I am 3 hours in and the game is the most detailed, most cinematic game experience that I've ever seen, just alone for that it is a game that is significantly better than average. Gameplay-wise I agree this is more of a refinement of the gameplay mechanics established in part 1, but that I like that and it is definitely an improvement.

Oh well, it's Pokemon, I bought for my daughter so I could avoid constantly playing Mario Party or Splatoon. I know it is supposed to be based on an older Pokemon game, but I have only played 3 or so titles in the series. This is the first one I finished and I was actually surprised that it was finished so quickly, around 25 hours or so. The graphics is the best in the series and a nice thing is that another player can join at anytime for support, so a lot of fights become much easier. You can also combine for dual-catch techniques to increase your chances to catch more difficult Pokemon. You can transfer some of your Pokemon Go creatures to the Switch (but not back) which helps you complete the Pokedex. Story is very Pokemon typical, nice, but nothing special, quite child friendly. I don't care for the Pokemon franchise (my favorite game on the Switch is Octopath Traveler), but for playing co-op with my daughter "Let's Go" is quite fun.

In my mind they finally Assassin's Creed right with the move to being a full open world action RPG. One of the best looking games I've ever played, a great main character (Kassandra) and a lot of flexibility with the traditional strength of the series putting this in an interesting historical context. Props to Ubisoft for toning down the modern day parts significantly. I've put almost 60 hours into the game and at level 32 and about 60% of the main story done it's amazing that the game is still stays interesting with tons of stuff to do.

I picked this game up on a sale, more than a year after release and with all patches, so I dd not get to see many of the problems that initially plagued this title. The game in its final state is great, a worthy successor to the Mass Effect Trilogy. It also demonstrates how a greedy publisher can destroy a game franchise by rushing out a game. If this had been released 6-8 months later, the response would have been better, but unfortunately it looks like EA/Bioware are strongly inclined to discontinue Mass Effect. Many of the elements that made me a fan of the Shepard games are there and they work well, the combat is much better than the previous games even. I enjoyed the story telling and the stories around the Pathfinder's teammates. If you haven't played it yet, I'd recommend giving it a try now. My only criticism is that there are still a number of bugs that make it impossible to finish some of the smaller side missions. I was still able to finish the main game and 99% of the side missions, so it is not critical.

I used to play the first 2 parts of the Fear Effect Series and have very fond memories of it. I backed the Kickstarter and even though I wanted to like this, I found the setting disappointing. The originals were Resident Evil style survival games, this one is a mix of isometric strategy and puzzle elements. None of those are done in a way that I would keep me playing, it's just not fun. The best about this game are the cut scenes which are very much in the spirit of the old games, but the game itself spoils the experience. Dear Sushee, thanks for trying to bring a new game in the Fear Effect series and I don't regret backing that project, but an action adventure would have been more fitting.

Having played guitar for a few years and video games since the 80s, this is in my mind the best game of all time. Now I get that many people won't agree with me. In my case, I've taken guitar lessons for a year or two before I had to stop for lack of time. When you have at least some foundation in guitar playing you will instantly see what kind of value this game provides. The game is out for 4 years now and we still have DLC song packs coming out on a regular basis, the songs are across all genres, so the replay value is almost infinite. I originally bought the original Rocksmith game for PS3, upgraded to 2014 and then for PS4, and have now purchased it for PC again, I value this game this much. If you are unsure which version to get and you own a not too old PC, buy the PC version. I feel it has the least lag and since I play on a laptop it gives me a certain amount of mobility.

This game was a surprise to me, I think I got this as a PS+ freebie and just recently checked it out. This is essentially a 2D topdown shooter with bullet hell elements which reminds me of arcade classics like 1942 or River Raid. While at the first impression it seems very repetitive, the more you play it the more you appreciate it: With each try you get money to buy upgrades which will enable you to get further into the game, and I found it a quite difficult game, with the upgrades it slowly gets easier. You earn medals with every objective you achieve and unlock more levels. I think it is a pretty good, addicting game, which motivates you to play more if you give it an honest chance.

This is the 3rd and probably last (?) iteration of the Danganronpa series, which is a mix of visual novel, mini games and dating sim. On top of the familiar deep story and the mini games it adds a few new mini games and interesting ways to interact with the game. It also introduces the lie as a crucial and unusual game concept, throughout the story as well as in the class trials. I strongly recommend to play the first two games in the story before this, as the games has a lot of references to the past games in the series and becomes very meta towards the end. The story is also relatively less likable to my taste compared to the previous entries and I even include Ultra Despair Girls in that. It's not a bad story by any means, though and it is likely that other people might disagree with me. All in all a strong title that consumes well more than 40 hours (45+ for me) and I enjoyed it greatly.

Got this game as a free PS+ game this month and it's a nice surprise, it has this old school arcade feeling to it. The design is pretty simple: avoid enemies and clear them out by collecting fruit. It gets increasingly difficult with the amount of enemies on the screen. There is a strategic element as you can cause chain reactions by collecting fruit and if the explosion touches other fruit they will explode as well. It is simple yet quite addicting and fun for short sessions.

As someone who played most of the various main and side games in the Persona 3 and 4 series, I was eagerly awaiting Persona 5. The combination of a clever strategic round-based/card-based battle system, social bonds and a deep story with multi-layered characters is a winning formula and in my opinion Persona has overtaken Final Fantasy as the premier japanese role playing series. As a normal user, I have only put about 10 hours into the game so far, but the experience has been great, the presentation is stellar. What surprised me is that the story starts on a high pretty quickly, introducing some fundamental movement and battle concepts as a sort-of tutorial. Not until about five hours into the game it is that things settle down a bit and exploration and day planning starts. Granted the framework of the game and the type of characters is very familiar to people who played previous Persona games, but the presentation is so much better. If I would describe the art style, it is similar to Atlus' puzzle game "Catherine". There is now much more voice acting than e.g. in Persona 4 Golden, and it feels like a lot of time has been spent on the localization, so the experience is very polished. From the experience so far, this it is a great JRPG title that is not afraid on taking on more serious topics like abuse of students by teachers and sexual assault that is tolerated by the surroundings, while also blending in more light-hearted elements.

NieR: Automata

User ScoreSoftwareLibre
Mar 9, 2017
I played NieR on the PS3 and I think it is possibly the most underrated game on the PS3. So when NieR: Automata was announced I had high expectations, it's essentially a marriage of the designer Yoko Taro's ability to create strange beautiful worlds and stories with Platinum Games' vast experience of crafting intense action games. Thus this new game is different in that the action aspect is so vastly better than the previous installation while keeping some familiarity, e.g. some of the weapons will feel very familiar and the soundtrack is just as great as the original's. What did not come as a surprise is that Platinum added a Bayonetta "Witch Time" like dodge mechanic, and combined shooting and melee. What surprised me a bit was that there are arcade style "bullet hell" and twin stick shooter elements - and it works suprisingly well. The characters are just as interesting and likeable as expected and the player has a very good variety of customization either the android itself or its accessory "pod". I have to admit in the beginning I lost against the second mini-boss and there is no save point until more than an hour into the game, essentially after the first real boss. So for the initial play session reserve about 1.5-2 hours so you can play until you find a save spot. The save spots can sometimes get very sparse and the first bosses can be tricky. Technically NieR: Automata is a huge step up from the previous NieR and Drakengard 3 titles. If you like strange beautiful experiences, fast action, superb soundtracks and games that you have to beat multiple times, this is a must-have title.

Gal*Gun: Double Peace

User ScoreSoftwareLibre
Aug 3, 2016
Gal Gun: Double Peace is a game that is at its heart a on-rails shooter. You are a student at a school who has been hit by a super-love arrow and have to shoot "pheromones" at girls that are either influenced by the "love angel" or a demon. In addition you can pick up little extras such as finding items that are tasks given by people in the school which appear in your cell phone. The shooting is mostly controlled by the left analog stick, sometimes with the D-Pad to switch directions and the square button for shooting and the right shoulder button for zooming. Personally I find that type of control not as intuitive as a move control, e.g. "Blue Estate" had an interesting idea to use the controller in a vertical position to hold it like a gun, but it works well enough. Typically a player will choose story mode to begin the game which essentially is a combination of shooting and visual novel elements, you will even have options that influence the story and thus, there are multiple endings. Besides there are some sections where the player has to touch the girls and raise a gauge. These sections resemble a little of "Dokidoki Majo Shinpan" or "Criminal Girls", I don't find those terribly interesting, but it makes for a change of pace, and sometimes the controller touch pad needs to be used which I find relatively hard to figure out how to do right. The story is cute and silly, though not particularly deep or original, but it does the job. I don't often play on-rails shooters and my favorites have been the "House of the Dead", "Typing of the Dead", and "Time Crisis". In my opinion the shooting sections are not quite as good as in those, but there still is quite a bit of variety and the graphics are quite clean and fluent. I deliberately chose the PS4 version, because from the Critic Reviews I could tell that the Vita version would not be quite as responsive. As for the replayability of the game, the story mode is rather short, you'll get through it in maybe 2, 3 hours, but with the branching story line and many unlockables there are enough incentives to play this again. There is also a Score Attack mode, so you can try to best your personal High Scores. My main critic points are the lack of move controls and the lack of sub titles for the voices, since they are in Japanese, it would be sometimes great to know what the characters are saying. I would give this a 7.5, but there are no half points on Metacritic, so I gave it an 8, this is with respect to it being an on-rails shooter.

Diablo 3 is a game true to its original roots, in art style, perspective, story and gameplay. You run through a large world in isometric perspective and kill and smash everything that looks like you can smash or kill it. The more you do that, the more you are able to develop your character and your equipment. The main attraction is the collecting of rare stuff and putting it either on you or your ally. As with previous versions you are also able to play in multiplayer co-op which makes the game even more fun. I enjoy this type of game in bursts, but it is getting a little tiring over time. The Diablo series might be the most perfect incarnation of its genre, but you don't grow as attached to your character as in an RPG in a stricter sense. Yet it's fun and clearly better than its predecessors, with more beautiful cutscenes, graphics, a larger world and a lot of customization options. If you liked the previous entries in the series, this one will not disappoint.

As the marquee franchise, the user review section unfortunately is going to be dragged down by salty XBox fanboys. Sorry this generation's console war has been decided before the release and it's been the former responsible management's responsibility for lying to us customers before finally giving to their wrath and doing things they said were impossible (any mildly technical knowledgeable person would see through those lies). I feel a little sorry for the current people in charge like Phil Spencer who are doing a good job, respectful and are true gamers. Back to the game, as expected from a Naughty Dog game, the attention to detail is fantastic, a very beautiful immersive game, a great story and art direction. If you played the previous parts, many things are very familiar, the superior hardware of the PS4 (compared to the PS3) allows for an improved experience. Give it a try if you like action adventures like Uncharted and Tomb Raider.

Senran Kagura: Estival Versus

User ScoreSoftwareLibre
Mar 23, 2016
Let me get this out first: If you are offended playing games that star big-breasted girls that kick ass then this game is not for you. When a game comes out in the western culture, many mainstream publications will judge and score it mainly based on the erotic aspect. This time around I am actually surprised, so far the reviews are pretty fair and balanced, maybe because the ones who who would usually give it bad scores decided not to review it. People lament that this game should not have so much fan service, but honestly without it, the series would lose most of its attraction (despite solid gameplay). In game design, realism and fun often don't mix so well. About this entry in the series, you get the most out of the story line if you already played the previous entries like Burst and Shinovi Versus. Newcomers to the story will often be lost because it assumes that you already know the background of the characters and the schools from previous games. The core game mechanics and basic game design have essentially stayed the same: There is a main story with chapters and subchapters where you have to face various grunt ninja and boss characters (which are the main characters of the series) and then there are the Shinobi Girl's Heart missions which fleshes out each individual character's story. I like the main story this time around more than the previous ones, it has more twists and introduces a number of new characters. Every character uses a different fighting style and the variety is what makes this game so interesting. You will most likely develop a preference for certain characters and fighting styles, and revisit individual missions with them, trying to get better rankings, scores and times. Essentially the old characters play very much like in the previous installations, with a couple of refinements. When you finish a boss, you often get a finishing scene, that changes depending on the environment and the clothing the boss is wearing. These finishers are oftentimes pretty hilarious, so just trying to see all finishers is a lot of fun. The gameplay is solid, fast-paced and fun as always and the refinements make it the best entry in the series playing and story wise. I wished it would play at 60 frames per second on the Vita, but despite some slowdowns, it is very playable. For me Senran Kagura is one of the best real 3D fighting game series on the market at the moment.

I just picked this game up on a PSN flash sale. Until Dawn is somewhat similar to Quantic Dream's "Heavy Rain" or Ready at Dawn's "The Order 1886" in that the game graphics look amazing and there are a lot of quick time events, but the way it plays, it is more accessible and easy to get, like e.g. a Telltale Game. The character's unfortunately frequently fall into the Uncanny Valley (like in Heavy Rain). It's really fun, atmospheric, with a lot of jump scares. I like how the decisions that you make in the game have a consequence how the story plays out and who survives. On the other hand, when I finished the game, I was not really motivated to play it again. Overall a nice and recommended entry in this genre.

I have never read any of the Game of Thrones books or watched any of the TV series, so I'll review this game series as someone who does not know about the series. First: this may be the cruelest games I have ever played (and I have played my share of survival horror), and most decisions in the game make you feel really bad. In contrast to The Walking Dead where you also had to make very tough choices, none of the decisions in the game really make me feel happy, it forces you onto a path of despair and I just want that whole thing to be over. I usually really like Telltale Games stories, but this is more than I can stomach.

One of the greatest last games for the PS3 and one of the greatest series on the Playstation platform. The Yakuza series is a very special franchise of games that are combine adventure, RPG and Open World elements. Unlike the western title suggests, this is not really about the Japanese underworld, but about the complexity of human nature and relationships. As a series targeted at a japanese audience, for us Westerners it allows us a glimpse into Japanese culture, which seems so different yet appealing. As the player you can explore some of the things that are part of Japanese day and nightlife almost as if you were a tourist. In Yakuza 5, you get to experience various locations from the perspective of 5 different characters, of which you 4 will be familiar to you if you have played at least Yakuza 4, which I strongly recommend. The game focuses on exploration and brawling except for one character, namely Haruka, a girl who is important in the series and finally gets a playable part in this game. Her story about becoming an idol is rhythm-based and a stark contrast to the brawling-heavy parts of the male characters. And it works very well, it's fun to do dance battles on the street and performances, even something as boring sounding as hand-shake events are quite enjoyable. I have to admit that I am currently not even halfway through with the game, and I put in more than 70 hours of play time. This is because the game is so good that you really want to play all the side missions and optional content. From this point, the price of 40$, even for a digital download seems like a steal, because you can easily spend more than 25 hours to explore each individual character's storyline. If you still have a PS3 and are even only remotely interested in deep story lines and japanese culture, try this one out, it's worth every penny. I like that despite that the series revolves around the japanese underworld, the main characters are very good-hearted people who you want to accompany every minute and see them grow and succeed.

My first thought after the first minutes into this game was "wow, this looks gorgeous !" Production-wise, this is one of the most well-made games on the PS3. Controls feel very responsive and despite the hordes of opponents the game throws at you, you always feel in control. The second thought was that the mechanics and even the main character feel very much like God of War. But that is not a bad thing, because God of War 3 was one of my favorite games on PS3. Dante's Inferno has a similar setting, but puts the player into a hell hell by Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy" and for me this works just as well as Kratos' trip to Hades and Olympus. As I mentioned mechanics, plot and graphics are great, the only less optimal aspects are that it does feel somewhat overly familiar if you played God of War like games. Also, the difficulty feels a little unbalanced at points, most of the game is fairly easy and then occasionally the difficulty spikes or there is some point where it becomes tedious trying over and over. For me there was one point of the game that I couldn't have beaten without finding a missable item and when I realized that, I started over again, luckily, you can beat the game in less than 8 hours, which feels just right. Luckily the developers refrained from putting in unnecessary filler just to make the game artificially longer. The game is not for everyone, the violence makes this a mature title. Players who are offended by the exaggerated depiction of sex organs and burning farts should also stay away. For everyone else, this is worth a try.

One of the amazing things about the Persona 4 series is how well it works outside of the RPG context. I have grown so attached to the characters that I have bought all related games - P4, P4 Golden, Arena, Ultimax, Persona Q and now Dancing all Night. This rhythm game features the popular P4 characters in a new story about missing pop idols. This time, the Investigation Team fights using their dance moves instead of using their personas. The story starts kind of slow, and gets better with increasing play time, it is presented as a visual novel with rhythm game parts, think P4 Arena/P4 Arena Ultimax, with rhythm gaming replacing the fighting. In my opinion, the characters Kanami and Nanako steal the show, they are really cute and likable. In addition, there is a free dance mode where you can focus on the rhythm gaming with harder difficulties and a variety of options to customize the characters. The rhythm gaming is very solid, you either tap the PS buttons or the D-Pad according to the patterns, occasionally using the analog stick to hit "scratch notes", represented by circles. I like rhythm games quite a bit using the Persona 4 character makes it all the more fun. I love the "Fever" sections where a second character joins the main character in the dancing and boost the mood. If you like Persona 4 and don't completely hate rhythm games, give this a try.

DOA 5 Last Round is still the visually impressive and solid fighting game it used to be in its previous incarnations. Since I had DOA 5 Ultimate, the game data transfer from PS3 to PS4 was like this: Ultimate was automatically updated to Last Round on the PS3, and I had to press the square button in the options menu to transfer the save data to the cloud. On the PS4, the game prompted me to read the information from the net, worked like a charm, I think not all DLC costumes that I purchased were transferred over, but I just might have to wait a while. The game currently has some obvious bugs so it freezes on occasion, it's not happening within the fights, but in between, so it has not been a real issue. If you know DOA, it's a very accessible fighter with a million of game modes, and counters and holds are a very important component of the fights. It's also neat how you can use the environments to get you an advantage over your opponent (punch them into danger zones etc.). One aspect I have always liked about DOA is that Tag Team battle and Single battle are equally handled in the game, whereas most other games clearly favor one mode over the other. Balance in general is pretty good in DOA. Last Round adds the previously DLC fighters Marie Rose and Phase-5 and Nyotengu and also Honoka and Raidou to an already quite large roster which also includes 4 Virtua Fighter characters. This gives the player a large selection of different styles to choose from. There are also numerous options for online fighting, I like the throwdown option, which allows you to interrupt while you play in single mode, fight an available online opponent and continue where you left off after the online battle. Of course you have the typical online options (Lobby match, ranked, etc.) available as well. So far the online fighting experience has been very good without noticeable lag, quite good for a release day, I'd say. Is the update worth it ? Well besides the expansion of the roster and visual updates and some tweaks, the changes are not quite so apparent, but it will be the only DOA game on the PS4 for a while, so I'd say yes, if you like to do your 3D fighting on your current-gen machine. If you like DOA, get it, if you're not sure, get the Core Fighters edition for free and see if it is for you.

Tekken Revolution

Feb 2, 2015
I decided to write a review about this game since most of the bad user reviews here that obviously are from people who want to express their hate for the Free-To-Play model and obviously never spent a second playing it. I own Tekken 6, Tag Tournament 2, yet I currently play a round or two of Revolution almost daily. It has the graphics and feel of TTT2, which is the best incarnation of Tekken in my opinion, but has a focus on 1-on-1 fighting, which I personally prefer while learning to become better at the game. The fighters on the initial roster cover the styles broadly, the Capoeira fighters are initially absent, but that's probably for the better since beginners might initially get a lot of success by button mashing Eddie or Christie and later hit a wall when they have to play against better players where they actually have to learn the more complex move set of the Capoeira style. 3 modes are available, Online Ranked Match, Online Player Match and Arcade, which are the most fun modes anyways. It is remarkable how much you can get out of Tekken Revolution without ever spending any money on it. While I wouldn't say that Tekken in general is easy for beginners, this is a risk-free way to get to know the Tekken series for someone who is willing to put in a little time. Someone new to Revolution should maybe first start reading the Software Manual, then head in to Training mode to get a feel for which fighter feels best to them and then train in Arcade Mode to build up their favorite fighter. While you play the game there are a number of rewards to earn: Fight Money, Gift Points, Experience and Blood Seals. There are also 2 types of player levels, the rank, as measured in the Kyu/Dan system and the experience level. The rank is increased by winning online matches, while the experience level reflects the time on spent by playing the game in general which results in higher Power, Endurance and Vigor stats. When playing ranked matches, the rank is the one that is used to find the matching opponent. Gift Points are used to unlock new characters one is not quite happy with their initial choice, so over time the roster will fill up by simply playing. There is one character which is entirely new to the Tekken series, namely Eliza, a vampire which is a fan community choice. To unlock the character, the player needs to earn 20000 Blood Seals which takes quite a while. Everything described above is free, and as I said, one could play Tekken Revolution and be happy without spending money on it, so where is the Free to Play aspect ? Well, the game limits the amount of times that can be played without waiting, by having a virtual currency. These coins are used to play each mode, are limited in number and they renew after some time, one hour per coin for Arcade mode and half an hour for online. In addition there are Premium coins and Premium tickets, which earn you more rewards than regular coins especially during special events which come up from time to time. Premium coins are purchased with real money in the store, while Premium tickets are awarded by the game on certain occasions. In conclusion, Tekken Revolution is a great version of Tekken, the graphics are on par with Tekken Tag Tournament, the available modes work well and it gives people a chance to try out the series without spending money if they don't want to. Never at any point do you feel forced to spend cash on it, it is entirely optional. Just wanted to get that out to provide a fair opinion to a game that deserves a fair treatment.

Tekken Prime 3D is a good, portable version of Tekken. However - it should not be your main Tekken version. It complements the home console version in supporting most of the characters and moves. From a technical standpoint it is rock-solid. Where it falls short, though - and this is so obvious that it literally hits you in the face within the first hour of playing - is the lack of modes, most prominently absent is an Arcade Mode and a Tutorial mode which makes this version difficult for newcomers. As a rather bad Tekken player, I use it mainly as a training tool, since most of the moves, timing and ranges work on the big version as well and I can train anywhere. Since Tekken is such a deep fighting game that requires a lot of practice, this makes Tekken Prime 3D a recommendation for serious Tekken players. The included movie "Blood Vengeance" is pretty bad, the production is nice, but the story does not make any sense whatsoever, but at least it's somewhat consistent with the Tekken game story line, watch it once and forget about it.

Personally I am indifferent to this, but I don't want to play western audience games all the times, so this game is a nice change. If I were to categorize Akiba's Trip, it is foremost a brawler, with RPG, visual novel and dating sim elements. The story, while not containing too many surprises, is interesting enough and the characters are very likable and well acted. The in-game graphics are not special, while sharp and with bright colors, the textures are not all that detailed, but overall it's good enough to not be in the way. The static graphics on the other hand are beautiful, it's a nice touch to display real japanese ads during the (short) load times. The static character graphics are beautifully drawn. I personally like the soundtrack, which is in the style I usually hear in anime movies (haven't watched to many of those), a lot of piano, guitars, bass and vocals. About the gameplay: the fighting element has some issues, mostly because the controls are not very responsive, throughout my playing I never had a feeling to be truly in control of my actions. The only time when I felt this is during the quick-time events where you pull the clothing off, on the casual level at least, you have sufficient time to basically never fail and pull-off long chains, especially towards the end, when the game throws hordes of opponents at you. Apropos "hordes of opponents", unfortunately, sometimes the game will throw infinite amounts of opponents at you and even if you have no trouble beating them, it never ends. I believe this to be a bug that can be hopefully fixed in the future. You can finish the game relatively quick, and luckily, the game offers enough incentives to play the game multiple times, since you have a New Game+ mode, can customize your characters, see multiple endings and go item hunting. I give this a 7, mostly because of the unresponsive fighting, but I thing it's a very cute game, and worth playing if you are open to games from the Japanese culture.

NIER is a great game, I can't put it down. The reason I only give it a score of 8 is for 2 reasons: the graphics is mediocre, and worst of all, the load times are awful. But aside of this, I have almost nothing but praise for the game, it starts maybe a little slow, but opens up after a couple of hours in, I like the non-nonsense combination of magic and non-magic combat, which are upgradable, and you are paired with 2 very interesting, member, a book and a - well, you'll see. The soundtrack is great and the voice acting works well. There are a lot of nods to other games, most noticeably Zelda. At times the game is very goofy and does not take itself seriously. The mix of different genres within this game works incredibly well, while it's first and foremost an action RPG, there are also more puzzle-focused and action-centric sections. The player has to do a lot of (story and side) quests, which work very well, but require some running, between possibly far apart locations. After a while you get mounts, but it still takes some time between locations. The load times when you switch between areas are unfortunately really long, sometimes a couple of minutes, which which is a pity. The cut scenes look great, the in-game graphics are only average and for some reason it only a little better than PS2 quality, probably because the texture detail is not very high, the polygon count itself looks fine to me. After a while, the graphics become less of an issue as you get more and more immersed into the world of NIER. If you enjoy games by designers that take risks to go non-conventional ways to stride off the mainstream, give this game a try,

This game is a bit mislabeled on Steam: there is actually no nudity or explicit sexual dialog, I would say it's partial nudity and suggestive language, so it's not really a mature title - it's still NSFW I'd say. This actually should not matter since this is a visual novel. Visual novels are simple in structure and are story-heavy, they can in many cases be done with a tool like Ren'Py, so all the game designer has to do is to add story, graphics, sound and decisions. Unfortunately, the story is quite boring, so the 3-4 hours play time is a plus. While funny and very well drawn, the characters are very stereotypical and flat. The story often references popular video games, but it actually doesn't matter. The player literally has only one decision to make in the game that does not have any consequence other than displaying different graphics for the main characters. At the end the games says it's to be continued, but honestly, I don't think it matters.

Final Fantasy X is my favorite game in the series, in terms of story, battle system and character development. The HD version is clearly the version to get, while far from having spectacular graphics, the game has aged well. The improved and much sharper visuals improve the game significantly, because you can see the objects, e.g. chests, spheres, books etc. much better. The music, which was already great, has improved, too. Apart from the improved graphics and sound, the remake also supports trophies, which is nice since it is such a long and quite challenging game.

I played this game on PS3 and now bought it again for the PS4, the original was already a masterpiece, this version comes with all multiplayer and single player DLC. As in the PS3 version, the story is emotional, ranging from funny to depressing mood, fighting is very flexible and invites for experimenting with different approaches. While the visual upgrade is not that huge, since it was already looking fantastic, the higher frame rate changes the experience for the better, especially during fighting. The reason I think it is worth getting this game again is because it has high replayability beyond the story itself (e.g. multiplayer) and if you have a PS4, you want this title in your game library. If you never played it before, it's a must-have anyways.
