There's a better "g"-word to describe this movie--Garbage. I rented this last night and was incredibly disappointed. This is oscar-worthy? Dallas Buyers Club, absolutely. Her, definitely. But Sandra Bullock fumbling around in space for 90 minutes with a George Clooney voiceover? It doesn't work. It's not interesting, it's not gripping, and it doesn't translate to anyone who hasn't been in space, which is probably about 99.99% of the human population. Apollo 13 did it MUCH better, so if you're dying to see a good **** happens, even in space" flick, go for that instead. And lemme tell ya. With all that open space out there around Earth, the Hubble Space Telescope, ISS, & Chinese station sure seem very close **** you can float from one to the other using a can of hairspray as your propellant and NOT run out of air…I'm calling BS. A big can of BS. In summary, the acting is trash. The script is pompous. And the story is a yawner. Read some of the other negative reviews so at least you're informed if you choose to watch it.

The Amazing Spider-Man1

I just don't get it. The Spider Man trilogy started in 2002, and now we already have a reboot? Man, can't wait until this superhero fad dies off and never comes back.

in 2505, they'll watch this old movie and wonder how we predicted the future. Then, they'll look for the Time Masheen and wonder where they can find Brawndo. Upgrayedd!

I can't believe I'm the first negative user reviewer. Like most, I listed to the critics and rented this movie from Amazon. The plot didn't seem all that great, nor did the **** I went with the positive reviews. I love sci fi, and consider myself a huge fan of series like BSG, Firefly, & Star Trek. I even have the entire series of Farscape on DVD. I can put up with a lot when it comes to imaginative sci fi stories, but this story was absurd. So basically you have this space man from some far away, advanced human civilization that crashes on Earth in Norway during the time of the Vikings. And somehow stowed away on that ship was a gigantic dragon-like thing. Then the space man and vikings fight the dragon-like thing after the space man conveniently loses his space man fireblaster in a waterfall. I just wonder who blackmailed John Hurt into acting in this heap of feces.

I would echo Printninja's review, but I'm so frustrated that I actually paid money to rent this movie I feel the need to put that dissatisfaction into my own words. From the minute this festering turd of a film starts, one is subjected to a scene with uninitiated characters spouting overly-complex dialogue that makes zero sense to the layperson. Or maybe the biggest problem was that there was nothing remotely interesting about the story, or any of the characters for that matter, that made me CARE to figure out what they were trying to accomplish. They're computer nerds tinkering in the garage, seemingly trying to come up with some new product to make money. And they accomplish this by constantly, without respite, speaking technical jargon that won't make sense to anyone short of Physics PhDs, experienced Engineers, or Computer Science geniuses. Does that sound like an interesting plot? If so, go for it. But don't say you weren't warned.

Definitely the best Hollywood film of summer 2012. The movie is cerebral for those who appreciate depth, but contains enough action and violence to entertain the masses. Superb acting & a solid script, all against the fittingly-dreary landscape of Pittsburgh, make this a masterpiece. All of this from someone who generally dislikes comic book/superhero movies.

A movie about a homeless skateboarder who smokes and drinks way too much all while contributing nothing to society or the story. I love indie movies, but find nothing artistic **** real story to be told. Loser wannabe skateboarder has a son he barely sees. He has a very cute girlfriend he drags down with him. The majority of the time he stoned and hammered drunk, barely functioning. He scrounges up money from garage sales so he can travel to the next low rent skateboarding competition where he wins $90...then decides to travel the country with his gf. That doesn't work out, so they end up in a crappy apartment with some old stoner while the main character gets a mainstream minimum wage job. What a story.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse2

Woof! This movie is so bad, so poorly written, directed, and acted, that it's actually....good? No, never. It's horrible. This whole universe of lore is so ludicrous it borders on blasphemy. Vampires sparkle & they can reproduce thru intercourse? Werewolves imprint on their soulmate? And at the center of this world is a mysteriously special "woe is me" dullard female who takes 3 movies to choose between the jock werewolf and the sparkly emo vampire. I give it a 2 for comedic value.

Ryan Reynolds has officially ruined his career with this movie. Until this point, he'd been a great comedy actor with some crossovers into drama & action. The only movies of the comic-book inspired superhero genre worth seeing, in my opinion, are the revived Batman series of movies. Even those are getting a bit campy with Bale's overly-dramatic angry whisper-delivered dialogue. Hollywood needs new creative minds badly.

The day this superhero movie fad dies can't come too soon. Enough already! Same goes for Seth Rogen. He's right up there with Jennifer Aniston as the most overexposed Hollywood stars.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones3
Jan 21, 2012
Lucas should've stuck with the muppets used in episodes IV - VI instead of the green screen CG characters. There's an obvious disconnect between the living breathing actors and those who are digitally created to the point it's just uncomfortable watching those scenes. And the dialogue. WOW . "Hold me, like you did by the lake on Naboo." Poor Natalie Portman.

I'm one of those snobs who feels like the original Swedish version was a little better. The first half of this version felt rushed while the latter half seemed extended--drawn out for every minute it was worth. I did think the casting was superb and was glad they didn't water down the sensitive parts for the American audience. All in all a solid effort.

I was very surprised to see the critic score on this one. Maybe they're all hollywood snobs expecting perfect cinematography? Anyhow, I found this hidden gem late one night on one nof the movie channels and something about it captured my attention. It pulls you in with the mystery and the promise of more, which it delivers in time. It's a slow, gradual story that climaxes as the END, which to me is a good thing. And it's creepy, too....comes out of nowhere and intensifies. I found it to be a solid indie movie.

This was exactly what I thought it was going to be: A predictable, cheesy & highly-glamorized depiction of a true story story. It's heavy reliance on CGI is a good thing because it takes your mind off the cookie-cutter dialogue. Or I could summarize by saying this is just another civil rights-inspired **** with airplanes.
