*This is post patch! An excellent post-apocalyptic rpg. If you've never played a STALKER game it might take a little bit to understand the mechanics but it is well worth it. Upgrades to weapons and gear, artifacts that add buffs and debuffs, multiple choices that effect the story, plenty of side missions that flesh out the larger story of the anomalous zone. This is what Fallout used to be and I love it.

Starfield8

First the discussion around Starfield has been full of bad actors and bad faith. Is this game perfect? Of course not, no game is. Are there valid criticisms? Of course. But at the end of the day if you continue to come back and look forward to playing it then it is a good game. Bethesda has taken everything they have learned from their previous RPG's and refined it in Starfield. The level of Role-Play available is great. The sheer amount of quests and things to find is great. Planet exploration could have been handled better. Maybe cut the number of planets to add more unique things to those remaining planets? I know they are going for a more "realistic" depiction of space. Which in fact has mostly barren rock/ice planets. But I recognize it can be tedious. Starfield has the best gunplay of any Bethesda game. All these assumptions that some people had the game would be. Has no one learned from Cyberpunk? Excepting too much from a game will always end in disappointment. Can we pull back, take a breath, and be fair to the game?

This is an excellent example of what a "Souls-like" shooter should be. Semi-open world, you travel through different large zones. There are multiple archetypes (classes) for unique playstyles. Getting crafting material from bosses to make unique weapons. Probably the coolest aspect of the game is in the replayability. The game changes up the maps and quests for each playthrough. So while you'll be in a similar map the second playthrough it will not be exactly like the last time.

I used to love this game. I would have given it a 7 or 8 during its heyday but now it is almost unplayable. Ubisoft has abandoned it and it being an always online game spells trouble. You can't go 20 minutes without being disconnected from the server. Very frustrating. This game was great but now I cannot recommend. I wish they'd make a third one instead of this BR Hearltand game.

First I was not hyped for this game. I felt like it was going to be another Left 4 Dead clone. So i was able to go in with low expectations. Also I am playing on GP so i did not pay $60 for the game. Performance needs fixing (frame rate stuttering, lower than expected FPS). Technical issues such as enemy ai is frustrating. The "looter shooter" aspect needs to be more fleshed out. That being said I still am having fun playing the game. Especially if you have a friends to join in.

If you're a fan of the Yakuza series you will enjoy this. I never played the original but i enjoyed the remake. Four different attack styles and plenty of upgrades to personalize your style. The plot is interesting. Performance is good and I didn't have any technical issues, which is amazing these days. I would have liked there to be more voice acting and I am not a fan of bloated activities and collectathons. But with the Yakuza series you can't get away from that.

Amazing horror game with camera and inventory aspects of early RE games. The pixelated graphics fit the mood and atmosphere very well and the puzzles are fun but not too complicated. I am taking one point off for the plot and the way it is told. Mostly through vague cutscenes and found notes. When it ended, I sat back trying to put together all the pieces. I have some sense of what was going on but not a clear idea. Which I think was the point.

The only game I have ever rated a 0. Extreme monitization pushed in your face. Long gone is the Blizzard of the late 90's early 2000's. This Blizzard is a money hungry monster that takes their best IP's and turns them into soulless cash grabs.

This game nails art style and sound design. It is weaker on combat mechanics. For a game that leans into the fluid block/counter/attack combat it needs work. I never got the hang of counters even though I would block at the right time and attack back. Most of the time it would just do a normal attack. The game also drags during the middle to later half. That's when they stop introducing new enemies. It is a rather short game. I finished it in two extended sessions. Would recommend.

While Grand Theft Auto V as a whole is a great game, this version is not worth buying and was not worth releasing. Rockstar has milked this cow so much the teet has not just run dry but has completely ripped off! There was no reason to release a "next-gen" update that adds nothing of value. Rockstar is NOT the company they used to be. I am 34 and in my teens (early-mid 2000's) Rockstar had so many hits and great games. Now they are living **** that was released in 2013 and have released just one.. ONE! new game since then.

Good but not great. Deals with advancing AI and the threats it poses. You are a scientists who is tasked with investigating a woman's death. So really you are an investigator, but you have a machine where you can explore peoples memories, you jump between objective memories and subjective memories solving light puzzles. The game is not long about 2 hours probably and while listed as horror in many game listings it is not horror in the traditional sense. No ghosts or paranormal activity it is psychological horror if anything.

Beautiful Game With intriguing Story Held Back by Technical Issues. This is after 20 hours of gameplay and a year from initial release with some major patches applied. Cyberpunk is a very enjoyable and engaging open world RPG with shooter/looter mechanics. This is hands down the best looking game I have ever played. Better than RDR2, Forza Horizon 5, Metro Exodus. The story is great (even if you're choice of path in the beginning doesn't change much) it is very immersive and has different outcomes determined by your choices. Think of a more modern GTAV set in a nearish semi-dystopian future. Yeah sounds cool huh? Everyone knows about the launch and I will give you my first hand experience. First I have not run into any game breaking bugs but there are small/annoying glitches bugs frequent enough to pull me from full immersion and knocks the score down from 8 or 9 to 7. Now every vast open world game I have ever played has bugs and glitches i.e. Skyrim, Assassins Creed, even GTA. The main bugs I have come across are graphical like flashing textures, items not being able to be picked up, and audio glitches such as voice lines not being spoken or continuing when skipped. Not huge things but immersion breaking and annoying.

Open world done Mad Max style! I liked this game from it's desolate atmosphere to redemption arc I had a good time. I was playing on a Series X so with FPS boost and auto HDR the game ran buttery smooth. The fighting mechanics are just like Shadow of Mordor or the Batman Arkham games if you have played those. The world is set up into areas with collectibles and extra things to do while you progress. My main issue is with the grind. While you open new areas they all have the same side quests/ collectible items to get so after awhile it gets boring and grindy. I would recommend if you can get it on sale.

Fun little indie horror. The art style is something I have never seen. It is all hand drawn, this can lead to absolutely beautiful scenery but also some very ugly aspects as well (faces for one). The game is also all sepia, I am guessing with the hand drawn style adding color would hurt the horror atmosphere. The story is creepy and a little out there. Puzzles are usually pretty simple but a few can be confusing since there is little direction given in this game. But I would recommend this game for indie/horror lovers.

This gets a 5 for being average. If you played through the 100+ hours of Valhalla then you are well aware of what awaits you in this DLC... more of the same. I never played the Skyrim mod that this game is based off of so I might have a different angle on it than someone who has. The game is a great detective case. You need to figure out who is going to "sin" before they do and the city is destroyed. Kind of a rougelike game, if something wrong happens and the city is destroyed you get to start from the beginning again, but with all the inventory and information you learned before. dialogue and story is stellar, the environment and setting is stunning. I didn't get bored one time and with 4 different endings it is fun to figure out what the different outcomes are.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon9
Jul 21, 2021
A great play for gamers who love plot. So I had never played a Yakuza game before but I had played Shenmue 1 and 2. But Shenmue is to Yakuza what GTA 3 is to GTA 5. It has a great plot that pulls you in and keeps you engaged. I can best describe the gameplay as, take a RPG from the SNES days, then modernize it for 2021 and that's Like A Dragon. There are all the potions, items, loot, skills, magic from RPG's but they are renamed for modern times. So instead of cloaks and armor you have different types of shirts, shoes, and hats. The graphics are good. I have it on optimal resolution and it still runs at 60FPS which is great. I will warn you though. I was not prepared for the amount of cutscenes. Honestly the game is probably 1/3 cutscene. Now the cutscenes are great. The voice acting, animations, and humor are really good but I thought I would just let you know going in.

Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack8
Jun 30, 2021
Great extra maps the only reason it gets an 8 is because they should have been included in the game at release. This game had a hellish development (look into it if interested) so Bungie had to cut a lot of material and use it in 3 or make a map pack like this. You have to also remember when this came out Xbox Live was very young (like 2 years old) and it was not as popular as it is today. Partly because internet was still very slow for most people.

Just like Doom, Quake, and Goldeneye Halo is a legend in the FPS genre. With it's closed to open level design to it's split screen co-op and multiplayer Halo CE is a must have for any Xbox owner. Whether that be the original verson or the remastered Xbox One version. It is hard to imagine now that we are 20 years removed from its release but Halo absolutely revolutionized the genre, as cliche as that sounds. Microsoft pretty much owes the Xbox's success to this franchise.

Necromunda: Hired Gun5
Jun 15, 2021
First a tip for players, set aiming assist to 50% and controller deadzone to 10% this cleans up aiming issues a lot. A disappointing FPS hampered by bugs. I really had high hopes for this game. Necromunda: HR is a fast paced frantic FPS in the style of Doom and that's what hooked me. A Doom style game set in 40K? Yes yes yes. There is wall running, double jumping, and even a grappling hook. The set pieces are intricately designed with the lore in mind and there is so much to look at the game nails almost all of it. The narrative is hardly original, you are a bounty hunter betrayed on the first mission and looking for revenge. But hardly anyone plays shooters for the story. When it comes to gameplay the game throws endless waves of enemies at you as you progress through levels. Levels can range from small sewer's to huge open spaces. There are tons of nooks and crannies to explore and the devs have hidden loot chests and pick ups all over the maps. Problem is, sometimes the HUD does not give good indication of where you need to go. There are four catagories of guns (pistol, special, heavy, and basic) all of which can be customized and two catagories of special trait items that effect stats. And that is where we come to some of the games glaring issues. For a supposed "looter" the loot menu and loadout screen is horrendously bad. There is little in the way of information on how special items work and most seem inconsequential. It feels like the loot system was thrown in with little planning or thought because it feels so shallow. There are some bugs as of right now (camera movement, clipping through walls during takedowns, the gun not shooting). Wall running is different in HR than in Titanfall. Instead of just automatically happening like in Titanfall you have to hold down A (which is also the jump button). You can see the issue when pressing A twice does a double jump. It makes wall running frustrating and honestly I use it very little unless forced to. I am sure they will be patched soon and when they do I will come back and update my review. At this point I cannot recommend this game on XBSX until it is patched. Once it has been there is great potential for it to be a fun mindless shooter.

Having played the 2k games all the way back since Dreamcast I have fond memories of both this and the football 2K games. But gone are those days and now are the microtransaction days. At every turn this games tries to get you to spend money and some of the mechanics are not even subtle about being gambling. There is a slot machine for peets sake! If I want to play online I am forced to buy player packs or I cannot be competitive. But maybe I am just becoming an old gamer who thinks you should get the best things in games from putting in the time and effort. Yes the graphics look great and the game works that's why you get 3 points instead of 0.

May 16, 2021
A great sequel to Biohazard. If you like the art/gameplay style that Resident Evil 7 introduced you will really enjoy this game. Of Series X I played with raytracing on and the graphics are amazing. Downsides, the puzzles are not difficult and worse of all the game does not have the terror and tension that 7 had. Biohazard felt claustrophobic, the walls closing in on you. Village has many parts set outside and while it is visually pleasing it does not achieve the same effect. And on the terror side, there was only one real scary sequence. I wont spoil it but it is in House Beneviento. Otherwise it is not scary, more creepy.

Great detective game with a dystopian cyberpunk atmosphere. This game is visceral and dark. You play an Observer, basically a detective that can plug into peoples brain implants and view their memories. The setting is the late 2000's where everyone is getting implants and there is a terrifying disease called "nanophage" ravaging the populace. The entire game takes place in one apartment complex but at no time did I find it boring. You are searching for your estranged son but stumble upon something much bigger. Tons of intertwining stories and philosophical concepts to ponder while you find clues and try to retain your sanity.

I am writing this review in 2021 but I have been playing The Division and WONY since 2020. WONY (Warlords of New York) is an excellent addition to the base game and adds to the story in a great way. The area is not the same area that you explored in the first Division, you are running around Manhattan in this one. I still miss all the pedestrians from the first game but there are plenty of things to do in WONY and secrets to uncover that make this a definite buy if you like Division 2.

Game is a survival horror with more aspects of shooter than survival. Pace is very slow and atmosphere is conveyed very well. The game is dark. Like actually hard to see a lot of things dark. Game is a 4 player Co-op hack and slash. The co-op is not mandatory and you can play with 3 bots. The game is divided into Acts and each Act has 4 missions. The missions are not long, around 15 min, and are linear. There are different characters to choose, called "Hero's". Each hero has 3 different "Classes" with a fourth behind DLC. After each mission you get crates that contain loot to upgrade your character. Which gives you a "power level" and your power level determines what difficulty you can play the level on. Basically there is a gear score and the higher your gear score the higher difficulty you can play on. And the difficulty ramps up quick. And of course there are cosmetics you can buy with in game currency. which you gain from challenges.

Great Assassins Creed game that suffers from frequent game crashing bugs...
First lwt me start by saying currently I have 40+ hours in game, this is not a review by someone who has completed the game nor by someone who only has 2-3 hours. If you are a fan of the AC series you will naturally love this game. It takes what was good about Odyssey and trims a lot of the fat. The combat system has been changed a lot and it takes some getting used to but It is fun and rewarding. You don't pick up thousands of weapons and armor pieces like in Odyssey anymore. The game opts for a few pieces that it wants you to upgrade. The game is also visually stunning, making full use of HDR and beautiful landscapes.

Gear.Club Unlimited 2 is a fun game. It is an arcade racer with some upgrading/cosmetic enhancements included. This is not a simulation racer by any means. Let me begin this by saying I am not an Assassin's Creed fanboy. I played the very first Assassin's Creed and found it to be boring and repetitive. Odyssey however has really impressed me. It took me a little bit to get into the game world (a few hours), but once I did I found it fascinating. The ancient Greek world Ubisoft created in Odyssey feels alive and intriguing. The graphics are stunning. On X One X the terrain looks like a movie, especially rocks. The AI is surprisingly smart and even on normal enemies can spot you a far distance away. The way the game handles progress is well done. When you start gaining more and more Resistance Points in one of the three sections of the map, the leader of the area will send their specialists after you. Whether it be hunters or angels. This adds a level of excitement and suspense as these elite troops live up to their name. There is plenty of character customization and sidekicks as well as a huge selection of weapons that can be customized. They plot is over the top and tongue in cheek in many ways. Humorous when it needs to be and strikingly intense at other times. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes shooters and RPG's. Plus I bought it when it was $40 off the Xbox store.
