Street Fighter 68
Jun 17, 2023
Easily the most creative and and content-rich Street Fighter of all time. Drive system and rollback netcode allow for flexible and engaging combo structure that we haven't seen before. Whilst I think a few characters in the cast would've benefited from gaining some additional move (Guile, Blanka, Marisa), every character feels unique and full of personality. With the first four DLC characters announced I'm excited to see how the metagame unfolds.

Assassin's Creed III7
Jun 17, 2023
Probably my favorite game in the assassin's creed franchise. The only downsides being a rather limited combat and traversal system that are streamlined, but not as complex or manual as I would like.

inFamous 27
Jun 17, 2023
Easily tied with Second Son for the best game in the series. Infamous 2 boasts many improvements over it's predecessor that you can only truly appreciate if you've played through the first game. Not to mention the welcome addition of in engine cutscenes that allow for better story telling than what was present in the first game.

South Park: The Stick of Truth7

A hilarious RPG only held back by it's easy/exploitable combat system, and lack of post game content.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild8
Jun 17, 2023
Almost a perfect Zelda experience. My only complaints being limited to minor grips including shield surfing max speed being too slow, lack of meaningful weapon and enemy diversity in the late game. The only large complaint I have would be the final boss being far too easy.

This game does a lot right. With climbing, traversal, and combat being quite fun and even challenging at some points. My major gripes with this game come down to a quite slow initial story progression. It feels like this game takes a long time to get rolling narratively and that is a huge point against it.

Rivals of Aether8

Unironically one of the best platform fighters ever realised. Fantastic depth and unique original mechanics, alongside community tools for creating their own content. A fantastic competitively sound platform fighters that inspires the next generation of game devs? Hell ya!

Fantastic exploration of dynamic platforming and mental health. If you want a game that'll test your skill as well as give you an insight into the struggles of mental health then this game is for you. Also the visuals and soundtrack are beautiful.

Team Fortress 28

A fantastically fun and well craft first person shooter with loads of depth under the hood. There is a reason TF2 has lasted this long, and the creativity this games inspires is near boundless.

inFamous: Second Son7
Apr 4, 2023
A blast ****, with fantastic gameplay and world/level design. Whilst the binary choice system has always felt a little limiting and this game doesn't really break that trend, the gameplay implications of your story decision are just as great if not better than the other mainline Infamous games.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U5
Apr 4, 2023
This game is great at pretty much everything except the core gameplay which is overly floaty, unbalanced, and uninteresting. Although it wasn't even able to provide an interesting story mode akin to Subspace Emissary. Having marginally better combat than Brawl doesn't matter if you're single player content is worse.

Dragon Ball FighterZ7
Apr 4, 2023
Easily one of the best looking Anime games alongside one of the best team fighters of all time that is only held back by movelist genericism, questionable DLC balancing practices,. I will most likely increase my score for this game once rollback netcode is implemented.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask7
Apr 4, 2023
A fantastically eerie game with loads of fun in it's mask gameplay system. Fantastic soundtrack as usual, alongside multiple improvements due to the nature of it being a sequel. However, alongside it's N64 brethren the aging cracks are quite obvious with poor camera controls and often shotty visuals only saved by the great artistic direction.
Nintendo 64

Ultra Street Fighter IV7
Apr 4, 2023
Easily one of the best Street Fighter Games ever released. The only issues that are prevalent are regulated mostly to a lack of single player content that most fighting games struggle with anyways.

Super Mario Odyssey9

Listen, this game is nearly flawless in my eyes. The controls and movement options are deep and satisfying. The explorable level design is always able to engage my curiosity. Cap jumping and other advanced techniques gives this game a skill that would be quite fun for speedrunning. The only possible issues I could possibly image for this game, are due to the early simplistic boss designs and a story that is more an excuse to go do things that an actual story.

Donkey Kong 647
Apr 4, 2023
Solid gameplay utilizing a colorful cast of apes and monkeys that all play extremely unique. Really solid level design as well as incentive to reexplore areas of the world with each Kong that opens up the level design in different way depending on their abilities and specialties. The only pain points of the game have to do with most Nintendo 64 era games, that being the camera. Multiple times I can recall precise platforming being made either more difficult or tedious via the camera.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue7
Apr 3, 2023
A fantastically charming Australian 3d platformer with one of the craziest starting levels I think I've ever played. Whilst there are some gripes here and there that I think could be tuned up to improve it, the only real issues I have with this game are some of the padding elements. If you're a fan of games like Sly Cooper, or especially Jak & Daxter, then you'll love this! If I could give this a 7.5 I would because the game is so close to being a solid 8.

Besides all the super cringey dating sim esc friendship systems and some of the corniest dialogue known to man. The actually strategy systems are pretty fun even though as a fan of the XCOM games I find it pretty shallow.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition7
Mar 24, 2023
A game that started off it's early life in an extremely poor quality state, managed to basically stick the landing at the end. Whilst it has a decent laundry list of the flaws I think most people can agree that Street Fighter V definitely redeemed itself over time.

Elden Ring8
Mar 24, 2023
Not just another hit for fromsfotware, but a stellar and somewhat perplexing evolution of the soulsborn formula. As someone who really enjoys exploration and deep combat systems Elden Ring really checks all my boxes with my only real complaints being regulated to the grindy RPG elements that are present in all RPGs.

Hollow Knight8
Mar 24, 2023
A fantastic evolution of the metroidvania genre. Whilst the combat, movement, boss design, and ability progression are undeniably fantastic. I often found the most enjoyable moments about the game where just exploring the world alongside filling in the unventured areas of my map.

Shallow gameplay systems propped up by a stellar IP and animations. Also the story mode is pretty good as well.

Tekken 77
Mar 24, 2023
A great game that unfortunately, for every two good things this game offers, it offers another thing just as bad. Examples of great improvements to the Tekken formula include the Screw system as well as the cinematic slow motion round end feature. The negatives include, characters that fundamentally break the game, as well as practices that are blatantly anti-consumer and while not quite pay2win, toe that line.
PlayStation 4

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time7

Marvel's Spider-Man7
Mar 24, 2023
An otherwise great game held back by playing as any character othee than Spider-Man (Mary Jane, Miles Morales). Also strange that this game decided to make Mary Jane feel less like Mary Jane and more like Lois Lane.
