There's a thrilling sense of transcendence that won't let go from the first masterfully constructed frames in Ridley Scott's modern epic of ancient Rome. It's that very rare feeling that you're settling into a movie whose individual elements are so finely attuned they fuse into a singular construct of pure entertainment.

Has the kind of super-cinematic qualities and bravura acting that make up for almost anything.

Kurz gesagt: 10/10!

Emphasizing brawn over brain and spectacle over intimacy, Ridley Scott's Gladiator nevertheless is an impressive accomplishment in its re-creation not only of the golden age of the Roman Empire but of the unspeakable brutality with which one of the world's greatest states conducted its business.

Frequently gory, often talky, almost always watchable, never quite thrilling, Gladiator is a cold and big film that mixes solid acting with cheesy digital effects and sweaty action with stultifying chatter.

It ends with the corniest convention of all: an absurd mano-a-mano between good and evil.

Well, it's better than "The Phantom Menace."

Friends, Washingtonians, countrymen, I come not to praise Gladiator but to bury it.

This is an incredible movie, with fantastic acting, incredible effects, and lasting appeal. One of the best historical epics set in Rome.

Ortalama ve üstü seviyede bir yapım. Eskimesinin yanı sıra, kurgunun biraz fazla zayıf olduğu görünüyor diğer etkenlerle beraber...

A very long and a very slow movie. The fighting scenes are good, the story is slow, and you can see that its 26 years old. Would not watch it again. Are you not entertained?

This piece of rubbish narrowly edges out 'Hurt locker' as the worst movie ever to win an academy award. Cliche after gut-wrenching cliche...
Joaquin Phoenix's villain is so comical that I was waiting for him to raise his pinky finger to the corner of his lip 'Dr Evil' style and say "one million dollars".
Crap. Plain and simple.

Change the title to GRUMPY MAN and it will pass for an average comedy. And Crowe got an oscar out of the deal. Great job academy! The soundtrack supplied the only clothes pins holding up this drippy crap stained sheet on the line.
