Sinners, the new film directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, needs no more than a one-word review; Stunning. Magical also works. So does unforgettable.

What makes Sinners, set in 1932 Clarksdale Mississippi, so effective—so chilling, so hypnotic, and occasionally so grimly funny—is the way it yields to mystery, never seeking to overexplain.

Beautiful, thrilling and thought provoking piece of art of a movie. Underrated.

Sinners was epic experience, vampires were scary, Michael B Jordan was fantastic, movie was beautifully directed.

Ryan Coogler enters the horror realm and nails it in Sinners, which drops vampires into a deeply personal, heartfelt, emotional, sexy, and bloody story that’ll stick with you.

Sinners is one of the most distinctive, confident mainstream films of the modern era, but it nonetheless leaves an audience with the tacit reminder of the limits of art to set one free in a system that profits as much off its exploitation as that of manual labor.

The ending’s a bit iffy, the action so-so. And yet the genre-mashing audacity (part horror, part historical epic, part musical) is so assured, the characters so rich, and the flights of fancy so ambitious that it’s impossible not to be moved.

I wanted to love Sinners more than I did but the energy level is so infectious that it’s impossible not to get swept up and pulled in. It’s a sloppy concoction that carves out a new niche for vampires not unlike what Let the Right One In achieved.

Coogler introduces themes, agendas and histories in collision with this film. But once “Sinners” transitions from Black history at a crossroads into straight-up horror, nothing much is made of the Big Ideas in this ungainly mashup of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Crossroads” and “From Dust Til Dawn.”

How badly do you want to be From Dusk Till Dawn? Yes!What a cheap knockoff. Acting-wise it was fine, but otherwise nothing clicked for me at all. It wasn't boring, but it wasn't thrilling either. What exactly an Oscar was awarded for here is truly beyond me.

Sinners is an eye candy of a movie. The first 2 acts to me, is where this film stands out. From the acting to the visuals. It's some of Ryan Coogler's best work. Then the 3rd act comes along. Thats where the film does unfortunately lose me. The writing becomes weak, the editing becomes sloppy, and Ryan's direction becomes questionable. I get the film has a message, and it seems like Ryan forgot that and was like "Oh right, this film does have vampires in it." It struggles to keep up and it struggles to remember what the film wants to be. All in all, a good film to watch. Just don't expect anything from it in the long run.

Great acting and sets, good music. Terrible story. Racial identity politics couldn't be more obvious. Evil white vampire plays an Irish song I believe while attacking the peace seeking blacks. The acting from the entire cast is above board. Kudos. Cinematography was excellent but was only driven for a desire to demonstrate white = bad

This movie is awful. The first hour is boring nonsense. Then you realize the movie is about cultural appropriation with the white vampires stealing the culture from the cool blacks, which is ironic since this movie is just an appropriation of From Dusk to Dawn but with no interesting characters. We were so gaslit on this movie. It **** (blood and ass).
