Evil Dead Rise6

It's not Evil Dead without Bruce Campbell, but this is a perfectly serviceable demonic possession/slasher movie that you can enjoy and immediately forget. The teenage characters are mildly obnoxious but are otherwise believable as siblings and well enough acted. Hint: if you want your teenage girl character to be likeable, don't make her sole identifying characteristic that she is a political activist, as that will turn off most people. That said, having unlikeable side characters in a slasher movie can work just fine.

Renfield7

This deserves better scores than it is getting. It's light weight and not meant to be taken seriously. Pros: The actor who plays Renfield is good, Nick Cage is also good. Cage doesn't appear as much as you might think but that could actually be a good thing. Supporting cast are mostly fun.
Cons: I'm so-so about Awkwafina. She's pleasant enough but nothing amazing and as a comedian she is not particularly funny. Hollywood is trying to make her a star for reasons I can't fathom. I also don't buy her and the main character as a romantic couple. That said this movie is much more fun than most stuff coming out of Hollywood at the moment.

The scientists tell us an asteroid is heading for earth and no one listens to them. Trust the science. Really this show is a satire on the climate change debate. A few of the jokes land and its enjoyable enough but it's also smug and one sided. The writers are and not as clever as think they are and based on this I'm not sure they've even heard the other sides of the argument. It's just straw men all the way down. It's a comedy so some of this is fine, but overall self awareness is lacking.

I'm giving this a point or two more than I think it deserves to balance out some of the negativity. In all honesty this movie (while nothing amazing) is completely fine and enjoyable enough if you like the first one. It ignores the second movie which was smart.
The best part of H3 is Van Peebles as the villain - he's lots of fun and might even be the best of the villains from the first three movies. Beyond him the rest of the movie is just ok but more than good enough for a popcorn flick.

Enjoyable time killer. It's well shot and well acted -overall the execution of the movie is very good. Throughout the actions of the characters didn't seem realistic. Supposedly the main characters are all professional soldiers (now in private industry) however much of the time they act like a bunch of amateurs i.e. their heist is poorly planned and they do a bad job of resolving issues on the fly, and are ill suited for dealing with the stress of being out in the wilderness for a group of people who supposedly do this for a living. It's subjective but i also didn't much like how the story resolved which is related to the actions of the characters not being entirely believable.
Fun but miss-able.

Better than i expected. I was told that fans of the Romero zombie movies found this one disappointing but i’ve no idea why. For me this is the best of the first three (haven’t seen the later movies). Zombie effects are by far the best of the three - though of course they’re not up to modern standards.
There’s great conflict between the characters and most of the acting is actually very good. The guy who plays the villain is terrific. Sure its a B-movie and the dialog is a bit clunky in places, but its a tense ride and you feel that things could tip over the edge at any moment. Love it.
