One of my favourite tv series of all time. It’s rare for a modern show to be this good, and even more rare to have a good ending

So much better than comparable viking series, in every aspect. And although it shows the brutal live from a bygone era, it is not so stupidly and unnecessarily splatter and gore like these. This series is for a more really mature audience.

10/10 This is the best tv show I have ever watched before. Yep the very best show ever. From season 1 through season 5, episode after episode is action, twists, and enjoyment. Watch it ASAP.

The last kingdom is nothing short of a masterpiece, great history to learn great world building and everything on top, up there with the goats

As a reader of the book series I'm usually extremely critical of the shows adaptation as the 'creative' writers tend to ruin them, however, this has been great and the acting has been fantastic throughout. Can recommend this.

Normally I’m not really into series like The Last Kingdom, but back when it first showed up on Netflix I decided to give it a try and was instantly captivated by Uhtred and his story. It’s truly well written with wonderful characters, both real people like King Alfred the Great and fictional characters like Uhtred and his friends. And it conveys beautifully what it was like to live in the Middle Ages.* It inspired me to read up on medieval England and the conflict between the English and the Danes. * It will make you very happy that you live in the 21st Century.

Not as glossy as got or Vikings but the Story is incredible, season 5 ended immensely well!

Love this series and red the first 8? (maybe 9?) books a while back. Been waiting a long time for season 5 and 3 episodes in, not disappointed. A little bit formulaic, but the books were as well. Also strays quite a bit from the books (I don't remember Breda being that important). Still, after binging Vikings, Vikings Valhalla, I was expecting to be bored of it all, but I love this show and it fits nicely right in between the time periods. Uhtred is a great character and I'm invested in him. Alexander Dreymon is the embodiment of him.

Discount Vikings basically. The writing is subpar, the characters and acting are at least reaching average levels of quality and the overall story is just piss poor. There's a lot of decisions the characters make that make absolutely no sense and you just scratch your head. Basically take Vikings, throw out any questions as to what the hell is going on and just go with it and THAT is The Last Kingdom. I really tried enjoying it as I love Vikings (and even the spin off, although it's less good) but this was hard to get through even the first season.

I absolutely love this show! The history, the acting, the characters and plot are fantastic. It's right up there with Game of Thrones. Can't wait for Season 5.

This score is for season 1 (the rest was unwatchable for me). I must admit, I had high expectations prior watching these series. I had the illusion this was a historical drama what accurately represented the period. The storytelling is childish, costumes make no sense, dialogues and relationships are not believable. Many scenes felt like they were filmed with gopro camera. Camera angles, I know that was a creative decision, quite often felt very amateur. The project could not have been cheap, since this is historical piece, but my suggestion for future productions - please, spend some money on hiring a historian, so it does not feel like it was written by a twenty year old.

Might not be as good as GOT as a complete series but if you want to watch a series that has something on each episode, and gets better each episode it is for you.

The Last Kingdom is a show that simply keeps getting better. It is well worth a watch. Characters are well written and complex. The action is pretty good and costumes/set designs are great. The story is well paced and will make you want to watch more. While it isn't quite as glossy as Game of Thrones or Vikings it surpasses both of their later seasons.

A series that gets better and better with each and every season. This show far surpasses Vikings and Game of Thrones in both it's consistency and it's depth of characters. Action is enjoyable, dialogue is enthralling. You can actually feel yourself become a part of the show as you are watching it. One of the only shows to have that effect on me was Narcos. Can't wait for S5.

Awesome brotherhood with comedic commentary. Loyalty and action that captures and transports you to history.

This show has potential but its brought down by some laughable writing. The acting is good but the writing goes down the toilet in season 4.

No spoilers here. Just a great story that drags you through the conflicts. Stories arc off and follow different people, but the show does a great job of keeping on track, and making it so you care about the main characters. I lived the Vikings, this is set around the same era but you can watch one independently of the other without any spoilers. Great show, as good as it gets in the viking age.

This show keeps better and better each season. May not be as glossy as GoT or Vikings, but the story is superb. Hitting hard from the first episode to the last, never-ending conflict, ups and downs that keep you glued. Season 4 was awesome, one of the best if not the best historical medieval series on Netflix. Can't wait another year for season 5.

Bernard Cornwell... that´s simple... the first season, even with few financial resources, is a great adaptation and from the second onwards it improves the quality of production even more. Excellent cast and very good soundtrack.

One of the best shows I have watched, from the first episode I was hooked. It normally takes me a good few episodes to get into something but not this. Once the first episode was finished, I had to watch the next. I believe that if it had the same budget as GOT did it would be as good as. I Can’t wait for season 4.

It is hard to adapt the book so that it is faithful, a little different and just as good as the original. The first season had a lot of changes due to the budget. The other had more momentum! The third had the courage to make changes that eventually turned out in favor. I love books and I think it's a great adaptation. What more could you want?
