This show was a pleasant surprise for me during its first season. I enjoyed it so much that I had a concern that the second season would be a let down. That concern was for naught. The second season builds upon the strengths of the first season and also shores up the few weaknesses I saw in the first season. The scenes upon the spaceship are still hilarious. Laugh out loud hilarious. Mr Hall is amazing in his portrayal of Jeff. How he manages to convey the emotions, frustrations and feelings through all that makeup is beyond my ken, but he does. Masterfully. For the second season, the Beacon-based scenes have most definitely upped the ante, helping with a comparatively weak area of the first season. For season two, the spaceship scenes and the Beacon scenes are on par with each other. That is a significant benefit for the show. The writing, character development and character portrayal remain absolutely first rate. As an example, I can read an episode's description in the DVR's program guide, and I'll chuckle as I imagine the characters acting out that scene. That's the strength of the characters. The following goes back to season 1, but I think it shows the depth of the writing. I had liked Tonto's Expanding Headband back in the day. Because of this show, I have taken the vinyl off the shelf and enjoyed TEH once again. This show is hitting it out of the park. It's fun, it's quirky, it has depth. And it has humanity. This show is a real guilty pleasure of mine. Honestly, I didn't expect to enjoy this on my first viewing but was pleasantly surprised. It's wonderfully ridiculous. There are decent laughs throughout but every so often someone will drop a line that is so hilarious you'll fall off your seat! It's worth watching for those moments alone. The cast as a whole is very enjoyable to watch, and they play off each other seamlessly. It's a lighthearted, funny and entertaining show. Definitely, one to tune into.
