Creatively the series has potential but all the same tired pitfalls its predecessors did. There is very little surprise to the series. For some that's a feature, not a bug.

STREAM IT if you’re an NCIS fan. NCIS: Hawai’i will give you more of the same stuff you love, with the Aloha state as a beautiful backdrop. If you’re expecting anything deeper than that, though, you should SKIP IT.

I haven't really watched a lot of NCIS before watching this. I came for Kate and Lucy, but ended up liking the other characters a lot as well. It's a fun, easy show that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Hawaii shows with the exception of the original magnum PI and Five 0 don't seem to make it. The latest Five 0 was ridiculous with the McGarett to Dano squabbles. I want to see what NCIS does. A little personal life is ok but every episode lesbian love. Please Please stop.
Most of us are not gay it has nothing to do with NCIS. I predict another cancellation on the horizon.

At least in the first episode, Lachey proves a perfectly solid center of gravity in her first leading series role; it will be interesting to see how much the show pushes her outside her comfort zone, if at all. ... If you’re already a fan, it’s worth giving a shot. If not, there are plenty of other shows in the sea.

New team, same stories investigating crimes involving military personnel.

By the way, if you insist on watching NCIS: Hawai'i in order to dispose of those excess brain cells clogging your neural pathways, never ever miss the first 10 seconds because that's when stuff blows up. The show may not have any money for acting or dialogue, but the TNT budget never seems to go low.

Exactly what you’d expect, but less of it. ... There’s no indication yet of the creaky banter and slightly quirky personalities that make the original “NCIS” a guilty pleasure, but these things take time.

Same old stuff different location. I hate it when there are no consequences for stupid & questionable actions, i.e. going against direct orders. Just once I'd like to see the main character(s) suffer consequences when they do something dumb, like in real life. And maybe the female lead could show a sense of humor occasionally. It's like she's afraid to smile because her face might crack. And the male lead spends his entire time on screen smirking which is extremely annoying so he should try to tone that down. But I do like the secondary female and male leads, they actually show promise. I understand that this is moving to Sunday nights so I am likely not going to watch it any more so won't know if they make any substantive changes.
