He [Nick Cave] talks fondly of the pop star as a “beam of light” and “the definition of joy”. The series gives you every sense of what he means.

What emerges, less through the sometimes stilted interviews with Harte and more via the archive footage, is Kylie’s sunny disposition, vitality and her immense struggle to become what she always was at heart – a magnificent pop star.

Amazing documentary about Kylie, showing to the audience the evolution of this Dance-Pop diva, her most difficult moments, both in her career and in life, but also her most deserved triumphs. My only issue with it is that it was too short. If you think you know everything about Kylie, this documentary is for you, but specially, if you don't know much, or anything, about her, this documentary IS for you.

The raw revelation at the end of Kylie gives it unusual power as a docuseries, bolstering the image of a pop icon by revealing how even in the harshest limelight, her toughest battles were fought alone.

Through this documentary, I see a woman who has had the darkest & loneliest of nights in private, but who in public would never let her mask slip. It must be utterly terrifying to let us in (partially) to a world she has so perfectly preserved. It does also make you wonder how much more she has endured that she has simply chosen to keep to herself.
