The first season of The Rehearsal was a truly unique television experiment, so it was always going to be a tough act to follow. But season 2 manages to be even more daring, profound, and subversively hilarious. No one thinks quite as far outside the box as Fielder.

“The Rehearsal” Season 2 [is] a cut above the vast majority of television, as well as a shrewd improvement on Season 1. And I said Season 1 was the best show of 2022, so…

The Rehearsal is a masterpiece of awkward chaos that plays as both an extension and expansion of his heralded Comedy Central series Nathan for You. ... Fielder takes things so far that it’s difficult to imagine how he concocted this lunacy and impossible to stop laughing at the bravado of his peculiar showmanship.

Beating reality seems like an impossible goal, but it is exhilarating, fascinating, and often very funny to see Fielder get closer and closer to it.

Uncomfortably funny, sneakily poignant and conceptually bananas. ... What starts as a life-hacking satire becomes a reality-comedy “Inception.” ... Entertaining but also disorienting. You are constantly gauging which sentiments are genuine, which emotions are more real than others, which scenes to invest in. ... And there’s a tender, even beautiful side to its surreal moments.

Fielder continues to have a knack for finding extreme personalities happy to show their quirks on camera, but “The Rehearsal” remains a show about his own journey. .... This may be why the story of Season 2, if not its undeniably impressive stunts, can feel auxiliary — like a spinoff with an extremely specific, transportation-related theme.

The New Yorker
In voice-over, Nathan expresses an odd bewilderment about his power to “create feelings for other people’s rehearsals” but not for himself. It’s a bewilderment that reflects the intellectual and emotional blankness at the center of “The Rehearsal.” ... His cleverness masks the hollowness of his schemes. No digression, no incidentals, no loose ends can intrude on Fielder’s taut, compact, self-contained sketches. He looks the Look at the people he films, but doesn’t seem to see them.

It is a funny, incredibly creative, subtly profound, and entertaining television show. A must watch.

part comedy, part drama, part I don't know what Nathan fielder has broken all natural media conventions to bring us a Frankenstein's monster of a show that gives a true insight into what it means to be an actor and more importantly human. extremely creative show, absolutely astonishing how Nathan elicits an emotion that is something I haven't experienced with a show before. An almost disgust mixed with fascination making you feel bad for watching but at the same time you need to know what comes next.

I was a huge fan of Nathan For You - but this is just more of the same. No reinvention, just a more absurd premise. I do not understand all of the high scores. This is an incredibly frustrating show and his decade old schtick doesn’t work in 2022.

This is the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen. It's not funny it's not nothing It's stupid. Votes who gave a 10 are from actors on the show
