It’s like nothing else on television. The start of the fourth season bursts out of the gate with two of the best episodes in the history of “Evil,” followed by a pair of episodes that are creatively rockier yet still captivating. “Evil” takes big swings—even the ones that don’t connect are fascinating. And weird as Hell.

The best supernatural, religious-themed comedic drama you’re not watching.

Satan's sidekick is no match for a wailing baby spewing bodily fluids. No sitcom this year has made me howl harder than the sight of comedy legend Andrea Martin as a nun fending off ghoulish demons only she can see with a pair of giant garden shears. .... Evil gleefully depicts the best and worst of all fantasy worlds, and I'm going to miss it. [3 - 23 Jun 2024, p.4]

Thankfully, if the episodes of "Evil" season 4 provided to critics ahead of the premiere on Paramount + are any indication, the show will go out being its best self: grotesque, hilarious, unusual, and utterly terrifying.

Even with the end (of the show, and possibly the world) looming over these episodes, Evil remains steadfastly itself: sticking to its case-of-the-week format, remaining wickedly funny, and unearthing the minions of darkness all around us.

On the basis of the season’s first four episodes, “Evil” remains one of the smarter, more entertaining and more stylishly produced shows out there, and it continues to carry the hallmarks of its creators and showrunners, Michelle and Robert King.

I love this show but very disappointed with the final season as it felt the writers didn’t know how to close the arc from the end of the previous season. The previous seasons had many horror elements and dark humour while I felt this season was more comedy and the ending was very tame. Loved the cast and would love to see more of this show. Netflix please resurrect the show!
