Absolutely fantastic! Rose is a perfect opening to NuWho, as it brilliantly sets up the tone, characters, and style of writing for this era in a fun and unique way.

A competent opening episode for the revival series. I particularly enjoyed Eccleston in the role of the Doctor, and his on-screen chemistry with Billie Piper was awesome. These two are the heart of the first season, and they kicked things off beautifully here. We're drip-fed information very slowly about the Doctor and his past, seeing him through the eyes of an ordinary person. I thought this was a brilliant choice; it makes this the greatest jumping-on episode for new fans and creates an active mystery for viewers of the Classic series, as something dramatic has clearly happened in the time between - although we don't know what. The downside is that this episode is a little too cheesy for a series opener imo. A flying plastic hand - a trash can that eats a character and then burps afterwards - and plastic Mickey are all just a bit too silly this early on, and run the risk of turning away new viewers. Regardless, it's a solid opening episode that accomplishes it's most important goal - re-ignite the flame of this franchise, and cloak the Doctor in mystery and intrigue for a new generation. Fantastic!

Far from the best episode ever and suffering from cheap effects and a thin story, but Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper are perfect from the word go, it has plenty of charm, the ending is invasion is fun and it kick-started a fantastic revival for the show.
