The love of LA and the strong storytelling, not to mention the top-notch characterizations and performances, remain as consistent as ever.

Neither the character nor the show makes apologies for being old school. Bosch isn’t the best or most original series, but it’s honest and reliable, like Bosch.

The acting, the writing and the cinematography are excellent. With so many moving parts the music is just a buffer for the weeping. This season hurt. More than I'd like to admit. There was honest resolution including the long running serial killer who got his. The setup on the Mayor was brilliant and it seemed to take so little time. That is the beauty of a show spread over 10 episodes. I love everything about this show and my congratulations for all the people who made it happen. Now it's time for another long wait.

Bosch returns to it's roots as a gritty LA detective after a crazy season 3 ending that had him on an island battling a rogue special forces agent. Season 4 for me was much better albeit at times a little confusing. He's back in LA following a high profile killing of an attorney and positioned on a task force trying to solve it. There were a few turns and twists and at least one major character development but the series seems to have gone back to it's old self as a modern noir set against the backdrop of LA which was what I loved about seasons 1 and 2. This season resolved some old loose ends and set up at least one more to solve next.

One of the best things the show figured out how to do was to draw lots of stories from lots of different Bosch novels, keeping Bosch, Edgar, and company so busy that there are never the dead spots you get in most shows that use the “It’s a 10-hour movie” narrative approach. This season, though, felt like it had too much on its plate in both quantity and quality of cases.

Bosch continues in it's 4th season to be consistently great television. It's like revisiting friends every year it comes back around. They wrapped up some major threads this time through, am hoping this doesn't mean this is its swan song, I want 20 more years of Harry Bosch & crew.

Four seasons in, Bosch remains a solid police procedural that does not add too many flavors, but still keeps its originality and brutally honest portrayal of police work.

While it doesn't break any new ground, Bosch continues to be a honest and well made cop/crime show. There are better shows in this genre but this still remains entertaining enough.
