An incredible anime you absolutely must watch with your kids. The story may seem complex for younger children, but with a few explanations everything becomes clear. It’s a real gem.

Absolute must watch. Absolute gorgeous anime. It broke me. Never felt this much to not real characters. Absolutely brilliant, interesting, original story. There was 0 and I repeat 0 bad thing about this masterpiece. Gonna watch soon Weathering with You, then Suzume. Makoto Shinkai is the writer. Fantastic. Japan is truly ahead of their time.

Easily one of the best anime movies I have watched, the plot can definitely be confusing on the first watch but it is undeniably entertaining and beautiful. The storyline, art style, visuals and cast are all fantastic!

I honestly don’t know what to think of this movie. The plot was extremely confusing and the resolution seemed pointless. Idk maybe that’s just me.

The scores for this are wild. It's a pretty good chick flick, it's a very mid film overall in the grand scheme of cinema. I have seen much better stories in video games and I get to play those too. Sounds nice, looks really nice, cliche's, plot holes, boring. So much just not tied in at the end. Whilst it does conclude, it doesn't answer many important questions from throughout the film that you really expect to be answered at the end but it's like only part of it is concluded, leaving bits with no explanation, or that make no sense, still left with no explanation. Very disappointing and if for any reason you haven't seen the Studio Ghibli films then this is an easy pass because pretty much every film in the Ghibli library is better than this. I say it's a chick flick but I watched this on my own. I guarantee if I'd watched it with my girlfriend she'd have said turn it off, it's boring. You really have to be a full blown Weeb to get enjoyment from a film like this and that is coming from someone pretty Weeby. I'm guessing the majority of reviews are from Weeb's cos no one else would rank this (mid at best) film so high.

My favorite anime of all time, the way makoto works on this is incredible, still it's very confusing and may take sometime to understand, but overall, it's perfect.

Beautiful animation and a touching story .

movie genuinely pmo. very boring overall. all it has is visuals, the romance aspect is mediocre, the plot is mediocre, and so is the ending. nothing really makes you say "wow" in this entire movie except, like i said, the visuals.

like the movie equivalent to care for me by saba. a lot of glaring and clear issues, yet the emotions are so strong that those can be brushed over. very very emotional and probably a masterpiece.

The character are written so well, but sometimes the movie shows us frames so beautiful that they grab our whole attention from the character. Really love this film.

Gorgeous anime in which a big-city teenage boy and small-town teenage girl swap places at night and affect change in each other's personal lives... just as soon as they've finished exploring their new bodies. The plot starts out fairly generic, but takes a twist in the middle that rescues it from ho-hum mediocrity and transforms it into something greater. Your Name. is very Japanese, in that both main characters speak in rapid-fire bursts, enunciating their every thought in a dreamy, poetic monologue, which alternately works for it and against it. There's a level of spirituality and self-discovery, too, that's unspoken but constantly present, and a message about how important it can be to get in touch with the male and female aspects of our personality. Beautiful on many levels, not the least of which is its raw visual splendor. It's one of the most staggeringly lovely animated films I've ever admired, stealing my breath with almost every scene; in many cases, I cursed myself for not speaking fluent Japanese because my eyes spent so much time on the subtitles. Both the rustic landscapes of a small, classical Japanese village and the crawling, flashy chaos of downtown Tokyo are fantastically rendered, sharing both a stunning aesthetic and a sense of warmth and familiarity by the closing scenes. A fresh, wonderful, touching tale with a little something for everyone, I'd dare to rank this with many of Studio Ghibli's finest.

There are not many movies either live action or animated, i can give a 10. This one is 11.

I found this movie quite boring. The story didn't told me absoluterly anything, but a great piece of visual animation, no doubt about it.

Ils en ont tiré un manga en trois tomes et après avoir vu le film, je puis dire que le manga était moins chiant à lire… oui, nettement moins emmerdant, c’est un fait. Ce qui n’enlève rien au côté extrêmement neuneu de cette histoire à l’eau de rose (c’est du shojo, cette merde-là !). Mais en film niaiseux qui se traîne comme un hamster mort, cette ‘oeuvre’ est vraiment très mauvaise et complètement ratée, en dépit du postulat de départ (celui des échanges de corps à distance… entre un garçon et une fille !). Tout y est en effet très lent et dilué sur plus d’une heure **** passé la moitié à peu près, ça devient carrément de la grosse guimauve pourrie à 100 yens le bout… accompagnée d’une musique gnangnan au piano pleurnichard, évidemment ! Les sentiments soi-disant exprimés ici sont maladroits et très bêtes, on dirait la bibliothèque Harlequin en version japonaise… japoniaise, pardon ! Donc, en fin de compte, j’écris ton nom mais aussi (et surtout) ta note : ça fera juste 1 ! un point pour la belle réalisation du film (c’est soigné et très joli, si, si). Et c’est tout !

This animation gave me a wonderful experience, allowing me to see a wonderful story that could not happen in real life, with a complete structure. Although the ending may not be liked by most people, I like this animation very much.

A beautiful movie. The setting and story is great. I would even go as far saying this film is a must-watch for anyone who likes anime.

There is always the debate between which is better, "Your Name." or "A Silent Voice", but the truth is that they are both beautiful.

Don't understand the high rating, as it is, don't get me wrong, beautifully animated, but there were just so many plotholes to the story that it was difficult to engage yourself into it. Questions like how were they able to switch bodies, and why they forget their names were all not explained. It just seems like lazy writing to me as some things were set up too coincidently, like how they meet up at the end of the film. Also the comet struck the place twice is also very unlikely and have to suspend your believe too much. The town eventually got wiped out, but is it not like groundhog day that they could try to save the town over and over again, until it works? Just with a romantic plot line just doesn't cut it, and the romantic plot is very thin aswell and wasn't enough to get me invested. Very forgettable storyline.

This was so beautiful. I was actually crying! Whether you are into anime or not, if there is just one you should see, then make it this. This is an anime of legend and will be honored for decades to come. It clearly deserves all the praise it's been given. The animation is gorgeous and vibrant. The OST is also wonderful with some haunting and heartbreaking melodies that stir the soul and capture the imagination. Clearly this was a labour of love and that shows. The plot is not new and has been done before many times. But the production, editing, pacing and overall writing of the characters is so masterfully done that it becomes it's own. The genre it best falls into is slice-of-life romance with a touch of fantasy. A little bit of a slow burn at the start, but does get momentum pretty quick. Overall: I can go on and on about this movie (it's a movie, not a series) but in short: it beautiful and a must see for all.

I have given chance to anime before but it has never been an engrossing experience to me. It failed to evoke any deeper emotions and reflections. But Makoto Shinkai-in this story of love, despair, redemption, search, and identity-managed to evoke these. The story is simply ravishing, and so is the graphic work. The verdant nature of Japanese countryside, the never-sleeping, always busy city of Tokyo. Enrapturing. Although I have heard some strong criticism of the music by RADWIMS, which is by some considered too teen, and inimical to the emotional substance of the story, I found it a perfect match. The sounds complemented more than well the despairs of the characters, and enhanced the visual beauty. Importantly, this is not only the tale of two Japanese adolescents swapping their bodies. It is the story of Japanese culture and history, tale of the struggle of Japanese youth, and metaphor for the tragedy that hit Japan in 2011. Combining all of these is not an easy task and could easily result in the chaos, yet this movie succeeded in combining these heavy themes in such a gentle, harmonious, and tender way. It was deservedly awarded numerous prizes in Japan and internationally.

Truly a masterpiece, and better than Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away (2001)... an excellent experience for anime fans that gives a very romantic and sentimental story and the final scenes are out of this world and one of the best scenes I have seen. It is totally one of my favorites and one of the best animation films in general.

My fav lovestory and one of my fav movies. They made a beatiful anime wich is very touching. I think I don't need to review this. The other user had already done this.

I really love this movie, the story is beautiful and the animation is perfect, very detailed, if you pause it at some point you can see a lot of details. And the soundtrack is also very good, RADWIMPS really did a great job with the music. Every time I watch it I feel a tingle and get excited even though I've seen it many times.

This movie make's me cry. All visuals are magnificent. Best time in the year.

Started out as a typical gender swap story, ended up as a really stunning movie that somehow does something with you.

It was really good, and had amazing animation, but "a silent voice" got me more

I loved learning about Musubi, I loved the body swap aspect of the plot, the beautiful visual imagery of the animation, the dream aspect of the plot and the songs played were fun, if perhaps (in one or two instances) a little energetic for me. I did love the piano pieces though/ Its a lovely example of anime. I find myself relating to the quirky characters, to times when they panic and so on. The sunsets look beautiful - there are some panoramic type scenes/moments which really took my breathe away. I like the noise of the crickets outside the house in some scenes and the young children badgering the teenage characters. I find the fantasy and spirituality aspects/elements of this film comforting. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it.

There is a lot to love about Your Name. The stunning visuals, the great soundtrack, its fantastic ending, I could go on. The entire body-swapping concept of this movie makes for some humorous and overall fun moments. However, the concept itself is a little confusing and leaves for more questions. Here is where my main and only problem lies with Your Name, and that is the handful of minor plotholes that are sprinkled throughout the movie. The main one that is prominent is the romantic development between the female main character, Mitsuha, and the main male character, Taki. A lot of the interactions they have failed to explain the sudden romantic significance that they begin to hold for each other. However, I think this can be glossed over and attributed to their mutual experiences with the whole body-switching fiasco. Either way, to build on this, hyper analyzing this movie will result in a loss of enjoyment. There are a fair number of plotholes, and for a person like me, I don't think that I can just pass over them and give such a high score. To be fair, a movie has only so much runtime, and so many concepts and other rough edges are unable to be fine-tuned in a movie that has to cover as much ground as Your Name. Regardless, Your Name can be appreciated for what it is from an artistic sense: an absolute masterpiece. The production is some of the best you will ever see, and I truly stand by that statement. It ultimately boils down to what you prefer. If you want a movie that will move you, then watch Your Name. If you are the type to read into details way too often like I am, then Your Name should probably not be your first pick for a movie, but you should still give it a chance, if only for its fantastic artistic presentation.

Best movie ever made? I believe so, because I didn't expect anything from the movie, but it surprised me in a way I've never felt before. There are several aspects that make this film perfect, starting with its landscapes, each place in the film is beautiful. the artistic style of the protagonists, Taki and Mitsuha, is very well done and designed, each with a very strong and sympathetic personality. The story was very well developed, every minute you want to find out what happens, curiosity is crucial in understanding this movie. Now, the point that made Your name a masterpiece for me: the soundtrack. The soundtrack of this movie is spectacular, the songs fit a lot into each moment of the story, often in sync with what's happening in the movie, especially the songs Katawaredoki and Sparkle, which are spectacular. For these and many other reasons, Your name is a masterpiece.

A beautiful symphony of media. Impressively displays just how spectacular an animated film could be when all mediums fall in place. The art, music, and story merge into a piece that is nothing less than amazing. The story itself is a little hard to follow. It is complex in nature and explores the laws of time. Time is a relevant theme throughout the entire film, but I would like to have seen it more sought after in the ending scenes. The characters' actions and dialogue are realistic. No part of the movie is rushed. All things just fall into place as they should be. Truly a masterpiece film.

The best anime movie so far. The animation and storytelling will make you fall in love with it. This movie made almost all of my friends in inner circle fans of anime movies. Please watch this. This will change your whole perception about anime.

It is an imprinted movie ever! I very enjoy this movie. It is amazing. It is interesting all the time because the movie is not boring. The story is fancy and modern. I like the plot that the boy from the city and the girl from the rural town are switching the bodies. I like how they show their culture in 2 sides (countryside & city). The story was written by Makoto Shinkai. This movie is one of his successful cause it gained a lot of money. The time for this movie is 107 minutes. It is look like the movie is long but actually it is not too long. All the time when I watching this movie, I really curious what will happen next. The illustrators and the animators of this movie are very skilled. The scene of the movie is very beautiful. The sky is very nice. Especially the scene that the comet is separating itself. The character in the movie too , They make very clear emotion of the characters. Some place is used from the real one such as Shinjuku, Shinano-machi station pedestrian bridge and Yotsuya Station. The movie soundtracks of this movie are really good too. That are sung by the Japanese rock band name Radwimps. I can listen the playlist of these songs for month! At last, I know that the characters in this movie, later appeared in Shinkai’s next film “Weathering with you”. I have to clear my time to see his movie! If you haven’t watched this movie yet, you should watch it once in your life!

An absolutely stunning film! There is nothing to even marginally dislike about 'Your Name'. The animation is sensational, breathtaking in fact. The amount of detail, particularly in Tokyo, is insane. It's utterly gorgeous to watch. Then you have the magnificent story, which is filled to the brim with feeling and meaning. I felt everything that it intended me to. It's also paced to perfection and is told through two memorable characters in Taki (Ryūnosuke Kamiki) and Mitsuha (Mone Kamishiraishi). Kamiki and Kamishiraishi are excellent in the lead roles. Of course I don't understand Japanese and was using subtitles, yet I still felt every intended emotion from those two. Class from them. Of the others, Ms. Okudera (Masami Nagasawa) is the one that sticks out most to me. If all that wasn't enough, you even have a tremendous soundtrack and score to boot. It really does all make for a fantastic viewing experience, one I will be revisiting no doubt and one I would undoubtedly recommend.
