You would think this was a Hong Kong movie but it's not. It got all the flair from a classic Hong Kong action packed movie, but this is actually a mainland China movie, set in Macau, has nothing to do with Hong Kong. It does have a mix of Hong Kong, South East asians and mainland chinese actors. Most notably ofcourse the Hong Kong actors Jackie Chan and Leung Kafai. The director is Larry Yang who is a chinese national from Hangzhou. The script is very smartly written, as you are thrown in the action right away, with not very much information about the antagonists whom their motives and their origin story are unknown, but oddly enough you are immediately invested in them from the very first second they hit the screen. What you do know is that the band of criminals are very determined in achieving their goal. Leung Kafai as the main villain has a very convincing edge to him and ofcourse Jackie Chan being the veteran police inspector did a very well job in portraying a caring mentor for his apprentice Qiugou, the role of Zhang Zifeng. The cat and mouse plot between the villain and the undercover police were engaging and exciting to watch and the siege of the police station by mercenaries was a cool adrenaline rush. Even though there were too much happening on screen to take in, but you get a sense of severity in the plot. This movie action quality is not lesser than from for example well established directors like Hong Kongs Dante Lam. And the action scenes not any less than any Hollywood Michael Bay movie. If this is the direction of mainland chinese action movies for the coming near future, then we have some exciting times ahead!

Not sure what I have just watched. It was just an incoherent mess with random scenes that basically said nothing. Obviously superb cast with Adrian Brody and Felicity Jones. But this was not their best acting work, so I dont understand why they even got Oscars for their acting. There was huge amount of overacting taking place, and the script was cliched and cringey most of the time. At some point I felt that this whole movie was an early April fools day prank, because I felt intellectually insulted by this movie, because it obviously was baiting the viewers attention with premises, but nothing actually happens.

After enjoying the previous renditions of this Monkey King franchise. I went into this movie expecting some fast paced action sequences, but was pleasantly surprised it actually had some heartfelt depth to the story. The special effects and CGI were top notch and helped to bring the magical world of Journey to the West alive and they did a splendid job at it. This tale is but just one of the many events our main lead group encounters on their Journey to the West in trying to obtain Buddhist scared scroll scriptures to help humanity and get themselves everlasting nirvana. Journey to the West is like the chinese Lord of the Rings. It has that much weight in chinese history and literature and maybe even more. The world of the nuer guo, or loosely translated as a country of only female human species was wonderfully depicted, and the essence of the original old tale was intact and brought to life with a modern take on it. Zanilia Zhao, or also known as Zhao Lying is as stunning as ever, and she captures the mood very well. She never misses. When even not talking, she can speak volumes only by looking at her expressions. She made her role believable and endearing. I think Soi Cheang is the director of the previous Monkey King renditions aswell. But if that is so then I wouldn't mind Soi Cheang will be directing the future parts of the Journey to the West story aswell, as he obviously know the perfect mix between action, melodrama, special effects and just good heartfelt story telling. Well done!

This movie has so much to go for, nice set designs, fairly good actors, but probably ruined by poor writing. Screenplay was corny and at times just cringeworthy. Motivations of the main characters were not convincing and downright not logical to begin with. The arena for the hunger games and action sequences was random and not satisfying. They tried their effort in building and depicting a dystopian world but it just wasnt it, it lacked depth and some soul. The vibe of this hunger game installment reminded me in the beginning alot of squid game. Squid game is a perfectly good example how a Battle Royale movie should be directed. But unfortunately after the disappointment of this Hunger Games I wont be looking forward to another one.

The film was wonderfully shot in an down to earth manner. No fancy over glorifying scenes, but just raw and gritty. And the direction of the movie to depict Napoleon Bonaparte as a flawed man and not the over glamorized general as people like to think he was, is an excellent decision. Napoleon Bonaparte was in fact in real life a flawed man aswell. While though unquestionably being a strategic military talented man, but people cannot possibly think Bonaparte was a genius man 24 hours a day 7 days week. This movie was about the man behind the General. Bonaparte was in fact a petty, egocentric, perverted and brutal dictator that is flawed in every aspect of the word and lead millions into their deaths because of his ambitions. Napoleon victories were in fact not victories, because it was due to the cost of huge amount of losses of lives. His marriage was also a mess, even though it is said he did genuinely love his wife Josephine, but even that was questionable. While not depicted in the movie but Bonaparte was said to have committing adultery right before his coronation, he also had an affair during his campaign in egypt right after knowing Josephine was having an affair back home in Paris. So the relationship between Josephine and Napoleon was an utter mess. There was also several assassination attempts against Napoleon Bonaparte, and thus shows he was not as loved and adored as people think. However the movie was for the most part historically accurate, both the events of Bonaparte aswell as the brutal battles and the senseless treatment of loss of lives and gives us a window how immoral times it were back in the days.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It was visually engaging, beautiful actors, and balanced perfectly well between a bigger than life space opera action movie but with a slight cheeky nod to all the other galactic space movies and even some references to the seventh samurai in gathering a group of gunho bunch of heroes. Stylistic it was well edited and payed good attention to detail and comedic effects. Actors sounded mostly european, as I figured that was probably the intention to do so, to give the movie a bit of a film noir cyberpunk styl of vibe, like they did in the movie 5th element or Valerian. All in all it was a pleasant watch and I am eager to watch the second installment of this, well done!

This second part of the movie sets the tone much in the same way as the first movie. Making the movie feels like cramming alot of story and backdrop in a way too small time frame. Which is logical considering Dune spans several novels with a history of 15.000 years of civilization. Villeneuve however put more focus on aesthetics rather than storytelling, Which makes the movie a bland and confusing thing to watch. The pacing is irregular, at some parts dragging alot and towards the end you get the feeling that it is rapping it up in a unsatisfying speed. Especially for people who are not familiair with the original material, you don't get the sense what the backstories are of the characters and why they made the decisions they made. Cramming a story like Dune in a two part sets of films, is probably not doing the story justice, should have been remade into an tv series to make it really work, therefore the rewatchability of this rendition of Dune is very unlikely.

Pun intended. Really not sure what all the hot fuzz is about, and why this movie has such a high critic and user viewer score. The pacing of the movie is all over the place and incoherent, the jokes downright not funny, and the scenes cringeworthy. This is nowhere the same quality as Shaun of the Death. That Hot Fuzz got almost the same score as Shaun of the Death is an insult to that superbly directed zombie apocalypse comedy. I do not say this often, and I am quite used to mediocre films, but this was utter Hot Garbage, and that is even putting it lightly. This was a disgrace to cinematic movie making in general, its a pass for me, not even rental worthy.

Overrated movie, don't understand the high score on IMDB. Not only was the editing horribly done and confusing, the message of the movie was highly politically biased and is basically propaganda. The movie was way too long and could have been 2 hours. And ofcourse it wouldn't be a Hollywood film if there were no misplaced sex scenes involved. The dropping of the bomb on Japan on none civilian targets was basically genocide and a war crime, but the movie didn't touch upon this subject. Also the movie fail to mention that Admiral Chester Nimitz who was in command of the pacific fleet campaign against Japan, wrote a petition to Harry S Truman personally not to use the bomb as the Japanese were about to surrender anyways. However Japan wanted to surrender to Russia under conditions. USA wanted Japan to surrender to USA unconditionally. The dropping of the bomb was therefore politically motivated and was not necessary. This is a failed opportunity of Nolan to clarify history and make this topic relevant that USA should never have built this bomb and use it and basically committed war crimes while doing so, but instead make it anti communist movie instead. The communist threat that never existed. Vietnam became a moderate country, and China is more capitalist than any western nations. The Soviet Russians became democratic and that worked out of them alot, NOT. Russia under a democracy became more military aggressive than during the Soviets communist era. Since democracies have conducted more wars the past few decades than communism, this checks out.

I didn't expected much going into this. But I was pleasantly surprised with the live action version. The actors are all well casted. And if you compare it to the animated version they actually have stayed very much true to the source material adding a little sprinkle of a modern sauce to it, that made it a fresh watch. While most people probably pondering about why Disney had to make this an inclusive woke version, however people tend to forget that this was a fairy tale from danish author Hans Christian Anderson and he never mentioned of what nationality or ethnicity his characters were. And that's what this is. It's fiction in an imaginary world and therefore anyone can depict the characters. This Live action movie of the beloved animated Little Mermaid did the original source justice and the writing and entire cast kept the vibe and magic of the original material alive and actually gave it an extra little more. This shows that diversity matters and can work! My compliments to the production!

Movie started of slow and sloppy. Actor roles were cliché and at times overacted by majorly Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. Artistic style of the movie was at times authentic 1960s feel to it, but at times it was Full HD crisp, which threw you a bit off the vibe of the time period that it was designated. All the more the topic of the movie is a very relevant one. Both the prominent newspapers mentioned in the movie (New York Times and Washington Post) are depicted to have high sense of morality and wanted to do good for the public. It is all the more sad to say these 2 prominent newpapers of today are full of fake news and its topic politically charged leaning towards a specific political spectrum in geopolitical reporting. In todays setting american newspapers aren't lacking press freedom, they abuse press freedom to the point of manipulating the masses and accommodating aggressive foreign politics of their government. In current times these newspapers should look carefully at their policies if they are really unbiased and subjective in their news reporting, and should remember to do their predecessors justice in keep reporting righteously and should refrain from bias.

I went to see this movie thinking to enjoy some hardcore sci-fi disaster movie, but I was unpleasantly surprised. While the sci-fi concept was interesting, but halfway through the first part of the movie, it was clear the story has taken a different direction. While that normally should not be a problem to enoy a movie, if the story actually have been setup smartly it would have worked out fine. In this movie however you have to suspend belief so much that it was kind of off putting. I cannot consider this movie as an sci-fi movie, but as an arthouse movie at most, because the story leans very much to the conceptual and metaphorical aspect of it, even on the metaphysical world, but with no clear purpose and poorly worked out.

I usually like Adam Sandler movies. And I am all in for a feel good sport movie too. But this movie is none of that. And this movie dares to even call itself comedy? Where was the comedy? The story was too cliché to be interesting. The dialogue and script was too cringe. And just dropping cameo appearance from actual well known people from the NBA couldn't even save this movie. The movie tries to appear realistic and took itself too seriously but failed in delivering. What resulted was a high school movie for kids. Even kids knows better than to put up with this. The actors were stiff and predictable. It was not Adam Sandler best performance either. So this was an one hit miss forgettable movie, that the world is better off without it.

I heard good reviews about this. And usually when reviews that are this good, it is bound to be overhyped. But I gave it a try anyhow to see if it lives up to the hype. Not going to lie, it started off kind of messy, and I had a hard time following the story switching between the english and chinese language. The scenes in the first half of the movie appeared incoherent and it was hard to understand what was going on. But then I discovered that this incoherence was consistent, like some mathematical constant and came to realization that maybe I should not approach this movie with logic and I should not try so hard to understand it, but rather let the movie take you in for the ride and get into it for the sensation of it all and see where it goes. And oh my, how it delivered. I wasn't expecting such an epic emotional rollercoaster experience, even with all the crazy over the top things happening on screen, it blended very well together. It literally included everything, everywhere, all at once that you ever wanted in a movie. This was a masterpiece of a movie. Instant timeless classic, and topics touched upon that are very relevant for our times. This also shows you that representation matters! It gives us a whole range of new and interesting perspective and content we never knew we wanted! My compliments for the script writers and producers for giving us this gem of a movie and it certainly lived up to the hype and more!

I thought going into this movie I will enjoy some classic Bollywood movie. How I was wrong. I am used to exaggerated storylines and over the top acting, but this was too much, even for me. The characters were extremely 2 dimensional for you to even care about them. This overexaggerated plotline only works if the characters are well written and if it can bring you some sympathy towards them. Neither the villain nor the protagonist were likeable. The Bromance came out of nowhere and not convincing. The CGI were terrible and the acting too cheesy, I felt the cheesiness oozing from the screen, and that's not a compliment, I cringed really hard that I had to bail out on the movie halfway. score of 1 point for effort.

The movie started off slow and appears to be incoherent, but it all comes together in the 3rd act of the movie and it is a worthy prequal and ties up superbly to the first movie, which was a great watch aswell. This is not your typical space battle laser guns sci-fi movie. This has a far more intelligent storyline that makes you think how future human civilization and its technology can turn out be and what humanity as a whole is capable of doing in order to survive. It provided great concepts as what space colonization and artificial intelligence can do. It's a disaster movie on an epic grand scale like we haven't seen before, it's basically a space opera, with a Night Shymalan type of plot twist at the end.

Avatar The Way of Water is basically the same as the first installment but with more characters that unfortunately aren't fleshed out well enough for you to care for them. The storyline of this second version of Avatar was basically almost exactly the same as the first movie 13 years ago. It even seemed that it didn't know which direction it wanted to go and just mashed up different events and ideas randomly together into a 3 hour movie, which eventually left you with an unsatisfying feeling. The 3D effect is however yet again top notch, you feel as if the characters were real and alive on screen, however I am afraid that the 3D gimmick has worn out over time, that 3D alone wont contribute significantly enough anymore to make a film watchable.

Well this was an unnecessary exercise. This actually made me tired of all the 80s throwbacks that are force fed into your faces. Felt like a kids movie, and if that was the case, then it is fine, but I think even kids will think this is too corny of a rendition. This wasn't even funny as a parody. Christian Bale as Gorr was a too generic of a villain, seen it before in dozens of movies and was a dime in a dozen. Marvel has become a money hogging scam and trying to milk this franchise as much as possible with nonsensical storylines. We should rate this honestly lower as to give a signal the audience is not dumb, we know what quality is and script writers needs to be more creative. To people who do love it, more power to you, have a nice life.

Don't understand the high rating, as it is, don't get me wrong, beautifully animated, but there were just so many plotholes to the story that it was difficult to engage yourself into it. Questions like how were they able to switch bodies, and why they forget their names were all not explained. It just seems like lazy writing to me as some things were set up too coincidently, like how they meet up at the end of the film. Also the comet struck the place twice is also very unlikely and have to suspend your believe too much. The town eventually got wiped out, but is it not like groundhog day that they could try to save the town over and over again, until it works? Just with a romantic plot line just doesn't cut it, and the romantic plot is very thin aswell and wasn't enough to get me invested. Very forgettable storyline.

While this movie obviously didn't aged well to todays standards. This is one of the lesser movies of John Hughes. First it was highly politically incorrect, border lining sexual harassments, promoting adultery, stereotypical racism and downright misogynism. If kids were watching this back in the days, no wonder decades later we get outpours of sexual harassment cases and a peak of #metoo movements, producing the harvey weinsteins and epsteins of our society. This was a recall and glimpse of the dark side of the 80s we didnt like, and rewatching it again, plants us in the face of the ugly reality. Especially the derogative scene where they depict racial jokes against a supposedly chinese, but play japanese music in the background and letting him speak japanese is not only discriminatory, but also shows us how ignorant people were with other culture back in the days and how racially biased Hollywood was to let asian act as stereoptypical dorks. Other than that, the script was mostly irregular and cringe, and some scenes totally didn't make any sense at all. The jokes weren't funny and was downright lazy writing. The actors were casted wrong with apparent age gaps that in normal circumstance would never encounter each other in their respective school settings. The characters were not likeable, not relatable and sometimes downright rude. Don't get me wrong, Molly Ringwald was incredible as ever, but the storytelling and script was embarrassingly cringe and forgettable.

This was a fantastic tribute to the Ghostbusters series, so well done that it could basically be a standalone movie for younger generations to get a taste of and explore the wonderful saga of the Ghostbusters world. The kid actors done a great job and had superb chemistry together, giving me vibes of the Breakfast club, Goonies and E. T. all in one movie. A cameo of the previous cast was a welcome surprise, but the new cast done so well, that it would have suffice if only them were on screen. Learning about the passing of Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler, I was amazed they put him back to life with CGI, and I didn't even notice it was computer generated imagery. The lighthearted humor of the movie made it a pleasant watch and I would not mind seeing the entire cast for a next installment!

This movie aged very well. The idea of gathering history most well known literature fictional characters and bring them to life in a single movie is extraordinary indeed, if not, geniusly done. The special effects blended well and gave it an immersive, almost old school like style movie watching experience, which elevated this to an instant classic!

Matrix literally resurrected in every possible way with this installment and what a superb resurrection it is. Every actor performed well in this movie even the extras. It was like seeing good old friends as soon as Keanu and Carrie-Anne were on screen. A good balance of suspense, humor, sarcasm and bunch of new concepts and ideas, which can be used for further continuation of the franchise. The CGI and special effects were well done, they look upgraded but also felt familiair with previous movies. The dialogues were well written and flowed surprisingly well. All in all it was a good fun ride and a welcome treat!

This movie is about the first major battle from imperial japanese against China in 1937, when the war didn't even started yet in Europe (world war 2 started in europe in 1939, almost 2 years later). First of all in a cinematographic standpoint, this was a masterpiece. Second of all, how can people dare to say this is propaganda, when there are actual historic footages from that time still in historic archives depicting that event, recorded by journalists. And the movie didn't even portrayed the chinese soldiers having a victory, but it was a bloody retreat, as was described in history that is even recorded and known in western history books. And the soldiers weren't even communists, they were from NRA from Chiang Kaisheks army. Also the West, as in The League of Nations didn't lay a finger to help the chinese to fight fascism. It's a shame and disgrace of western cinemas not putting this movie in mainstream theaters and telling the story about the brave sacrifice these chinese soldiers have made in trying to defend their dignity and country.

Donnie Yen probably made this movie as an excuse to smash things up lol What a fun movie this was. This is your typical signature Donnie Yen movie, with unapologetic hardcore brawls, together with an all star cast and a barrage of renowned Hong Kong actors, new and of the past, having cameo appearances. This movie is like a revisit of old school Hong Kong movies what we all came to love, combined with some Hollywood influences, with fast paced action and dialogues and a story line that goes all over the place lol, in a good way. Also the theme that there is no absolute good nor absolute evil in the police force is a reoccurring theme, that even applies in actual real life of late. I give it a 10 because it didn't took itself all too serious and some scenes were even comedic, paired up with some awesome action sequences, so you can't really go wrong with this.

It was a classic Bond movie the first quarter into it, but then it dragged on for too long with no purpose. The only action sequence that were up to par and memorable were in Italy, but the rest were quite random to down right unwatchable. The Villiain was forgettable aswell, and his motives just didn't made sense. I know this was supposed to be Daniel Craigs last movie as James Bond, but it was not necessary to make it melodramatic. Previous Bond actors didn't do that aswell. An end of an era, and hopefully some fresh installments for the next.

Bad Boys really brought everything to the game with this, some Miami Vice caliber type of **** going on. Good dose of storyline and comedy, had me rolling on the floor. Bad Boys for Life, it can't possibly be the last!

There is a whole lot going on in this movie and I know its a build up to the second installment, but however with all the grandeur that is happening, it doesn't avoid the undeniable fact that it is unfortunately lacking a bit of soul. While it tries hard to do so, but the characters arent fleshed out enough for you to even care about them and certain editing decisions are a bit odd which hurts the flow and logic of the movie. Scenes that appears totally random or rushed and adding nothing to the story. Again the personalities aren't fleshed out which makes the viewer have no empathy for whats going on. The whole watch was like a hallucenetic bad trip, maybe it was intended to be that way, in that regard it is a succes lol

Amazing animation! To sum it up, its basically an ancient chinese mythical westside story take on Romeo and Juliette kind of story, but more epic :)

Everything is epic about this animation, or Donghua as the chinese say it, which roughly translates as "moving painting" and is the equivalent to the japanese Anime. Its grandeur comes from storyline, music, characterization, the message, and ofcourse the animation. It's a rollercoaster ride experience, with a message of piety and moral righteousness in grand proportions. Truly one epic scene after another from beginning to the very last end!

This is Eddy Murphy and Arsenio Hall at its best as we know them. Surprised they took so long to make a follow up of the original, because they didn't lose their touch and were back in the zone. It was non stop fun. Didn't take themselves too seriously and that adds to the fun. The entire cast was great, even the extras. It was filmed in the same lighthearted tone as the original. The look and feel had a familiar 80s vibe to it together with the barber shop cameos. Wonderful remake! Took me straight back in time to the good old days!

It started out as your typical coming of age highschool boy story, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The first quarter of the movie, despite being very much cliched, was still entertaining. I got breakfast club vibes. But as the story progresses it just became weirder by the minute and not logically sound put together. Now I do not shy away from irregular storytelling which can be very engaging, if done well. But the placement of certain events in the story that is supposed to get you emotional, just didn't do it for me. The choices the characters made were not logical and felt like just put there randomly to try if the audience would fall for it amidst the confusion that was displayed and be done with it. Lack of inspiration is the best thing to describe this movie, which is a shame with such a talented cast, but I didn't felt invested. Big disappointment for me

If you ever have watched the 2003 indie movie "The Room" then you know that that movie was labeled as one of the worst films ever made. However it was said by the actor and director of the movie himself, Tom Wiseau, that the movie was intended to be black humor, hinting that the awkward dialogues and bad acting were put there deliberately to create confusion and was not meant to be taken seriously. TENET felt like such a movie. But what worries me the most is that TENET was probably in fact a serious attempt at being a pretentious movie. The plot and dialogue were absolute nonsensical that it slowly became comedic, were it not that Nolan intentions probably was to make an intelligent movie, however done it so that it was deceiving and played games with the audience perception, but underestimated the intellect of the audience, meaning you cannot cover up nonsensical plotlines with confusing dialogues. Now I am all for absurd dialogues in the style of maybe like Quentin Tarantino's movies, but it needs to be executed smartly, not randomly. Therefore as a deliberate black comedy, I would have given this movie a 9, if it was intended that way, but I think not. So I give it 3 stars and this movie might end up in the list as one of the worst films ever made next to "The Room"....

I was expecting some crossover between Madmax and Big Trouble in little China or even had hopes with glimpse of glory to the likes of Running Man. Had my popcorn and beer ready for some hell of a crazy 80s retro action flick ride. However the story and execution of this movie were poorly lacking. Most of the time you don't know what is really going on. The humor was a bit off. And the oneliners didn't really matter much. The characters were flat and the different factions and gangs in the forsaken barren depiction of New York Manhattan City weren't explained and weren't fleshed out. You just didn't care much about them all. There weren't even that many of New York landmarks to make this movie a worthwhile watch, this movie could have been filmed anywhere else, it didn't made it feel like explicitly New York, which is a shame. The actions were bland and lacked inspiration. And overall it was trying too hard to be something, but failed at it. Even for a B-movie this was badly executed and an abomination of a film. I would not even recommend this for nostalgia sake, it leaves a bitter after taste that can only be forgotten by washing down with some couple cans of more beer......

At first I didn't knew why the viewer ratings were so low, so I was curious to see this movie for myself. Then I discovered that most user ratings were politically motivated, and nothing but anti-china bots, with nonsensical reasons to make this movie look bad. In that regard they failed their purpose, because its free publicity and it made me actually wanting to see the movie even more. After watching the movie myself, I can truly say it was beautifully made! The movie had good build up, majestically filmed. Yifei as Mulan was charismatic and her charms added depth to the character Mulan. She sometimes speaks volumes without saying anything, and when she does say something its meaningful, those are rare qualities of an actor. At times it gave me goosebumps to finally see a live action version of Mulan, I have to admit I had to wipe some occasional tears away throughout the movie. Mulans companions were funny and their camaraderie was heartfelt. Fun fact: Honghui was historically the love interest of Mulan, not Shang Li from the animated movie ;-) Even though without the musical songs that made the animated version popular, but there were enough references to the animation throughout the movie that made it satisfying watch and did honor to the animated version. All the actors were great and solid, especially the father played by Tzi Ma was convincing as a caring and inspirational father to Mulan in such a short timespan of character development. Sad fact: Historically Mulan fought a war campaign of 12 years. She never did get to see her father again, because when she got home her father already died of old age. Traumatized by warfare, Mulan never became her old self, she got depressed and committed suicide, hoping she could reunite with her father in the afterlife being that carefree loving daughter again.... The encounter with the Witch (Xianniang) played by Gong Li was superbly done. I think the witch might even have been a metaphor for Mulans inner fears. It was so poetically well executed. I am glad Jetli got to do some of his last few action sequences, as Jetli is suffering from returning illnesses, the reason why he doesn't do much action nowadays. Bori Khans character is the equivalent of Shan Yu in the animated version, and is in the live action more fleshed out as to what his motivations were for attacking the kingdom, that was a nice touch. Also nice references to chinese Wuxia genre, where lifeforce and chi are prominent for martial art masters. For the people that missed Mushu, there is a reference of a phoenix though that helped Mulan, and in chinese folklore phoenix represents a woman. I recommend this movie highly for the fans of the original animation and for people who are new to the story of Mulan. For me it was A well worthy tribute to both the legendary chinese folklore story Mulan aswell as the original disney animated version!

Last Disney animated movie I have watched was already a long time ago. But always had good memories of Disney magical and musical worlds that they created. There was so much hype around Frozen and with the fact that they won 2 oscars with this, I finally put myself to watch it. Oh how I regretted my decision. The precious memory I had of Disney's magic was totally gone in an instant. Has Disney quality story telling really come down to this? Disappointed. Really don't know what the hype was about. It was a mess of a story with too many potholes. The Kingdom is portrayed as static as your typical Disney theme park. It had no soul, no atmosphere. The narrative of the story was rushed, you don't get any background explanation why Elsa was born with her powers and why others did not. The trolls saved Ana once, why couldn't they do it again, yes they said it was her heart this time not her head, which is a lame excuse, but okay. Besides, they misled her that she needed a true love kiss, which spun the story into confusion. If an adult finds it confusing, imagine how kids feel watching this? Talking about kids, the message of the story is not a good one for the kids. Ana was getting head over heels with the first man she meets (Hans), and then loving another man she meets even shorter of a time span than the first one. Crazy thing is she didn't knew she loved Christoph until her life needed to be saved. But turn out she doesn't need a mans true love to save her life in the first place. That was some crazy stuff happening right there, and it will send a wrong message to kids that fooling around with love is apparently okay according in this Disney **** if Disney says doesnt matter who you fool around with, as long as you find true love... Apart from the catchy song "Let it go" the queen Elsa really was not a memorable character. She was not coherent in her ways, indecisive and at times borderline evil and mental. Not a likable character. She was able to control her powers for all these years, and suddenly losing control over it doesn't make sense. Why doesn't Elsa push forward Ana to be queen, if Elsa was so afraid of letting people know her secret powers? And then the not so convincing silly plot twist where Prince Hans turn out to be this scheming evil person. Where it yet again send kids into confusing why this Prince charming seemingly turn into a bad person overnight. That is some lazy screenplay writing right there. Mess of a story, enough said. I would have given it a 0, but 1 score for the effort, that's about it.

I enjoyed this new installment from Adam Sandler very much. Hence, I don't know why this movie got a so low rating. This is your classic typical Adam Sandler comedy. If you like Adam Sandler type of movies, then you will certainly like this one. It has all the Adam Sandler quirks that you are accustomed to, but with more subtlety and sophistication and ofcourse some are borderline absurdity, but thats what we like about Adam Sandler style of humor. The pair up with Jennifer Aniston turned out to be perfect, as Jennifer is a queen of sitcom comedy herself, you can see that she immersed herself perfectly in the comedy world of Adam Sandler. The rest of the cast were quite engaging and by the end of the movie, you wish this could be a franchise and longing for a part 2 !

Avengers Infinity wars and Endgame might very well have been one movie and therefore could have saved me a ticket to the movie theater for the second time round. It wasn't necessary for it to be divided into two parts, hell it wasn't necessary for Endgame to be almost 3 hours long considering the flimsy plot! After I saw infinity wars, I already had a suspicion I was cheated, and Endgame proved that I was right. This entire movie was trying to drag for so long and even the quasi emotional scenes just didnt do it for me. I felt nothing when Black Widow jumped to her death, which was one of the few parts of this movie that actually made sense, sacrificing someone dear to get the soulstone. But what it came down to is the cliched classic jump back in time travel plot, however it wasn't supposed to be like Back in the Future, so they say. But Captain America came back in the same time-line as an old man, so how is that not like Back in the Future?!? Also Captain Marvel was totally hyped, but didn't played much of a role in the entire movie, talk about overhyping it! You see I have been **** all of you aswell.

I though this installment and addition to the Marvel Universe was quite well done, not as bad as most reviews pretend it to be, and the low rating it got is more due to political reasons than it is about the movie itself. Which is sad and pathetic at the same time. Makes you question the credibility of the rating system altogether. The movie review scene have become a political battlefield of trolls and alike. But back to the movie, it isn't without plotholes, but as like all Marvel movies you have to suspend your believes. Yet again all the superheroes that matters seems to be white caucasians, and the kree and skrull alien race can speak english? Okay Captain Marvel has a universal translator (while the others humans have not and still understood what each other were saying), and she doesnt seem to carry her translator with her all the time, but okay, suspend belief.... Other than that it was an entertaining super hero movie, and Brie Larson did a good job in portraying a confused hero trying to find who she was. Brie was compelling, funny, rebellious, great chemistry with Samuel Jackson, a good role model for the kids and towards the end she really makes you believe she can take on the Universe, and that is the accomplishment you need for a super hero movie!

Well this was a fun ride. Great adventure like action, was hell of a roller coaster ride. Even though there isn't much to the story, it was certainly full of plot holes, but the movie wasnt meant to be taken too seriously. But noticeably is that Atlantis appears to be populated by white people only. The myth about Atlantis is that it was an island in the Mediterranean or the Southern part of the Atlantic ocean. That means it should be populated with a mix of Mediterranean or African people. And that means people with a darker skin and darker hair color. That wasn't the case in the entire movie. So I am afraid its yet again a bit of a white washed Hollywood depiction. In this case it's not the fault of Hollywood, most action hero comics are a bit white supremacists. Not trying to politicize the movie, but its worrisome that these kind of things are starting to get noticeable which influences the movie going experience and enjoyability....

This was a decent sci-fi action movie in the likes of Armageddon or Deep Impact. With grand special effects and scenery. Wu Jing the lead character did a pretty good job at dramatic acting, while normally he is known for his martial art movies, but in Wolf Warrior we got a glimpse that he can act the actionhero drama aswell. I read The Wandering Earth short story from chinese award winning sci-fi author Cixin Liu, and how this film ended we are in for more and probably a sequel. The journey to Proxima Centauri is set to be 2500 years, spanning 100 generations, if done well, thats bound to leave room for more stories and maybe a starting point for a franchise!

This was an unnecessary adaptation of the Japanese Anime. Although a CGI fest, but the special effects didn't add much to the story and didn't contributed in the visualization of the world where Alita resides in. You are as confused about this world before, as you are after watching this movie. This is a perfectly good example that extreme use of CGI galore doesn't make a good movie, and even makes it lacking some soul. The original main theme of the Anime is the childlike innocence relationship between Hugo and Alita. But in this live action movie that relationship was a bit under the radar, and it got replaced by fast paced illogical action sequences. Many people who saw the movie gets the wrong impressions. It didn't capture the essence of the manga. This movie shouldn't be about Alita alone, it's about the people around her. As for the CGI. I know that Alita is supposed to be a Cyborg, but her emotions on screen are a bit fake. Gestures and smiles were often misplaced. However she is also too much CGI to look like a Cyborg. Maybe it would have worked better to use a human face instead of a CGI generated one. Especially when all other Cyborgs in this movie did use human faces which made it look more natural. And with Alita being the only one CGI generated, it seemed a little bit off... It doesn't have the gritty and cyberpunk feel of the original anime/manga. The dialogues were plain and not memorable. Character building is not well fleshed out, and that is maybe due to poor casting. The role of Hugo was highly underestimated and needed a bigger caliber young actor to fully display its persona. Hugo was a big part what drives Alita, and Hugos insane obsession with the Sky City Zalem didn't got through in this movie. The movie didnt make you feel anything for the characters, and that was the main thing that made the Anime a success in the first place.
