Overall package is potent. A few rock-the-house scenes of slam-bang derring-do -- are nothing short of sensationally exciting.

Wiseman, a former art director and music video director, has a definite sense of style and pace, and the creature transformations are eye-popping. In addition, the cast raises the movie above the level of routine genre schlock.

The relentless expansion of a sapphire-hued war: A 5.0-star "sensational" surge of dark immersion.2012 (5.0)I watched "Underworld: Evolution" in 2012, and it served as a "sensational" escalation of the gothic atmosphere that had already captivated me in the first installment. This sequel managed to maintain a "chewy" and high-tension narrative rhythm, expanding the mythology with a "raw" intensity that felt perfectly aligned with my craving for visceral storytelling. The blue-tinted, dark aesthetic remained "vivid" and stylish, **** the fourth wall of generic action sequels to deliver a truly immersive experience. I found the origin story of the Lycans and Vampires to be a brilliant "revelation," adding layers to the already "pathetic" yet fierce struggle for dominance. Unlike the stagnant 1.0-star or 2.0-star "narrative voids" I encountered in 2012, this film provided a relentless emotional and physical payoff that kept me 100% engaged. The 95% preservation of my excitement is rooted in how the film balanced its brutal carnage with a deep sense of historical weight. It stands as a perfect 5.0-star pillar in my archive because it didn't just replicate the success of the original—it amplified the "sensational" darkness and the high-tension stakes, cementing the series as a cornerstone of my favorite genre encounters.

This one is my favorite out of the series. A lot more action throughout. Plus Michael is my favorite character as well being a hybrid, it's pretty sweet.

They're still fighting in this sequel. But this is a more visually inspired, muscularly made movie than its predecessor.

The plot is so convoluted that missing even five minutes at a stretch won't make any difference in your comprehension of the story.

There's no guiding power at work here; it's Evolution without a shred of intelligent design.

Underworld Evolution has antecedents in literature ("Dracula"), film ("The Matrix") and song ("Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue"). How does it rip off so much, yet learn so little?
20
But for all her slinky, undead-chic looks, Beckinsale can't carry the film on curves alone and there's not much else here worthy of attention. Evolution's action sequences are as horribly bungled as its plot, resulting in a string of repetitive confrontations that feel toothless even by the last movie’s standards.

... silencer on and then head shooting any critics that caused this error of user score being 8.7 with sadists criticising this and other movies while having just a metascore rating of 36?! with 3 positive and 9 negative and moderate reviews? This clearly shows that newspapers have staff hired that is not conform with the people. Maybe firing and hiring might cause a higher turnover of newspapers when suddenly editors and writers are really writing something that is conform with 85 % of the rest population who actually rate such movies as state of the art with actors defining a franchise for decades for tens if not hundreds of millions with a clear success as their rating shows.

Okay, so after the first Underworld which I unexpectedly not a fan of however I finally did watch the sequel Underworld: Evolution making sure I find it to be good than the first and, no. I didn't find it to be as good but yet not a bad film per say but I expect far more from this. Underworld: Evolution follows after Underworld previously where Selene fights werewolves and now in Evolution, she has to go and fight Markus Corvinus to protect the future from his hidden past. And he remember the flashbacks by stabbing and biting someone. Yeah I know Selene does the same thing. Okay, not the stabbing. Did I forget to mention that Underworld is the same thing as Resident Evil? No, I haven't. Other than that, I can't remember a thing about Underworld: Evolution apart from the constant werewolf fights and they're not as enjoyable but what can I say? It's for the fans. As much I find the first Underworld to be just okay, this one is mediocre but still all right but I wasn't a fan like I said. Will I watch it again? I don't know. I might have the same reaction if I did decided to watch it again. However I'm glad I've watched the first one twice and this one once. But if you do like Underworld: Evolution like the first one then this is probably for you and the fan base. Pop it in and judge for yourself.

More vampires vs werewolves nonsense but this time the big, top, head cheese vampire is back & he's annoyed & trying to find his brother.
Much better than the first in that the story is a lot stronger, the effects are more convincing & less pouting from Kate Beckinsale.
One or two silly moments but the opening scene is very good indeed.

This was the second film in the "Underworld" franchise but I saw it in third place, after "Underworld" and the prequel "Underworld 3". In this film, we follow the continuation of the events of the first film: Selene and Michael flee the vampires and the Lycan that chase them, while the oldest vampire still alive, Marcus, wakes up to chase them too. It is a typical teen film, full of action and violence. The direction is ensured by Len Wiseman, who continues to show weaknesses such as the exaggerated way in which he cares about the appearance and style, making the film sounds like a video game, absurd and impossible. It is also obvious the disregard in which he treats the script, which is so weak that the whole story sounds unlikely. It was thought to support the action scenes and not the other way around, that is, considering action scenes as a complement to a well-structured story. As a result, the film loses impact and interest as the minutes go by and everything becomes simply over the top and excessive. The cast is led, again, by sexy Kate Beckinsale, who is good at the task of looking cool and tough but exaggerates in her performance and has no chemistry with her romantic partner, Scott Speedman, who is basically a decorative figure. Derek Jacobi is very regal in a film unworthy of him, Steven Mackintosh is uninteresting and Tony Curran exists only to appear to be violent and bad... permanently. The rest of the cast doesn't matter. Technically, it is a film that bets almost everything on action scenes that are stylish and too incredible to be realistic. We almost never feel the danger or risk that the characters have to face because of this permanent exaggeration. The special effects and CGI are the best and they must have cost a considerable portion of the film's budget. Almost all monsters and werewolves were well made and designed. However, filming is banal, cinematography is permanently gloomy and blue and soundtrack is the same one that has been used in other films so far.

This Underworld, only slightly better than its predecessor, is a sex filled gore fest, which would fine, except that the film takes itself way too seriously.
