The Sadness is good. Not just genre-specific good, but cinema good. And even when it arrives at the inevitable ‘who are the real monsters’ scene, The Sadness still has bite.

The Sadness is incredibly gorey and gleefully embraces just about every documented taboo—but instead of an exhausting edgelord sensibility, it accurately depicts just how little convincing a crumbling society needs to obliterate itself.

This movie is one of the most shocking and violent I've ever seen, and I love it. My only complaint is the ending that while not bad, was somewhat disappointing.

This is setting up to be Horrorific, as we've got the cutest couple opening our story with the start of their day. And it begins in the most Gruesome manner, and you won't believe your eyes at the Sheer Brutality of the scenes. This is one to remember as It's very much like open warfare on the senses with lots of generous amounts of Pure Terror and Oodles of Gore, and where Bravery will be met with Unbridled and Wanton Ferocity. It's Impressive how much Compassion people have when all is in Pure Kaos, and people are in Full Depravity Mode.

The Taiwanese horror movie The Sadness is both conceptually exhausting and viscerally upsetting—an ideal summer movie for the third year of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The acts of violence writer-director Rob Jabbaz has his characters inflict upon each other are as depraved as can be and seemingly devoid of remorse.

The recurring dependence on sexual violence as a shock tactic is, however, a desensitising misstep. Nevertheless the assured command of style situates Jabbaz as an impressive new voice in horror cinema.

For a debut feature, it’s impressive and thoroughly committed to its vision of Hell on Earth. The atrocities, bleak tension and stomach-churning imagery are unstoppable, the director deeming them necessary for maximum impact.

[Rob Jabbaz] can’t find the proper measure of finesse and shamelessness to marry his grotesque gore and violence to, given the moral lessons he seems to think he’s obligated to offer.

One of the most brutal zombie movies I have ever watched. The horror here is real and visceral, though some scenes felt unnecessarily gory and brutal just for the sake of it. The dialogue can be a bit hit-or-miss, and at times the production has a low-budget or series-like feel rather than a big-screen epic. However, the "not so typical" zombie concept makes it a fresh entry in the genre. If you are a fan of raw survival horror and can handle the extreme gore, this is a solid recommendation.

Not the best and not the most violent "zombie" movie I've seen but a fun time with a couple of friends & beers nonetheless.

'Crossed' lite. The director acknowledges the influence but favours the sadism and perversion over the social commentary which made Garth Ennis' comic such an enduring and disturbing classic. A passable exploitation film nonetheless.

Still better than terrifier 3, but still is an absolute **** too. At last the desgusting part is really well made but I don't know where is the interest of a movie like that.
