What a horror film SHOULD be - dark, tense, and punctuated by just enough gore to keep the viewer's flinch reflex intact.

Criminally overlooked in the States, this is one of the best horror movies of the last few years.

amazing movie, the beginning is a little slowly and a little boring, but since the minute 20 became a very amazing movie, show in a realistic way what happens in a very bad situation, and the final is totally impredicible and shocking

Awesome, i absolutely love the idea of the story, there should have been more seasons and movies on this topic

While it's riveting throughout, The Mist is a bit bloated.

The movie has a monster problem -- the more you see of them, the less scary they are -- most of the characters are standard-issue types, and Harden seriously overdoes the pious psycho bit.
50
The Mist doesn't provoke further thought; it provokes active annoyance at being punished in the service of a pulp morality tale with pretensions.

Until the director Frank Darabont decides that he’s saying something important instead of making a nifty horror movie, The Mist isn’t half bad.
30
A lumbering and depressing movie.

I wasn't expecting much (indeed, the first twenty minutes was quite bad), but the film quickly redeemed itself with dark, human drama. The ending is also disturbing, but brilliant. The special effects could have been better, as could the monster designs.

This movie is not good. The plot, rather than having you on the edge of your seat, will have you slumped down in it, drinking that sweet, sweet Pepsi-Cola you bought at the grocery store where you picked up this movie. The acting is nothing special. The soundtrack is boring. The movie relies on blood and jumpscares too much to say, "It was so spooky!" but rather, "Eh, it startled me a couple times." It isn't a 0 because it isn't awful. It's just bad. It's mediocre at best, and not worth any amount you pay for the disc or on Amazon or anywhere. As for the ending, instead of making us go like, "OH. EM. JEEEEEEEEEE!" we ended up chuckling at that excuse for a sad ending. Basically, don't watch it. It isn't worth two or three hours.
