Like Carrie without the telekinesis, this horror movie replaces the supernatural with blunt brutality and dark humor to terrific effect.

Sean Byrne endows his rote slasher material with the kind of blackly comic wit and levity that virtually guarantee its entry into the contemporary midnight-movie canon.

There is clearly a lot of ambition to The Loved Ones and the near-brilliant leading performances help make the film a unique and terrifying experience.

Transcends mere torture porn -- though there's plenty for the squeamish to squirm over here -- in its deftly controlled mix of empathy, grotesquerie and sardonic humor.

Einer der besten Coming of Age Filme, die ich bisher gesehen habe. Gruslig, nicht unblutig, absolut innovativ in der Kombination "Horror" und "Teen-Movie" und sehr stylisch. Ich kann ihn nur empfehlen!

The story and the idea were smart. The actors were good and what happened in the film was interesting. I liked the movie though it was a bit cruel. However, It is one of the best thrillers I' ve seen and i recommend it to anybody who has no problems with violence

This is one go the great horror movies that are utterly disturbing, but you cannot look away. It gets more and more intense and horrifying as it goes along, with a brilliantly twisted performance by Robin McLeavy. A few moments of humour and a true Australian grounding make this a fine film.

Saw Meets Prom Night (Brittney Snow Version) The Plot Is Very Creative, And Has Alot Of Twists.. The Cast Was Good, Although They Are Not Well Known They Will Be After This Film.. Great Horror Movie!

The Loved Ones have a creepy and macabre aura. That's more than undeniable. But it is also undeniable that once the torture device becomes all that this story offers, then it becomes quite boring because as time runs its course, the only thing I had in mind was - because clearly we weren't going anywhere else - what's next for the poor bastard? And that ladies and gentlemen, is a tremendous waste.
