We suspect that the film will be about their various problems and that the hotel will not be as advertised. What we may not expect is what a charming, funny and heartwarming movie this is, a smoothly crafted entertainment that makes good use of seven superb veterans.

As for the Marigold Hotel, well, it's not the Delano. But overall it's a fine spot to spend a couple of hours.

This is a sweet, poignant, warmly funny, character driven movie that I can recommend highly since it is not a quick action, car chase, explosive, fight filled, special effects film. You have to devote some easy time to become familiar with these older people and yes, older people have problems of their own that are just as worthy and significant to them as ours are to us. When all too often movies are made to to provide some type of satisfaction quickly before we become bored, this film moves along slowly drawing you in to caring about these people. It takes more devoting of time by the viewer than the normal action movie but it's worth it. I wish they made more movies like this.

The powerhouse cast is so capable, the actors just about manage to play the picture as if it were a "Midsummer Night's Dream"-style frothy farce, with marigold garlands and picturesque poverty.

A little youth is injected via "Slumdog Millionaire's" Dev Patel and Tena Desae, but they are supporting players. Still, as one might expect from a group of actors in this age range, the performances are impeccable. Experience does count.

Unfortunately, the script, based on Deborah Moggach's 2004 novel "These Foolish Things," might better be described as pure British stodge: high-starch English comfort food of more sentimental than nutritional value.

One is never too old to take a risk and experience something new. This movie is a real life story of people who dare to confront their destinies and tell it's not over. It is a story that changes lives and fulfills dreams. But more than just a lesson, it is life itself with all the good and bad things.

The movie throws together some great actors in a tired script, but it still is a well made engaging movie. It is funny and pleasurable and the location is really an extra delight.

I wouldn't say that The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a masterpiece but I surely can give it credit for its sweetness, **** and raunchiness. Gay relations and petty lovers in this veteran drama are mixed like a rancid salad but when the climax unfolds all the characters have a meaning of life. India's beautiful scenery is really good mixed but watching the climax makes you cry over its undeniably long runtime.

This movie wouldn't be as frustrating if not for the colossal waste of talent. A gathering of some of the best actors in the English speaking world are hamstrung by a script chock full of Anglo-Indian stereotypes and cliches. A disheartening missed opportunity.
