The Age of Disclosure

It feels fair to say that The Age of Disclosure makes a more serious argument for the idea that we’ve had close encounters with the third kind than any documentary that preceded it.

These people all look and sound so important that the message that blankets every moment of The Age of Disclosure is: They’re official. And what they have to say is official.

My problem with The Age of Disclosure isn’t the lack of opposing voices. It’s that there couldn’t be experts debunking anything here. Nothing is proven, and thus nothing can be refuted.

Dan Farah's directorial debut is the kind of movie that is bound to stir up conversation, especially if it ends up being bought up by a streaming service (this feels tailor-made for Netflix). Unfortunately, it's executed in the most bland way possible.

Question the film and you’re a chump, it implies. But anyone who sits through its nearly two hours of unprovable claims is a chump of a different sort.

An interesting and well-produced summary of the last 50 years of UFO mythology, but doesn't contain anything all that novel or revelatory. Some of the characters have slightly inauspicious biographies and I was disappointed the director did not delve into those to give the audience more of a critical look at the people telling these stories on their words alone.

Several largely low-ranking, ex government employees tell a variety of stories. I went into the film with high hopes, however, the stories told are essentially the same stories these same people have been telling for years on various podcasts and radio shows. The documentary adds a visual component but not of alien spacecraft, just of said government employees speaking. That said, the production values are very good.

A bunch of men sitting on chairs telling the same old UFOs stories we have been hearing for decades. It offers nothing new and no evidence of any kind.
