Janelle: The movie felt fake and the gore part didn’t feel real. It was good because the murderer was harder to figure out.

Although outlandish and slightly ridiculous, Thanksgiving’s humorous and blood soaked horror will keep viewers coming back for seconds.

Absolutlely terrible movie, my girlfriend fell asleep halfway through it. They need to un-release this, she only wanted to watch it because some tiktok person was in it.

thanksgiving is a gruesome graphic bloody gory movie with so many blood and gore just literally makes you wanna throw up and you don't know how much gore is going to be in the movie till you see like all of the kills and you are trying to find out who is the killer until later on in the movie you find out who the killer is and you're like what and you find out what cause the person to become the killer in the first place !

Some films don’t pretend to be anything else, and this is one of them. Black Friday (originally Thanksgiving) is a straightforward slasher: bloody, sarcastic, and completely unashamed. Eli Roth returns to his mischievous roots, and you can tell he's having fun — even when the plot wobbles or the characters feel like walking **** movie opens with a brilliant first scene: wild, over-the-top, and hilarious — a statement of intent that sets a high bar. From there, the pace is uneven, but it never becomes dull. There are inspired moments, creative kills, and a constant mockery of consumerism and the hollow traditions of American holidays.Patrick Dempsey is a pleasant surprise, playing a role that suits him perfectly — part charming, part threatening. The script isn’t subtle, but the mix of black humor, gore, and classic slasher nods works better than expected. It doesn’t aim to be deep or original, but it does aim to entertain — and it ****’s one of those films you’ll probably forget quickly, but while you’re watching, it absolutely delivers. Perfect for horror fans with a strong stomach and a taste for bloody fun.

This movie made up the missing horror with shock factors, primarily gore. The movie has a pretty good plot and follows the classic slasher with a festive twist.

Whatever these objections, I found myself warming to Thanksgiving in a way I suspect few others will. For one, it’s a feature-length take on an older comedy short that (somehow) justifies being expanded into this form; there’s enough within its seasonally specific iteration of the Scream formula that sustains its runtime, never struggling to expand beyond a 90-second teaser as other Grindhouse trailers did in their adaptations. The story is simple: a year after surviving a department-store massacre in Plymouth, Massachusetts (where the first Thanksgiving was observed, and near Roth’s hometown of Newton), a group of teens are targeted on social media for filming the atrocities, getting picked off one-by-one in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. It’s partially a murder mystery, though this never inspires intrigue, at least partially by design––when countless people have the same motivation to target these survivors when their loved ones died, does it really matter who is engineering their downfall?

Really disappointed that they ruined the trampoline scene from the GRINDHOUSE trailer, which was the best part of it. 🩸 Besides that, THANKSGIVING is probably the best American slasher since HATCHET II. I want Mr. Roth to make more slashers like this one because he clearly loves them as much as I do. Just crank up the sex and nudity next time. P.S. Good job eliminating the unnecessary (and cringe) homophobia (in Hostel, Cabin Fever, ... ) from your dialogues.

Was good I recomended but some performances are a little bad but out of that the movie is verry entretaiment nut not perfect. The story is good the blood and the suspense suspense is maintained. Very good movie.

Script ****, no linear logic connection between scenes. Total poop, most scenes makes no sense, killer uses teleport.

So far this movie is brutal and saddening because it showcases so much truth to consumerism and lack of giving a crap about anything but greedy and instant gratification no matter who is **** killer goes on a revenge spree for reasons that are clearly understood though tragic and disheartening as it really gives a glimpse into the heartlessness and cruelty of people and their lack of concern for humanity over merchandise.

Overrated? Yes, even for a slasher. The talented cast is given little to work with, the kills happen to few and far between, and the film runs a good 10-15 minutes too long.

Congrats to Eli Roth; he finally did it! He made a movie I LIKED! Thanksgiving isn't reinventing the wheel; it's got your classic slasher b-movie pulp and camp, along with a good share of borderline insane writing. But what it does right is take what worked from its inspirations and attempt to build its own twist on them; in this case, Scream and other classic whodunnit slashers. Where other similar attempts at replicating the success of these kind of movies fell flat, like "I Know What You Did Last Summer?", Thanksgiving falls back less on meta surprisingly and more on genuinely attempting to craft real suspense and mystery, with real red herrings and a considerable supporting cast that aren't just here to die. Also worth noting is the film's surprising creativity in regards to camera work and sound design; its intensely well-crafted in just about every regard, blowing other similar attempts at pulpy horror this year out of the water in comparison. For those just looking for good kills though, you'll be pleasantly satisfied; the ones on show here are brutal, bloody, and satisfying. Eli Roth has always been a gore hound so he clearly knows what he's doing on that front, and it's nice to see him putting it to use somewhere that doesn't include cannibals or a flesh eating virus. I won't pretend this movie is revolutionary on any level, but its a damn solid slasher flick.

Some legitimately disturbing gore makes it worth watching. Haven't finished the movie yet, kudos, I'm not squeamish, they did well here for me to appreciate the gore.

Fun throwback to 90's slasher knows that it's cheesy in its gorefest (it was based on a fake trailer, after all). Too bad that Roth's 'mean streak' sensibility was still prevalent, and sort of dulled the impact of this movie. Worth a watch though.

Thanksgiving has all the things you expect from a slasher film but it does it extremely well. Giving many suspicious characters to make it fun to guess who the murderer is. Over-the-top and gory kills that are entertaining to watch yet disgusting enough to make you look away. Many suspenseful and tense scenes to keep you on the edge of your seat. There is also a very crazy yet fun opening sequence that is one hell of a way to start the movie. It's not perfect though. The characters are all very bland and not remotely likeable, making it hard to care for any of them to survive. This includes the main character herself who just isn't that interesting. The 3rd act goes on for a bit too long and gets a bit silly too. Still, this is a great modern slasher film and I see potential in this being a new Scream-type franchise.

A generally well executed(no pun intended) slasher and solid addition to the holiday canon as well as the slasher genre. The kills are well staged, the dialogue is passable and the cast gives competent performances. Eli Roth does a good job behind the camera. For a movie as gory and brutal as this, it's not mean spirited. The Killer's motivation makes sense even though we're not given a lot of breadcrumbs leading up to their identity reveal. The opening scene is really well set up and has a good payoff. This movie doesn't have as many high points as Scream VI or Evil Dead Rise but it doesn't have the low points of those films either. It's also not really a polished horror movie like those mentioned and has somewhat **** feel. The movie loses some of its steam in the middle of the third act but doesn't drop the ball and though it doesn't end with a bang, it'll, leave you satisfied enough. I expected to completely cringe at Addison Rae but she ended up being fun to watch and passable in her role. The lead actress isn't super expressive but her lines are delivered naturally and her performance has somewhat of a warmth. The supporting characters in this movie are really well played. This movie doesn't try to make all their characters likable but they are generally believable and sometimes endearing. This movie wants to be a genre classic but I don't think its going to reach that status, not because it isn't well made but because it's just missing that secret ingredient that worse, sillier, campier movies have. Overall thanksgiving is a competent slasher that's consistently not bad, has some clever sequences and brutal kills.

Don't even bother, its not good. First 15 minutes are okay and then its all fast forward.

Apparently, I am saturated with these kinds of slasher movies. Maybe that is why it didn't impress me. The film has some cool, 80s-style murders, but the movie is nothing but another version of Scream.

Only good thing in this movie is it gore. and its not even amazing too for it being the best. There was a lot of visible fake gore that looked like cartoon. If you're new to slasher movies and this is your first, Please watch Halloween or Friday the 13th. Anyone that like slasher movies can understand this. Very predictable ending. Way below average acting. Halloween 2.0 story. Overall don't recommend

Embora as celebrações nos dois países tenham raízes históricas diferentes, ambas estão centradas na ideia de expressar gratidão pelas bênçãos recebidas durante o ano. Mas nas mãos do diretor de "O Albergue", as bênçãos são traduzidas em muito sangueao estilo slasher e muita ironia. Filmando o Thanksgiving à época da Black Friday, temos aqui um dos melhores prólogos do ano. A cena onde invadem uma loja enlouquecidamente é o puro suco da sandice coletiva. Fazendo uso de tipos e caricaturas, ao menos Eli Roth faz bom uso da direção em multidões e planos mais abertos, com destaque para a trilha e edição fantásticas. É de arrepiar. A partir daí, o filme decai drasticamente, mantendo aquele tom de suspense de um Pânico da vida, com típicos personagens jovens sendo perseguidos, com um assassino à solta. Infelizmente as atuações estão péssimas. Quando exigido do seu elenco expressões faciais de medo, tudo parece burocrático demais. E não é culpa do roteiro, pois a construção de personagens bobos tem muito a ver com homenagem aos tipos de filmes do gênero (o namorado da mocinha, a própria mocinha em si, os policiais, a amiga loira). É um filme de sátira, afinal. Ao menos o sangue com pegada slasher está excelente, para um público que gosta dessa pegada, com cortes de cena e gags inventivos e divertidos, será um deleite. O humor, ainda bem, está na medida certa, muito por conta que Eli Roth tem domínio completo da sua câmera. Poderia ser mais breve, no entanto, é um filme para se apreciar as cenas e se divertir como suspense e com o mistério envolvendo o assassino, definitivamente não é para todos os gostos, e nem todas as mortes estão tensas o suficiente. Mas ainda assim é um bom filme para passar o tempo.

Fantastic job on the gore in the movie and the killer is hard to catch. There is a 96 percent chance of you likening this movie if you like horror films.

Todos os clichês possíveis de filmes terror slasher estão aqui, e isso não é uma coisa ruim pois é muito bem executado. Tem toques de comédia bem colocados. Muito violento e bastante sangue. A condução entre vítimas e suspeitos dá leves pistas do assassino não deixando óbvio.

I enjoyed this movie. It started off phenomenal and I had tears of laughter running down my face, but it kind of petered out from there. A lot of missed opportunities and maybe 10-15 minutes longer than it needed to be. I’d recommend watching at home with friends and some drinks where you can talk and laugh about it.

In the 2007 movie Grindhouse, director Eli Roth created a fake trailer for this movie. All these years later, he's realized this full-length version. After a Black Friday riot causes fatalities in Plymouth, a killer sets out for revenge. Roth also led the "torture porn" trend, but he's softened his approach to balance horror with self-referencing humor. The plot offers nothing new and there are gaping holes in the logic. The kills (and that's all that really matters) have some creatively staged gore, but no real tension. The humor revolves around the genre meta references, so it's more about knowing nods than laughs or scares. Oh yes, Patrick Dempsey and Gina Gershon add some B-movie cred. Even so, the tongue-in-cheek humor and quick, gruesome murders will entertain on a surface level, but it's not destined to be a classic. NOTE: Stay thru the credits for one dumb final gag

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. The deaths were very creative And is very comedic. It's not meant to be taken serious, but if you enjoy a fun slasher film with good jump scares and extreme gore then this movie is for you.

Works well as a teen horror slasher, the whodunnit aspect is not great as you can feel the plot intentionally misleading you. Good kills, fun concept, I'm sure there will be more.

I wasn’t expecting much walking into this movie. I mean, how good can a movie about a Thanksgiving holiday slasher be? Well turns out it was very good! That’s because the movie itself is very self aware about how ridiculous it is. So you just get on the ride and enjoy and not take it too seriously. It’s gory fun! Expect no less from Eli Roth.

Pretty horrendous. I mean, so much wrong with it, I could write an essay on it. But to keep it short, and save any poor **** from getting drawn in by the decent score it has right now-- this movie is garbage. Characters ****, the characters don't have a brain, there's no logic, there's so much pointless **** in the movie, the whole theater was laughing at how stupid the movie was at some points, the villain made no sense, they had no coherent clues, honestly, i wouldnt be surprised if the directors had no **** clue who the murderer was when they were done filming, so they rolled a dice and went with whoever came up. i mean seriously garbage. And some more points, the effects were horrible, the only reason this is even considered horror is because they have a jumpscare every 10 minutes, and they had absurd kills. It's not a zero because there was some entertainment factor, from how stupid some of it was, and how the film was somewhat visually appealing. Long story short, it's garbage, don't waste your time, nor your cash, the 20 bucks I forked over for this is 20 dollars more than this movie should have made.

I liked it alot as a Eli Roth and slasher fan. If you like late 90s/early 2000s horror flicks than this is for you. Witty humor with some better than expected kills. LA elitism and post modern jargon that destroys most new films was only midly annoying and did not take away from the film.

Similarly to Terrifier, Thanksgiving seeks to numb you with its dose of gore to the extent that you're left with only two choices: either you love it, or it becomes so comically absurd that you find it laughable. In this case, there's no middle ground.Regrettably, the movie totally overlooks any trace of creativity and, most importantly, scares. It neglects any attempt to generate tense or involving sequences; it's exclusively fixated on brutality.From my perspective, this approach gets monotonous when there's no diversity in the mix, and Thanksgiving just keeps adding more bloody meat to the broth until the experience becomes saturating and you start to get sick of it.

Fantastic effects with creative deaths. Unfortunately, the writing is a mess, with the movie just suddenly ending unexpectedly. They also went the lazy horror route of making every character as caricatures that are so damn annoying or straight up evil so you don't care if they die. Probably much more enjoyable inebriated at home for bad movie night than seeing at the theater

It's much more FUN than I figured it would be - an absolute good time, but it was a touch gorier than I might have liked... Some of those Final Destination-style shock kills that I wish I had time to "avoid" (hand over face). Great group of actors... Cool to see Rick Hoffman get that role, and I loved seeing Gina Gershon back on the big screen.

Waste of time, another testament to how Hollywood are running out of ideas. If u want to save urself some time, rewatch “Grindhouse” there is a 5 min short that sums the whole movie up
