Star Trek: Section 31

As intended, "Section 31" is the Michelle Yeoh show, and she wears Georgiou like a spiky, vampy, blood-soaked glove at this point. Either you enjoy watching Yeoh strut and kick and smirk through action scenes, or you have no taste.

This superficially diverting tangent is too convoluted and tonally wobbly to leave a lasting impression.

No one can fault the cast for giving it what might be seen as a decent shot, but if Star Trek: Section 31 leaves you with one thing, it’s that the final frontier, which is future spinoffs, might be best left alone.

"Section 31,” bravely directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, is a dog’s dinner of head-snapping reversals and explanatory dialogue — a movie with little on its mind but mayhem.

Star Trek: Section 31 doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a serious exploration of the criminal underbelly, a camp throwback to the noughties, or a tonally off combination of the two? Whatever it is, it doesn't work half as well as it should.

The Michelle Yeoh fronted spin-off movie Section 31 is 100 minutes of generic schlock containing only trace elements of Star Trek.

This movie was an abomination to not only Star Trek but all of sci fi .. it’s a slap in the face of intelligent Star Trek passionate fans who only want exploration continuing our current timeline a new ship and a mix of old and new crews . With all that they can do they give us secrion31 from the most hated era of trek . Wee wil not bend over and take thishdhd

This is closer to the Kevlin Universe movies than the original series. The movie is has various characters from the Mirror Universe. And the major threat is the Terran Universe.

Star Trek crossed with a heist movie. It doesn't work, is very disappointing as a climax to the Empress Georgiou character and its a waste of Michelle Yeoh 's talent. First of all there's a lot of homework to do if you want to watch this film. You have to watch the first 4 seasons of Star Trek discovery. So that'll put a lot of people off. I do think this would have been better as a limited series. It would have given more time to flesh out the plot and make the audience actually care about the characters. The film feels completely rushed and wastes the potential of the terran empire as a threat to the federation. Also there's some good CGI in this film, some very noticeable poor CGI (the fight scenes on the moving cart) and a lot of set ideas that just have no place in Star Trek. For example her club at the beginning of the film, the rip off of the opera house from the 5th element just with more gen z aesthetics.

Think of everything you know and love about Star Trek. Then realise those things aren't in this.
