It’s not a great film by any means (I’m mixed-positive on Farrelly comedies, generally), but Ricky Stanicky does succeed in fashioning a fairly consistent number of gags that got a rise out of me even if the narrative, especially as it careens into the third act, feels like a one-note joke that’s getting stretched a little too far.

For the most part, Ricky Stanicky is an entertaining comedy with enough laughs to keep your attention, but ultimately, it tries too hard to pull at your heartstrings without enough authenticity to back it up.

I think people hating on this movie, went into it with the wrong mindset and a lot of assumptions. Sure, the young kid scene creating the opening concept for the whole movie has always been a bit corny, but an effective way to set the tone for a plot to be creative and have wiggle-room. To be honest, once I bought into the concept, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This movie has a lot of original comedic concepts that stick with you throughout the movie, the acting was impeccable, and the cast was great. This felt authentic, and original, coming from a comedian/podcaster/actor (Andrew Santino), an Actor/film star (Zack Effron), a wrestler that is humble in his acting and let's it reflect the humor of his past colliding with his current acting career (John Cena), and another comedian, "Wes ... Something" (once you watch the movie you'll get it). This is a good movie, and was totally worth the two hours. 5/5 stars and cheers to Ricky Stanicky "the best friend we've ever had!". (And that's how you were a review with no spoilers and keep it short and sweet!)

A very funny movie. This movie concept is very refreshing, it's been never done before, very creative. 10/10 super!

It takes a farcical premise and tries to find something meaningful to say about it. It doesn’t succeed, but the effort is worth analyzing.

In the wrestling ring, Cena used to wear a shirt which read “Rise Above Hate,” and indeed, he does so here. It would be better if he found a project where he didn’t have to.

You can almost hear the desperate screams of a far funnier, far more profound script in the shallowness of the 'Ricky Stanicky' we got, even if John Cena's efforts to drown them out aren't entirely fruitless.

Like too many of his movies of late, the idea here is to “See it for Cena,” as the film around him isn’t up to the big funny man’s big, scenery-devouring turn.

As a WWE superstar, Cena is a perfect casting choice for a larger-than-life character like the formerly imaginary Ricky. He rattles off jokes with the boundless energy of a man used to spending three nights a week catapulting himself across a ring, and he’s completely at ease as the absolute center of attention.

Great brocom, cheasey, funy, with great actors and overall humor and a few twists.

I thought it was quite decent. Maybe not the most amazing or as many laughs as some of the classics, but still good and interesting movie throughout.

Peter Farrelly returns to the zany style that made him and his brother Bobby famous (“Dumb Dumber,” There's Something About Mary”). Here, however, his irreverent flair is somewhat curbed by the moral lesson and the conciliator. Nice cast, conventional but enthralling script, fast-paced. A comedy about friendship and trust, not entirely successful, but fun and capable of entertaining with lightness, offering hilarious and bizarre moments and situations.

As a big fan of Andrew Santino and the Bad Friends podcast it hurts to say this movie was underwhelming. John Cena gives it his all, and in a lot of ways is the saving grace of the movie, but the timing and jokes feel incredibly awkward and the movie doesn't get much out of you other than an occasional chuckle.

This movie has cringy sexual jokes, has an identity crisis in terms of its location as the movie is set in Providence, Rhode Island, but is actually filmed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and also has bad acting as I cannot connect with the characters. This movie might be your cup of tea if you like the three things that I've mentioned above, but Ricky Stanicky ain't for me.
