Here is my review of the Resident Evil 2026 movie First, the story is about Brian, who is tasked with delivering a bag containing human organs to a specific location. He leaves the hospital to deliver the bag, but while driving, he hits a woman. He gets out of his car to check on her and notices traces of blood, but there is no body. He follows the trail into the forest and finds her lying on the ground, covered in blood. He takes her with him in his car and drives her to the hospital. That is the basic premise of the story. I do not want to go into any more details because I do not want to spoil the events for you. When a movie carries the title Resident Evil, I personally prefer to see an animated movie rather than one featuring live-action actors. Because of that, I was not particularly excited about this movie before its release. After watching it, I realized that my concerns were justified. Many scenes throughout the movie barely had any actual dialogue. Brian spends much of the movie swearing, without any meaningful dialogue or writing that really engages the viewer or draws them into the story. At times, it feels as though the writer did not really know what they wanted to say or where they wanted the story to go. Second, the way the characters—especially the humans—die is extremely strange and unrealistic. They often explode almost like blood-filled balloons simply from falling or being hit. They do not feel like actual human beings when they die. Third, the zombie designs were somewhat decent. They were not bad, but there was not much variety. Most of the movie was also extremely dark visually, which I found disappointing. You can make a great horror movie without making everything dark from beginning to end. On top of that, the movie feels like a mixture of horror and comedy, and in my opinion, that is one of the worst combinations it could have gone for. For example, there is a strange scene where a woman puts her hand on Brian's face while he is driving. I honestly have no idea what the purpose of that scene was. The chase sequences were good, though. The pacing, movement, and tension were handled quite well, and the sense of urgency was there. The movie also has a decent runtime, but some scenes feel like unnecessary filler with no real purpose. There are also moments where the characters simply swear or where the sound goes completely quiet without any meaningful reason. In my opinion, these choices brought the overall quality of the movie down considerably. I do not want to talk about any major or later scenes because I do not want to spoil the story for you. But honestly, if you asked me whether I would recommend watching this movie, I would have to answer very honestly: No. I believe that the Resident Evil name itself is what encouraged many people to watch this movie. The animated Resident Evil movies are much better, especially when they feature the original characters from the series and give the story a clear purpose, as we saw in Resident Evil: Death Island (2023). In conclusion, my rating for this movie is 3/10. It was genuinely disappointing, and I cannot recommend watching it. I hope we see more competent and higher-quality productions in the future, especially when they carry the Resident Evil name. We do not want to see movies like this—or shows like the one that was released on Netflix. In my opinion, neither represents what the Resident Evil series should be. So, as I mentioned above, my final rating is: 3/10

Pretty good movie, very funny and scary at times. People who are complaining about it not being an exact recreation or retelling of the original IP are lobotomized cry babies; the creator has been saying since the very beginning that is not what he was doing with this film. I love many of the RE games from old to new, but a large portion of the fan base for these games are insufferable adult babies who **** their diaper any time it isn't copy paste slop. I think the vast majority of the other RE movies are absolute trash in which I have no idea who they are trying to appeal to (except for maybe the first one), but at least this one tried something different and genuinely did it pretty well. If you are rating this movie poorly because it's not a live action retelling of one of the original games, maybe change your diaper and take a step outside. Real life has pretty good graphics too.

I was not aware of Zach Cregger's comedy background, and though I found Weapons to have humor, it felt more scary than funny. However, the horror here is more blatant but so is the comedy, it is right out front. I read that Cregger actually cut out some jokes, I'd love to see that version (or at least the outtakes as an extra). I enjoyed myself, and I'm not a big horror fan.

To start off, this is NOT ”Resident Evil” so if you are going into this movie as a fan of the lore from the games then you’ll be severely disappointed and left scratching your head. This movie is for the most part a basic but fun horror-comedy with names and items from the games placed around the movie and a few fun nods to “video game logic” that is truly fantastic but sadly, it never goes any deeper than that. I have also figured out why I’m often dissatisfied after the credits roll in the Zach Cregger films I’ve watched. His writing lack in the conclusion department, like halfway through the script he forgets what movie he was writing when he started. It feels disconnected and unserious which makes the whole movie feel like something you could watch in the background while doing something else and still be along for the ride. There are hints at deep character growth and some seriously good world building but it’s always gone before the blink of an eye. Same as how it ends, blink at the wrong time and you’ll open your eyes to the end credits and wonder what just happened. As all Cregger films, the introduction and setup of the premise is 10/10 with amazing and interesting atmosphere but it looses momentum after the halfway point and stumbles hard and Resident Evil doesn’t even finish the race.

As a horror fan, I feel lucky to be living in the era of Aster, Eggers and Cregger (I’m all for throwing Barker in there too). Cregger’s latest may not be as exhilarating as Weapons or as shocking as Barbarian, but a thrill ride nonetheless. I tuned out a bit when the video game energy went full blast, but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed **** jump scares and gore are on point, and Abrams was the perfect choice for the lead. Some wonderful cameos as well.

A disappointment. If you see it as a Game adaptation, forget it: there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that feels like Resident Evil, except for the words “Umbrella” and “Raccoon City,” which are mentioned **** you see it as a horror movie, you’ll be disappointed: it’s not scary at all, and it’s a movie that tries to be funny all the time. At best, it’s a fantasy comedy.Kids might enjoy **** the positive side: the creature designs are pretty cool.

A goofy, slapstick horror comedy which features 2 names from Resident Evil and a handful of blink-and-you'll-miss-it set dressing items and nothing else. It lacks any real narrative, any arc for the main character and it ends really abruptly. Needed another 10 minutes at least to make it feel like a complete story but even then it would still have nothing to do with the source material.

Easy 10. The dark humour in this movie is priceless. The lead actor. Wow. He did such a good job. Total departure from previous Resident Evil movies but so well executed. it does not follow games that we know it, but it gets Resident Evil very well.

I know the movie has nothing to do with the "Resident Evil" saga, but it feels unfair—and the film itself is genuinely bad—that they use the franchise's name. It is completely disrespectful to those who went to see it thinking it was related to the real Resident Evil. It is also unfair that it has more positive reviews than previous films; even if some of those were bad, they at least maintained some connection to the source material, especially the animated **** the plus side, the movie looks good; the art direction is solid, and it works quite well as a generic horror flick. However, it leaves me feeling empty, and it really bothers me that they simply slapped the "Resident Evil" title on **** short: Don't watch it if you're looking for an authentic Resident Evil experience or something connected to the saga (the closest thing is *Village*, but even that is unrelated); you're better off watching the older installments or the animated ones, which actually tie into the saga's canon.

As a fan of the franchise this movie has nothing to do with everything you know about resident evil. Don't expect any connection with the lore of the original story from the original movies or video games. It's basically a survival horror movie that could have been named "run for your life". A lot of unnecessary buffoonery and jokes that break the high tension atmosphere. Another big let down for me that in Argentina the audio distribution it's translated to Mexican-Spanish which is absolutely horrendous. It's a ok movie Don't expect anything special from it. Definitely a 5/10

Finally a Resident Evil movie that actually gets it. The atmosphere is perfect, tense and grimy, and it genuinely feels like playing the games. Best one they've made, no contest.

I think I bought into the hype that this would be the best film experience of the year. It was GREAT. But the best, it was not. I enjoyed the quirkiness and genuinely found it more funny than scary. Abrams was hilarious and the screenplay really made him shine. There were times where I felt like Cregger really tried to give homage to gaming though the film, which was really nice. Ultimately though, it didn't feel scary except the jump scare here and there. I guess I was hoping for more of that since the games can be truly creepy. Nonetheless, great film experience overall.

More parody than adaptation, all tension undercut with humor and buffoonery, but with some decent visuals and a Carpenter-esque score. This film really feels like Zach Cregger wanted to make a sequel to The Thing, was given Resident Evil, and sprinkled some surface level references. I won't spoil the subplot but it was handled much better in Exit 8.

Incluso as animações.

I watched Resident Evil (2026) last Saturday at AMC in IMAX, and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The movie barely feels connected to the Resident Evil franchise beyond the name and a few familiar elements. It never properly explains the virus, and its behavior is drastically different from the games without providing enough explanation for why. Adaptations can take creative liberties, but this felt more like a completely different movie wearing the Resident Evil name. The pacing is also a mess. The first hour is painfully slow, the movie is overly comedic throughout, and the ending feels rushed and abruptly cut off. The constant humor also undermines the horror atmosphere. The IMAX presentation looked good, but impressive visuals cannot compensate for weak storytelling, inconsistent franchise logic, uneven pacing, and an unsatisfying ending. As a Resident Evil fan, I left feeling frustrated rather than entertained.

It was a miss for me. Huge fan of the early games. Felt like it started well then fell off with goofy acting and silly monsters. Too campy. Didn't feel like the original game at all which was what I was hoping for.

The movie is good fun, even though it occasionally misses the mark a bit. Its a self-aware omage to Resident Evil with plenty of gore and quite some laughs. I mostly enjoyed my time with the movie, even though I thought it was a bit too goofy at times and some of the jokes were not helpful for the overall pacing. But I would definitively watch a sequel for this.

As a zombie movie enjoyer and a resident evil game player, this movie checked all the boxes. It was so nostalgic with its Easter eggs, the camera angles and the overall atmosphere of the movie. The main character was so fun and relatable. This has to be my new favorite zombie movie ever. It was the right amount of scary, lots of callbacks to the games, and it’s humor often lulls you into a good mood before jump scaring you back into the reality. I loved every minute of this, such a wild ride, and I cannot praise enough the balance of horror, humor, action, and video game-esque feel. 10/10 would watch again. Thank you for this creation!
