I think it is quite good even for that one scene that I think many people object to. I buy that scene anyway. It does not diminish the movie for me. I like the movie, I like the actor playing it, and I think the way it ended did not diminish despite that controversial scene.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps8

Enjoyed movie, loved the focus on family. Maybe the stakes are low, or they won too easily, but it's a first movie that is pretty good. AND oh joy oh joy, No origin story!!!!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail10

My sentimental favorite is Monty Python and the Meaning of Life, it's my first exposure to Monty Python. Then these films (including Life of Brian) and then lastly, the TV series. However, I have to acknowledge this is the best of the films. It just lacks my feeling of being the first movie to initiate me to MP.

Confess, Fletch10

Very funny. I dearly miss Flynn, but Roy Wood Jr. as Inspector Monroe is fabulous. The story has grown a little more complicated, luckily we caught it in streaming and we had to go back and forth a bit to clear up stuff. But I was laughing out loud. A lot of funny bits that are original to this movie and a LOT of callbacks to Chevy Chase's 1985 Fletch!

It's slow to build up, but then we get to really be familiar with the characters, and I like that. I like the jumping around in time. It's something different.
The movie does not seem to be built for drooling idiots with excessive hormones, so I enjoyed that too. I think the movie picks up around the time they visit Druig. Some of the people, like Druig and Sersi, are not sympathetic, but they do grow on you. It's better than uppity, elitist critics lead you to believe.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse10

I agree that this movie has a terrific story and the illustrations are top-notch. One of the controversial things about this movie is the frame rate, it's done at 12 fps instead of the usual 24. The filmmakers did that to make the graphics pop out. The emphasis was on the illustrations instead of the buttery feel of fluid animation, making this more comic-book like than any other animated movie (even superhero movie). This is called animating 'on twos'. The part where suddenly Miles is animated on 'ones', is easy to tell: His battle with Kingpin. Suddenly he's slick and experienced, he stopped being a gawky teenager. It's a glorious and subtle moment.

The Suicide Squad9
Aug 6, 2021
Fun, over the top, violent, imagine what Gunn could do if only Guardians of the Galaxy could be R rated. I hope Warner/DC will try this formula by picking talented crew and not second-guessing them, then the DCEU will have a better chance (and an alternative approach) against the MCU.
I am worried that the pandemic will make The Suicide Squad look like a lesser success than 2016's Suicide Squad. That first movie is NOT the way to make a movie. But money talks loudest in Hollywood. We'll have to wait and see. And maybe a simultaneous theatrical and streaming release is not the best approach. F9 seems to be doing great because Universal released theatrically in June 25, then on streaming on July 30, over a month later. By August, worldwide box office is $643 million. Finally, there's a factor Warner Bros. could not have predicted, the Delta variant will likely depress theatrical screenings. F9 and A Quiet Place 2 both didn't have to cope with the variant.

The movie is my go-to for romance. It is my favorite Valentine's Day movie. I swoon over their relationship. There are quarrels, there are moments they must separate, but she ultimately shows her devotion to him. He does not deserve her but likely he is not in the right mind (an understatement). Her love is the kind I aspire to achieve.

This is really horrible. I do not want to play this game. I'm glad i borrowed it before playing. Now I'm recommending that everyone save their money and don't bother buy it. Truly awful. It is boring, tawdry, and the story is so derivative. The acting is third-rate, amateurish. The effects look like they were drawn using crayon. A piece of godawful trash.

I enjoyed the movie. I like the earlier part where she's trying to find her way. Once she becomes super-powered, she has the same problem as Superman, there's no challenge anymore to her battles. I especially enjoyed the supporting roles, Danver's best friend Maria (Lynch), Fury, Talos, and Goose.

Wow. If Roman Polanski, Terry Gilliam, and Bertrand Tavernier had an orgy, this would be their bastard child (with no one aware of who contributed the sperm, and who gave an egg). Naturally, I loved it!

Hilarious dark comedy, and I guess this reflects my personality. I could really relate to Frank. And the ending would likely not be this pretty. I get that people find this movie reprehensible, but I like is over-the-top quality.

Violent, bloody, and funny beyond belief. I advise you to stay for the post-credit sequence. I don't like many of Deadpool's lifestyle choices (I hate Wham!), but I stand behind his right to love it.

When Marnie Was There9

Not as great as The Tale of the Princess Kaguya or The Wind Rises, but it is what it is, a wonderful and sweet tale of growing up. Vastly superior to the best many other studios (with ears) can offer.

Violence necessary and part of the joke. They toned it down by not showing too much blood (realistically it should be flowing like a river) and viscera. Cheeky humor. Nice contrast between social classes. Snappy directing.

Love the movie, very watchable for me. I think if you're not a fan, you'll enjoy yourself, it's action-packed, funny, full of quirky relationships. If you're a fan, it can go two ways. You reject this as a desecration of the original TV series or you'll embrace it as a jazzy improvisation of the original. I'm that third option. Funny enough, I don't mind the changes, and I love it that they keep winking at the old ones, without getting in the way of the story.
