I watched Resident Evil (2026) last Saturday at AMC in IMAX, and unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The movie barely feels connected to the Resident Evil franchise beyond the name and a few familiar elements. It never properly explains the virus, and its behavior is drastically different from the games without providing enough explanation for why. Adaptations can take creative liberties, but this felt more like a completely different movie wearing the Resident Evil name. The pacing is also a mess. The first hour is painfully slow, the movie is overly comedic throughout, and the ending feels rushed and abruptly cut off. The constant humor also undermines the horror atmosphere. The IMAX presentation looked good, but impressive visuals cannot compensate for weak storytelling, inconsistent franchise logic, uneven pacing, and an unsatisfying ending. As a Resident Evil fan, I left feeling frustrated rather than entertained.

This is pretty much the definition of a perfect movie. I can still recite a lot of the lines of the movie because I watched it for way too many times.

The movie is longer but somehow it felt rushed on every single character development. I kind of get why the animals have no emotions shown, but this made the movie very pale. And "Can you feel the love this afternoon" with Beyonce trying to show off her singing skill instead of trying to have a decent duet is just unforgivable. Please stop ruining these classics and come up with some original materials, Disney.

This is a stupid story that betrays the original text or the animation movie. Mulan is not a born jedi warrior. The movie is longer but somehow it felt rushed on every single character development.

not a perfect adaptation of the ballad of Mulan but a very solid one. It has its limits due to the language and cultural barriers but it is fun and visually stunning to watch.
