At it’s best, Newness is about how nothing’s really all that new.

Newness is a modern love story, where selfies and LTE play a role, but its sweet, wildly optimistic final minutes are something else entirely.

I really enjoyed this film! To watch the struggle young adults are facing when deciding between open and traditional relationships! The excitement of open relationships and what they may bring at the beginning is intriguing, but after a while many of these exciting detours lead to frustration and emptiness that cause most of these people to reassess what they really want from someone they love and what they want in someone who loves them back! Thought both of the actors did an excellent job at acting and making these characters believable, especially Laia Costa, a Spanish hotty!!

As a sympathetic look at two likeable lovers who don't know what's good for them, it's enough to give us a rooting interest — even if we're rooting for the two protagonists to accept the consequences of their mistakes and move on.

Newness attempts to be a prescient look at modern passion, but it ends up recycling the same old tired clichés that invade most sappy cinematic love stories.

What value there is to be found is in its cast. Hoult and Costa are charismatic, committed, and totally capable of making it feel as though their characters really can’t see what’s coming.

Surely there is a good movie to be made about caring polyamorous relationships, but as with any romantic story the audience needs to fall in love with the idea of these characters being in love.

Drake Doremus plays with the same idea of what he did in Equals but now he transfers it to a world that looks like a Tinder movie and thinks he's somehow revealing something interesting or remarkable about romantic relationships among millennials. But boy, he ain't doing it.
