Greetings from Lithuania. "Munich" (2005) is Steven Spielberg excellent and epic movie about events that took place after an infamous and bloody tragedy that happened at Munich Olympic games. I have seen many films about those events itself before, but never about what happened after, which is a very realistic tale of revenge. Directing by Steven Spielberg was excellent in here - "Munich" is a hardly forgettable movie that explores in depth events and people related to a plan to execute those responsible for the tragedy. It's a long film and it's pacing is a bit of a problem - it takes many detours from a main storyline but due to good script, great performances, terrific settings this film is worth rewatching even some 20 years after its release. Overall, "Munich" is an excellent Spielberg movie, his one of the more compelling ones about real events. It is relevant today probably even more then in 2005.

Of all Spielberg's films, this true-life drama is one of his most daring ventures; its greatest strength was that it did not take sides or show sympathy for anyone, and the nearly three hours did not feel exhausting.

Munich is one that has strong directing and terrific acting but what I will say is it does start slow but it really does get better and better.

An eye for an eye makes the world blind, Munich is a movie that showcases Israeli violence and revenge fantasies towards others who are both systematically and institutionally inferior. The storyline is a bit simplistic the characters are average at best and the scene compositions are very forgettable. The one standout performance would be Eric Bana with a nod to Ciaran Hinds. Spielberg is well past his prime at this point and I don't even know if he deserves to be called a good director considering how many flops he has. The movie glorifies violence it tries to gain your sympathies by painting “terrorists” as the ultimate evil meanwhile completely turning a blind eye to the fact that the Israeli regime has caused death on a genocidal level that cannot be overlooked or forgiven by those who seek to prevent holocausts and massacres and systematic destruction of cultures who are deemed inferior. This movie was one of the earlier types that gave rise to shows like Fauda, which glorifies some sort of fascist patriotism AKA Zionism which modern moral audiences should not take lightly. We did not get through European colonial rule and fascism only to give it a new face in the modern world. This movie is not about victims it's about victimizers and it's not even well done. Save your time and your money and go watch something else.

This is a bleak watch. Its dark both in terms of the thematic content and the low levels of lighting present. I was a bit frustrated that there weren't subtitles for all the foreign dialogue present, so I was unsure exactly what was going on at times, which I suppose adds to the sort of disorientation which was likely felt by those caught up in the various attacks depicted. Its tense and gripping at times - a bit slow to start and quite a long watch but its pretty well made/directed. There's a definite sense of ambiguity present in relation to moral issues at times, as should be expected, I suppose. The performances are certainly pretty solid. It has an eery feel to it throughout and especially towards the end, when some quite ethereal style music is played in the background - I reckon its the lack of colour and low light mixed with the sober themes and the music played gives it a chilling, very sober feel. Of course the subject is one that should never be taken lightly and I wouldn't say that it is, by any means. As I started my review by saying, I'll also end it with, its a bleak watch, however by no means is it a particularly bad one. I'd give it 4 out of 5.

There is something about Steven Spielberg when he make a serious movie, it didn't feel like it was his movie, from the atmosphere, tension, and the look of the movie, example: Schindler's List, The Color Purple, Always, Empire Of The Sun, Saving Private Ryan, etc, compare to a very Spielberg movie like ET, Hook, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, etc, and Munich is definitely one of those Spielberg movie that it's serious, dark, intense, yet it's brilliant, incredible, and amazing, Munich is a precious of time and a Remarkable movie.

Munich was a wasted opportunity. The plot was great but the way of execution was not great. The pacing was a big problem, there were so many unnecessary scenes. Acting was good, loved them all. The script was good, adaptation was also good. The only problem I think was with movie was it's running time and the pace. Overall, it's different experience and you should give it a try. But I shall tell you that you may not want to watch it more than once.

It's almost morally abhorrent how much heat this movie got back in 2005. Similar to Paul Haggis's 2007 drama "In The Valley Of Elah," I have a feeling time will be kind to Spielberg's "Munich," a movie I'd honestly lob into consideration as one of the director's most criminally underrated efforts. This is an unflinching, gripping and occasionally horrifying glimpse into the origins of an insight lost upon so many of the powers-that-be today. It's the kind of gray, unbridled nuance you don't really get from a lot of media today, and I found it refreshing in the most disturbing way. Just minutes into this movie, you're reacquainted with the tragedy of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, depicted in an appropriately horrific fashion by Spielberg and Co., who not only wish to use this event as a chance to rope the audience into the vengeance-fueled ride that's ahead of them, but as a chance to trap the audience as well. Once the morals and codes have been flung to the wayside and the characters you once thought of as honorable are covered in ethical muck, you realize it's too late. You, the audience member, wanted this to happen, you watched it happen and now — like the film's protagonist — you'll never be able to undo or unsee any of it. It's brilliant. Indeed, I find myself emotionally parched and philosophically despondent after watching this film, but the power and skill exhibited throughout is easily worth the watch and then some.

Spielberg is careful to show the Israeli perspective without glorifying it, but for all his proven capacity to gracefully handle uncomfortable topics, this one still feels overly sensational for such a delicate subject. Even one year before Craig made the jump from Mossad to MI6, this spy action thriller has too little emotional depth and too much of James Bond.

Incredible proof that an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, is madness. Good for Spielberg to brave both the Israeli and Arab opinions, let alone America's .

who can say when it falls.. Munich Another one of Speilberg's factual feature where the audience feels like encountering series of news and information delivered to them for more than 160 minutes with few high pitched dramatic and action sequences installed to hold the audience in this overlong journey. Steven Speilberg delivers without a doubt some good drama and dinner table conversations that speaks a lot about the character's bonding than the journey itself does. Eric Bana is convincingly good (especially the first time when he talks to his daughter on phone) and is supported with a great cast like Daniel Craig and Ciaran Hinds. Munich is an essential one but certainly isn't an entertaining one for the timeline and the subjective part of it overpowers the drama and the characters involved in it.

A very powerful film. It starts out like a pro-Israel spy/terrorist thriller but by the end becomes a LeCarre-like examination of the ambiguities and struggles of covert warfare.

A surprisingly compassionate look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the aftermath of the Munich massacre, Munich is an expertly crafted historical drama-thriller from Steven Spielberg. The film really provides moments of sheer thrills at times and is always endlessly watchable. However, similar to his later historical works, Munich suffers from being overlong, emotionally distant, and from occasionally poor pacing. Munich, in spite of its sheer entertainment value at times, can slow down to a drag and be a tough watch. When it is humming, it is a brilliant work, but when it slows down, it is merely a dull look at the situation. Fortunately, these moments are infrequent, but noticeable enough over the course of the nearly three hour film to detract from the overall product. That said, the film is well crafted with good acting from Eric Bana and, obviously, Spielberg knows what he is doing in the director's chair. Overall, Munich could be better, but as it stands, it is a good film.

Great Film, I like Spielberg for variety of subjects in his films, this one is his on of the best, nicely composed and edited film. In some scenes you think you watching A Quentin's film, action sequences are done nicely. Screenplay is most powerful part of this film! 8/10 to this film from me, a must watch.

The events surrounding the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany are terrifying real-life acts of terrorism--prime for a cinematic take. Unfortunately, Spielberg loses focus somewhere along the way.

Far more than just a "decent" movie, Steven Spielberg's examination of Israel's plot to avenge the death of 11 of their athletes caused by Palestinian terrorists in "Munich" is a truly fantastic thriller stuffed with relentless plans and explosions that would surely leave you breathless after full-time watch while, at the same time, successfully managing to leave space for humanity as the undercover agents begin to question the righteousness of what they are doing.

Munich is an arresting drama thriller about terrorism and the people who do it. The performances on offer here are excellent and the action suitably macabre. The film is a little too long but overall, Munich is excellent stuff.

The excellent cast excels throughout and the (true) story itself is without doubt an intriguing one, but the glacial pacing and overly long run-time often prevents Munich from having the impact it may otherwise have had.

It's a solid movie. Good acting, Action is fine, and it is a bit suspensful at times. However, It never really breaks into that next level of greatest. It's a good movie but not that good.

"Inspired by true events..." No kidding. Even if you know nothing about the historical facts in the movie, the slant is painfully obvious. The "good guys" are jovial, articulate and thoughtful - everyone "on the other side" talks heatedly and is armed. The tragedy of Munich and the subsequent events, did not need Steven Spielberg to turn it into this painfully biased tripe. If you didn't feel him "playing" you while watching (sappy clues throughout the movie), well that's where he earned the 1 that I give this movie.

Far too long imo. Really dragged on the film as long as they could and it would have been a little bit better if it were shorter. The acting was ok at first but it gets better when you get further into it. The action is good as well. idk though, The film just didnt sit well with me for some reason. It was a decent film that never really clicked with me. However the ending was excellent.

A decent watch, tracking the descent into madness an undercover agent goes through as he works for the benefit of his state. Bana's performance is excellent, as is the rest of the cast. It certainly went on for too long, which is strange considering there are explosions and murder. Compare it to the Insider which goes on just as long but remains very gripping solely through character interactions.
