This is Spielberg operating at his peak - an exceptionally made, provocative and vital film for our times.

Munich, Steven Spielberg's spectacularly gripping and unsettling new movie, is a grave and haunted film, yet its power lies in its willingness to be a work of brutal excitement.

There is something about Steven Spielberg when he make a serious movie, it didn't feel like it was his movie, from the atmosphere, tension, and the look of the movie, example: Schindler's List, The Color Purple, Always, Empire Of The Sun, Saving Private Ryan, etc, compare to a very Spielberg movie like ET, Hook, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, etc, and Munich is definitely one of those Spielberg movie that it's serious, dark, intense, yet it's brilliant, incredible, and amazing, Munich is a precious of time and a Remarkable movie.

Greetings from Lithuania. "Munich" (2005) is Steven Spielberg excellent and epic movie about events that took place after an infamous and bloody tragedy that happened at Munich Olympic games. I have seen many films about those events itself before, but never about what happened after, which is a very realistic tale of revenge. Directing by Steven Spielberg was excellent in here - "Munich" is a hardly forgettable movie that explores in depth events and people related to a plan to execute those responsible for the tragedy. It's a long film and it's pacing is a bit of a problem - it takes many detours from a main storyline but due to good script, great performances, terrific settings this film is worth rewatching even some 20 years after its release. Overall, "Munich" is an excellent Spielberg movie, his one of the more compelling ones about real events. It is relevant today probably even more then in 2005.

The director can work wonders within his celluloid universe, but when the time comes to hand us back to reality, he stumbles. With this movie, that hurts.

An unlovable movie. It's morally ambiguous, which means there's no real rooting interest. It's episodic, with the same kinds of episodes repeated over and over, so there's little sense of forward motion. It feels philosophically and politically confused, so there's no message to take from it.

Munich is a Spielberg film for better and worse, a vivid, sometimes simplistic thriller in which action speaks louder than ideas.

If he had told the story straight, without such hedging, and at half the length, it would have borne far more conviction.

It's too turgid and redundant to have any real impact. As a thriller, it barely thrills; as a lecture, it has nothing new to say.

It's almost morally abhorrent how much heat this movie got back in 2005. Similar to Paul Haggis's 2007 drama "In The Valley Of Elah," I have a feeling time will be kind to Spielberg's "Munich," a movie I'd honestly lob into consideration as one of the director's most criminally underrated efforts. This is an unflinching, gripping and occasionally horrifying glimpse into the origins of an insight lost upon so many of the powers-that-be today. It's the kind of gray, unbridled nuance you don't really get from a lot of media today, and I found it refreshing in the most disturbing way. Just minutes into this movie, you're reacquainted with the tragedy of the 1972 Munich Olympics massacre, depicted in an appropriately horrific fashion by Spielberg and Co., who not only wish to use this event as a chance to rope the audience into the vengeance-fueled ride that's ahead of them, but as a chance to trap the audience as well. Once the morals and codes have been flung to the wayside and the characters you once thought of as honorable are covered in ethical muck, you realize it's too late. You, the audience member, wanted this to happen, you watched it happen and now — like the film's protagonist — you'll never be able to undo or unsee any of it. It's brilliant. Indeed, I find myself emotionally parched and philosophically despondent after watching this film, but the power and skill exhibited throughout is easily worth the watch and then some.

Munich was a wasted opportunity. The plot was great but the way of execution was not great. The pacing was a big problem, there were so many unnecessary scenes. Acting was good, loved them all. The script was good, adaptation was also good. The only problem I think was with movie was it's running time and the pace. Overall, it's different experience and you should give it a try. But I shall tell you that you may not want to watch it more than once.

Has some great scenes and is well-acted but parts of the story don't really come together.

An eye for an eye makes the world blind, Munich is a movie that showcases Israeli violence and revenge fantasies towards others who are both systematically and institutionally inferior. The storyline is a bit simplistic the characters are average at best and the scene compositions are very forgettable. The one standout performance would be Eric Bana with a nod to Ciaran Hinds. Spielberg is well past his prime at this point and I don't even know if he deserves to be called a good director considering how many flops he has. The movie glorifies violence it tries to gain your sympathies by painting “terrorists” as the ultimate evil meanwhile completely turning a blind eye to the fact that the Israeli regime has caused death on a genocidal level that cannot be overlooked or forgiven by those who seek to prevent holocausts and massacres and systematic destruction of cultures who are deemed inferior. This movie was one of the earlier types that gave rise to shows like Fauda, which glorifies some sort of fascist patriotism AKA Zionism which modern moral audiences should not take lightly. We did not get through European colonial rule and fascism only to give it a new face in the modern world. This movie is not about victims it's about victimizers and it's not even well done. Save your time and your money and go watch something else.

"Inspired by true events..." No kidding. Even if you know nothing about the historical facts in the movie, the slant is painfully obvious. The "good guys" are jovial, articulate and thoughtful - everyone "on the other side" talks heatedly and is armed. The tragedy of Munich and the subsequent events, did not need Steven Spielberg to turn it into this painfully biased tripe. If you didn't feel him "playing" you while watching (sappy clues throughout the movie), well that's where he earned the 1 that I give this movie.
