Both Chastain and Farrell are resourceful, intelligent actors who can be riveting together moment to moment. But the disconcerting thing about Ullmann’s blandly handsome movie is that neither of these key characters comes fully into focus.

The writer-director never finds a coherent point of view (or a way out of Strindberg’s three-wall play structure), and Miss Julie ends up merely a whirlwind of moods without a center, as changeable and as random as a TV flipping channels.

Miss Julie is a movie focused on an era, is that kind of movie, it does not appeal to all kinds of public and this is especially for tastes more limited or able to see a movie of the type, especially if they do not like the theater .
The film is more a work of acting exhibition than anything else, its story is in the background especially because its actors are the ones who lead the baton and the story is less profound than it tries to be.
