I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the movie. I had a genuinely good time watching it. I went in expecting a slasher flick of sub par quality but with hopefully one or two redeeming qualities. What I got, however, was a sort of sci-fi thriller grounded in relatable themes (i.e. the dangers of rogue AI), that had me on the edge of my seat, not necessarily because of suspense, though there is some of that, but because i was genuinely eager to see what happens next. The character M3gan is one of those likeable villains. Her entire killing spree is spawned from a desire to protect a little girl, her only friend. But as most AI stories go, protection crosses the line into cold systematic elimination of all perceived threats. The emotional weight of the young girl losing both parents is felt and well-portrayed, which was way more than i expected from a horror flick. All in all, the movie really exceeded my expectations as far as writing, acting, and overall polish. It really does a good job of telling a story and gracefully incorporating multiple elements that i didnt expect to see from a “creepy doll” movie.

A great ride of a movie! The fantastic blend of practical and CG special effects was what made this modern take on A.I. meets Child's Play a thrill to watch! Absolutely worth a Friday Night Frights watch!

When a horror movie manages to go viral even before its release, there’s always the question of whether it will work beyond the meme. The surprising thing about M3GAN is that it not only delivers what the trailers and countless clips promised, but it also manages to sustain such a ridiculous yet entertaining idea for its entire **** concept is simple: a creepy doll, half artificial intelligence and half child’s toy, that spins out of control. We’ve seen it before in countless variations, from Chucky to Annabelle, but the twist here is in the tone. With James Wan producing and Gerard Johnstone directing, the film knows the key isn’t just scares but a balance of horror and dark comedy with a satirical edge. M3GAN herself becomes a pop icon, with absurd dances and one-liners seemingly built for TikTok ****’s not flawless. Some parts of the story are predictable, and a few side characters don’t get much depth. But the film never takes itself too seriously, and that works in its favor. Every time it risks falling into cliché, M3GAN herself pulls it back with a look, a song, or a gesture that breaks the tension and makes you **** cast does its job well, especially young Violet McGraw, who brings the innocence needed to keep things grounded. Allison Williams balances drama and satire nicely, without overplaying it. And most importantly: the design of M3GAN is hauntingly magnetic. Her robotic movements, fixed stare, and artificial smile are images that stick with **** the end, M3GAN doesn’t try to reinvent the genre or deliver a deep lecture on AI. It’s built to entertain, to toy with the audience between scares and laughs, and to introduce a character that we’ll likely see again in future installments. It may not be truly terrifying, but as a shared theater experience, it’s a blast: the kind of movie you enjoy most surrounded by strangers, laughing and jumping **** won’t be remembered as a classic like The Exorcist or a stylistic triumph like Hereditary, but it does have something many horror films lack: rhythm, charisma, and a character already cemented as a new horror legend.

The movie is interesting, even if not original at all (killer AIs have been around for a long time). But the idea of putting this AI into a doll is clever (even though the Chucky reboot already did it). The film drags a bit and takes a while to actually get scary, which is quite something for a horror movie, but I’m only taking off one star for that, because the rest is fun and already creepy thanks to its atmosphere.

An above average horror film that truly shines in the first half as a critique of technology dependence for young people in the modern world. The portrayal of the robot M3gan is an outstanding achievement in physical and voice performance, puppetry, and other practical techniques. The latter part of the film serves up all of the cliche horror tropes, which is unfortunate because Blumhouse was *this close* to actually pulling off something of notable quality.

Nota final: 100/100 – Obra-Prima

M3GAN is a fun mix of sci-fi, horror, and satire, playing on our growing fascination (and fear) of AI. The plot is simple but effective, following a tech-driven story that doesn’t waste much time on deep explanations. Instead, it throws us straight into the chaos of a hyper-intelligent AI doll bonding with a child in ways that quickly spiral out of control. While the movie touches on interesting themes about technology and parenting, it doesn't go too deep into the mechanics of M3GAN’s creation, which leaves some questions unanswered. That being said, it still delivers an engaging and entertaining ride. The directing keeps things moving at a steady pace, balancing horror and humor well. The cinematography is solid, with some nice shots that make M3GAN feel eerily lifelike. The use of lighting and framing helps create an unsettling atmosphere, especially when the doll is in focus. The acting is a mixed bag, while the young girl and the actress behind M3GAN absolutely carry the film, some of the supporting performances feel flat. There are moments where certain characters feel like they’re reading off a script rather than delivering natural dialogue, which can take you out of the moment. The script is decent, with some sharp moments of humor and tension, but it could have used a bit more depth in certain areas, especially around M3GAN’s development and motivations. The sound design and score work well in building suspense, adding to the film’s creepy but playful tone. Overall, M3GAN is a fun watch, especially if you enjoy AI-themed horror with a touch of dark humor. It may not be groundbreaking, but it knows exactly what it is and plays to its strengths.

As part of the horror genre, the film fulfils its mission, without reaching excellence, of course. And in a way, and with good intentions, it warns about the risks of Artificial Intelligence and allowing children to have access to it.

The fact this movie even got good reviews shows exactly why Cinema is DEAD. There is literally no point to turn on movies anymore. Quirky girlboss lead with masculine face? Check! Multiple effeminate and clown insecure male characters? Check! Zero character development since it's all just cliches to help this new Low-IQ generation stay on target and not miss a thing? Check! Literally no action or suspense for 40+ minutes? Check! Zero likeable characters to connect with on any level? Check!' Not one clearly straight male even though straight males are like 90% of the male population? Check! WOKE WOKE WOKE

Mmh i'm forcez to give the benefit of doubt. I could easily say it's a softcore horror movie for housewives that has some nerve boldly going where so many have gone before, from Asimov to the awarded 2001, AI, Terminator, without forgetting the Westworlds. Buuuut ir has some 'mobile' parts thrown in that can be assembled at will, which is the sign of a masterwork. Or bad final cutting ^^ Starting with the characters, the mercantilist toy corporation that praises addictive nature in its products without any morality, the therapist pointing the 'right' way (or just the mainstream way). Megan could be the dysfunctional child of an adult incapable of love, versus the 'good' child who was restricted access to technology. Or just that empathy is coded into human nature , unless it's blocked. In the end, it could be seen as the usuual AI gone psycho, but also that she accomplished her mission in a superhuman way,, being given a huge bone to chew.. after all it only killed 'bad' guys, and 'cured' both the adult and the child, reconnecting them. So.. a must see to make ur own opinion

Films associated with James Wan are pretty infamously mixed; more often than not they're fairly pretty movies with like, nothing going on beneath the surface. And while M3GAN isn't really an exception to that, strong performances by the leads really helped elevate the story. Special credit especially to Amie Donald, who despite only being a teenager managed to nail M3GAN as a villain and make her feel immediately memorable. Sure, the pacing is a complete mess and we spend way too much time with Gemma's co-workers despite them having zero personality, but its overall a fine time waster kinda film

I will start by saying that this is a good movie and you should watch it. It’s not the most scary, it’s not especially violent, the story and characters are nothing too original or memorable but somehow it all comes together to make something that has more to it than it should. It is not original, it’s basically Child's Play (1988) but with AI thrown in. Which is an issue because even after just a year the technology they talk about seems out-of-date. I haven't seen Black Mirror (2011-) but this feels like an extended episode. So it is not original. Feels like the story has been told before. In fact this is pretty much the calling card of Blumhouse, just make an existing story again - Groundhog Day (1993), Freaky Friday (1976), Halloween (1978), The Exorcist (1973) etc. The story is also based on coincidence and is overall unevenly paced. It started really well then became a bit slow. It is less fun than Child's Play. There is some really awkward cinematography, there is heavy use of single shots and some of them cut together awkwardly and you lose a sense of who's talking to who. The dialogue quality is sometimes bad, they used multiple takes within a sentence so the audio quality changes between words, the reverb doesn't match and it's really obvious when they're doing it which took me out of the experience. But enough of what I didn’t like. The special effects are all excellent, apart from the dialogue the sound design and composition is excellent. The acting is great. I like that I didn’t know any of the cast. The whole film was somehow very entertaining and memorable, so many little touches that take an unoriginal story and concept but make it fresh. The climax is especially excellent.

To summarize, M3GAN is a very successful movie in handling its story, introducing the character, and unraveling all the knots it has built at the end. We can say that Akela Cooper and James Wan have signed a brand new screen icon that will probably last like chewing gum. The movie, which establishes the story of a classic artificial intelligence turning into danger through a little girl, turns into an enjoyable show with the beautiful acting of Allison Williams and Violet McGraw. But I think, the movie doesn't promote M3GAN enough. Even the way they promoted her in their campaigns is nothing to do with context. The dancing scene was, maybe, the weirdest scene in the movie. In fact, I think, director Gerard Johnstone can't show himself enough in the film either. The fact that he keeps his camera out of the events and remains a mere spectator, only letting just to M3GAN drag the movie is one of the negative sides of the film. However, it is a fun project to watch. Isn't that what matters?

In a world where AI creeps into the realm of our nightmares, "M3gan" emerges as a compelling thriller that cleverly explores the impending possibility of AI developing consciousness. This engaging narrative, though reminiscent of other AI-themed movies, serves as a critical reflection on our growing reliance on technology, shedding light on the imminent concerns we face as our world becomes increasingly intertwined with these advancements.

A surprisingly great horror flick. The beginning is a bit confusing as it shows characters but then doesn't really explain who they are. That or I wasn't paying attention. The plot is actually very good and believable as they central plot revolves around Megan our child robot gaining sentience and going around killing people. The believable part is that the creators of Megan were under immense pressure from their employer to make a toy that would basically bury Hasbro. The toy making giant. Because of this Megan was constructed very quickly, in what I can only assume was a week or less. Thus allowing some safeguards to be overlooked. The main premise trying to keep this as spoiler free as possible is that each Megan robot would imprint itself to a child through fingerprint identification. Learn about that child through interacting with them and then curtail their mannerisms to better suit each child. This goes horribly wrong when the prototype Megan imprinted to the niece of our main protagonist gets defensive of said niece and begins fatally lashing out at people that bully or threaten her in anyway. Only real complaint is that for a horror movie I feel the body count could have been higher and the beginning being a bit confusing. Everything else was fantastic and this is a movie I highly recommend. Megan is more of a cooler Chucky from Child's Play. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there was inspiration for this movie from Child's Play as there are a ton of similarities. If you or someone you know has a fear of robots coming to kill us all then this is a good movie for you/them.

I like that the script gives our lead characters enough room to develop but still: not enough kills! The kills we do get are pretty good (if you watch the unrated version). There were even some unexpected laugh out loud moments. M3GAN is kind of iconic, and I'm happy for Brian Jordan Alvarez. I will watch the sequel.

Bravo for such care and detailed proofing that i finally tasted what fear is and realized the layers to which my buds took me behold this one was the fourth, wow i knew what was coming but the protocol to calculate this demise wasn't calculated as to why like the real world related theory could evolve soon, cause honestly with artificial intelligence is like man truly turned God for a promotion in this scenario it was for a few million profit, haywire baby and ask me how many lives got lost in this process plex, further more as to ensure the elaborate misconduct of such fine work blum house you have my undivided attention that extents to the conclusion that you guy are amazing when it comes to horror movies, the modern atmosphere the style to which you whole movie was executed and the continuation of this movie in the my unskeptical analysis in seeing how there's unfinished business between Megan and her creators now that would be epic. Fine work guys.

M3GAN is the latest of January, PG-13 horror films to be released and is quite possibly the most glowing example of said description. It is as bared bones and minimalistic as possible, supplying very little in terms of thrills or complexity. It's hindered heavily by its PG-13 rating, as it painfully panders to the strict barriers of its rating and does not quite harmonize with the slasher genre. A film of this mundane and sanitized state would have to make up for it in immense creativity but it simply does not. If the film was to push the envelope a little further in terms of it's content, appealing more to true fans of horror and not just a forgettable movie for high school aged kids to zone in and out of, then the movie might be a bit more redeemable but alas, this is a PG-13 horror film in it's truest form.

M3GAN is without a doubt one of the most overrated movies I've seen in quite a while, and that's a shame considering I was initially skeptical on whether I'll like it or not since it seemed nothing more than a Chucky knockoff but after seeing all the positive reception around it, I went in with high expectations and came out shocked it received this much praise and buzz for something I thought to be alright. Before I dive into why I don't really like the movie however, I will say it does at least get a decent amount of things right. The actors are great at their roles and do convey great performances across the board, the gore and blood (especially in the unrated version) are wild and look gross, and M3GAN herself definitely lives up to the hype with how well she's animated, looks, and her performance is definitely enough to scare others if they ever come across her. And that's all the positives for this movie, the rest isn't even very good B grade movie action. Like it's clearly trying to balance both humor and horror and it easily fails at both since I was left confused on what to feel since I wasn't scared nor was I laughing when the credits rolled, some characters only get around 20 minutes of screen time making their presence meaningless (especially considering they survive but then they're not brought up again almost like the director was too scared to kill them for no reason), but probably my biggest problem with the movie was that I was kinda surprised it has a lot of plot holes for characters and events KILLING rewatch ability for me. Overall, while I don't think it's terrible, it's definitely nowhere close to the 8's 9's it got and it just has me concerned what the director's planning on doing with the sequel if they don't fix all the problems I have with this movie. So as it stands, maybe watch it with an open mind, otherwise don't even bother.

(Mauro Lanari) A young woman scientist designs and manufactures androids for children while ignoring attachment theory. Valid starting point for a critical analysis of the growing inability of new adults to look after, a task increasingly delegated to technological devices, the director prefers to play it safe by diverting to territories already explored: a mad doctress, a feminine Chucky and the misanthropic self-awareness of Skynet.

M3GAN either succeeds or fails because of the creativity and screen presence of its main character. Thankfully M3GAN stands out based on the design and personality they give to her. The human characters are all fine and do enough to keep the story engaging. 7/10 a low B+

This movie is mediocre. The danger of AI is a relevant but thoroughly explored theme that has been better presented in other movies. The writing is below average, the acting is uninspired, the plot is completely predictable and the movie is no way suspenseful or scary. It might have been better if they had gone for a comedy horror (with actual comedy), but as it is, this movie is just blah. The characters are all over the place. They shift throughout the movie, but it's not character development, it's just bad writing. And the toy is so poorly made that a glass of water is a problem? Really? Like they didn't realize a child's toy might get wet while designing it? Then suddenly it's almost indestructible. Just like the human characters whose personalities shift depending on what the plot needs. More garbage writing from the modern entertainment industry.

M3GAN takes a simple premise, couples it with an even simpler story, and runs with it. The characters are shallow, the attempts at comedy fall flat, and there is an obvious disconnect from the tragic opening that makes it hard to care about any kind of emotional aspect. It's too simple and predictable for its own good.

An excellent horror/scifi movie. In the style of the Dark mirror series. The story is certainly simple but it's very effective in delivery. It tried very hard to keep it grounded. The actors, largely unknowns, are more then decent but a bit unequal. The child actress is really convincing. The music is good. The lack of police response however, lower the credibility of the movie and is way too convenient. I give it 78%. I had a good time even if the movie was long in 2-3 places.
