Some of the gags don't work, and yet I laughed at the Farrellys' audacity in trying them. And the humor isn't just gags and punch lines, but one accomplished comic performance after another.

Kingpin is no classic, but I've got to admit that after sitting though a number of the film's less-than-inspiring previews over the last few weeks, I wasn't exactly expecting the second coming of Laurel and Hardy.

Even 20 years later, this is still a fantastic comedy that manages to miss its mark with cringe comedy every so often, but that doesn't hinder anything about it.

"Kingpin" is a hilarious, laugh-out loud comedy with fantastic performances from Harrelson, Quaid, and a deliciously villainous Bill Murray. The film is filled with exceptionally amusing moments, and ranks among the best in the Farrelly Brothers' filmography.

Empire
As a barrel of easy, unsophisticated laughs, Kingpin delivers in spades.

TV Guide Magazine
This lowbrow romp doesn't even have the courage of its own infantile grossness.

ReelViews
The really disgusting thing about this movie isn't the crude jokes themselves, but how grossly unfunny they all are.

Washington Post
Without a doubt, mainstream moviegoers will be revolted by the nastiness of it all.

43/100 from critics? WOW! I wouldn't want to know anybody who doesn't think this film is funny. It's the greatest comedy of all time. The Farrelly's were on fire in the mid to late 90s and this was their best.

The second greatest bowling movie of all time! Only the dude has it beat, but not by much. The humor style is a little dated but this is still a very funny movie.

A movie that falls flat with a lot of the jokes, but makes up for it with some memorable characters.

Bill Murray movies are only funny to other overweight, ugly, and balding **** who think being an **** is “endearing”. I really hope Bill Murray fans all get those hair plugs they desperately need.

Generic, stupid, and aimless, Kingpin is the worst that comedy has to offer. Insipid, basic, and annoying, would be three other adjectives that come readily to mind for this one. I knew where it was going to wind up within five minutes, which is tragic because there was nearly another two hours left. Save yourself and do not watch Kingpin.
