It all works as a schlocky TV show. Mainly because the cast is on point, with a broad set of appealing characters generating their own stories well within the overarching silliness about the outside world.

The lead characters are well-cast across the board, with Chase and McDonough especially effective as complex, unpredictable characters whose sporadic conflicts go a long way toward developing a rooting interest in both men.

It’s hard not to feel a bit scammed, like you just bought a brand-new AAA game and found out most of its content is still locked behind an additional paywall.

Less a self-contained movie than a pilot for a show that already exists. The quality of the acting can only improve.

The acting isn’t awful and the production values are passable. McDonough makes a much better villain than anybody shoved into that sort of role here. This is an origin story that lacks anything in the way of a “hook” to whet the viewer ‘s appetite for a series. Even the “Christianity” angle is soft-peddled.

I really wish I could just enjoy a movie without them shoving their political/religious agenda down my throat. In this case, it's some sort of Christian evangelical message. What's the point of what I'm watching? There's no point in watching anything from the Q-Anon obsessed Angel Studios. Their right wing political agenda is their priority, entertainment is a distant second. Also, watch the trailer: they're also trying to turn you into a prepper nut by selling you a tiny home fortress lol
