Fackham Hall is one of those comedies that will either annoy you after ten minutes or completely win you over. It is a parody of films and shows built around English aristocracy, grand estates, murder mysteries, servants, family secrets and all that beautifully stiff British drama. Think Downton Abbey, some Knives Out energy, and a style of humor closer to The Naked Gun, with a bit of that deliberately stupid parody spirit. And honestly, I had a really good time with it. This is absolutely not a comedy for everyone. If you do not like absurd humor, wordplay, visual jokes happening in the background, silly misunderstandings, lowbrow gags and jokes hiding behind the main action, this will probably be exhausting. But if that kind of humor works for you, Fackham Hall gives you a lot to catch. ritish.What I liked most is that the movie understands timing. A lot of the humor is primitive or intentionally dumb, but it is often placed exactly where it needs to be. It has that old-school rhythm where the joke is not only in the dialogue, but also in the movement, the background, the pause, the reaction, or some stupid detail you almost missed. In that sense, it reminded me a little of the Benny Hill kind of momentum: fast, ridiculous, knowingly silly and very British. The wordplay works well, the situational absurdity lands more often than not, and the film clearly enjoys making fun of both English aristocracy and modern viewing trends: costume dramas, murder mysteries, elegant estates, class tension, servants, scandals, inheritance, secrets. It does not try to be moralistic or deep. It just points at all of it and laughs. The cast is good. I would not say anyone completely steals the film, but I also do not think that was the point. Everyone plays the material correctly, keeps the rhythm, delivers the gags and understands the tone. In this kind of parody, that is probably exactly what you need. Is Fackham Hall some brilliant comedy classic? No. Not really. Some jokes are dumb, some are very obvious, and some will probably make people roll their eyes. But the movie never pretends to be anything more than what it is: a silly, fast, very British parody of period dramas and murder mysteries. And sometimes that is enough. I had fun. I laughed. I would recommend it if you are in the mood for something light, stupid and knowingly ridiculous. 7/10.

An uproarious sendup of British period dramas (think Downton Abbey) overflowing with sight gags and one-liners, in a similar vein to the Naked Gun franchise.

It’s a parody of shows like Downton Abbey. I have not seen a single episode of that show, but then again, how many Airplane fans know a single thing about the Airport movie it’s apparently based on? The best parodies have something for non-fans as well, and this is one of those movies. I still had a great time with this. The Airplane comparison is actually pretty accurate, because this movie is a student of the Zucker Brothers school of comedy. It’s a constant string of silly humor. Sight gags and wordplay coming at you one after the other. And it does it pretty well. Maybe occasionally some jokes don’t land, but that doesn’t matter because there’s another one coming in just a few seconds. And I think a lot more jokes hit than missed. With this and the more well-known Naked Gun remake, this style of humor is coming back. Let’s hope it stays for a while. Scary Movie 6 is coming soon too. Let’s hope that helps bring the genre back. There isn’t really a whole lot more to say about this one, except that it’s really good at what it sets out to do. This might be the best parody movie that I've ever seen. The Bechdel test joke might be the single best joke I've ever heard from a 2020s movie.

Reminiscing of Leslie Nielsen movies like The Naked Gun and The Airplane. I am very pleased with this movie trying to resurrect this kind of humor which I find to be very underrated. I genuinely enjoyed this comedy despite the critics. I recommend watching this as a remembrance for the good classic comedy which modern movies seems to forget.

This is one of those movies whose best jokes are already on the trailer. Who would say Damian Lewis wouldn't know comedy? Other than him the cast is quite competent, the direction, however, is not. There are indeed some hilarious moments, and quite a few snoozy ones. Watch it at the movie theatre! The temptation to look at the mobile at some moments is too big.

I wish there had been a waDrning beforehand like they do for sex, strong sex, bad language and violence. It disgusted me.

With the world such as it is in 2025, we all of us need a reason to smile and enjoy the occasional joke here and there. Fackham hall provides this relief in spades. I must say one is rather impressed by ones dialogue choices and casting. The refreshingly serious dedication to "playing the humour straight" really is quite charming. The production quality is charmingly high I must say. I shall now pop the kettle on and enjoy a celebratory crumpet.

This film is best described as Downton Abbey crossed over with the humour of the Naked Gun. It makes fun of several subjects including the old school British aristocracy, 40's detective films/shows and 40's romance films. There’s a ton of jokes in this film. Not all of them land but that’s probably an indication that they’re trying to hit many different people’s types of humours. This is one of those films where you should pause and take a detailed look at every scene, as I noticed many jokes woven into the sets. The prison scene for example had references to funny crimes written on all of the prison cells, but if you weren’t paying attention, then you’d have missed it! It's also a surprisingly good film to watch before Christmas. It’s not perfect though, I did notice some out of place DEI “lords and ladies” British aristocracy extra’s who wouldn’t have existed back in the 30’s when this film was set. It’s not a major blemish on the film but it was noticeable.

I feel bad for people who don't have a sense of humor (especially some of these professional film critics who just don't get it). This movie was filled with so many kinds of jokes, puns, visual gags, and stellar performances. Our audience was laughing the whole time, and while not every single joke will land, the majority were hilarious. This film deserves to he mentioned in the same breath as other classic comedies like Airplane, The Naked Gun, or Shaun of the Dead. Definitely worth seeing for yourself.

loved the movie i was laughing the entire movie so i don't know how idiots could not like this movie unless they don't like comedies... i see it as a parody of downton abbey and I walked out of that movie it was so god dam boring

This movie didn’t know what it wanted to be and therefore, didn’t have much direction. There were some funny moments but most of the gags missed their mark. It’s too bad because I really wanted to like this movie and it had a great cast. But at some point the stupidity of it all overwhelmed the story and the acting. it was an okay matinee and if you really want to see it, do it on a discount Tuesday.
