The acting, writing, and direction were brilliant. Everyone in the theater was laughing the entire time. It's not a pure comedy, it's a dark comedy/drama, so don't go in expecting lightness and broad laughs. The comedy comes from the situation and characters' neuroses and discomfort. The fact that people left some theaters as mentioned in other reviews has more to do with them being unhappy in their own relationships and seeing this reflected accurately back to them, than the quality of the actual film. If you're in an unhealthy relationship and felt bad watching the movie, then the movie did its job. Seek counseling. Emotionally intelligent, media literate folks will love this one.

I feel bad for people who don't have a sense of humor (especially some of these professional film critics who just don't get it). This movie was filled with so many kinds of jokes, puns, visual gags, and stellar performances. Our audience was laughing the whole time, and while not every single joke will land, the majority were hilarious. This film deserves to he mentioned in the same breath as other classic comedies like Airplane, The Naked Gun, or Shaun of the Dead. Definitely worth seeing for yourself.

Best movie in the franchise by far! Very well-directed with a wicked sense of humor both in dialogue, and the over-the-top deaths. Leaning more towards horror/comedy worked so well, and the movie had a perfect sense of self-awareness. Focusing on a family rather than a random group of teens made the story feel more personal, and the characters are deeper in this film with actual relationships.

First act was really strong -- eerie, mysterious, well-shot, suspenseful. It went off the rails towards the end of Act II, and Act III felt phoned in. Not sure why this is getting such great critical reviews. It has a swiss cheese amount of plot holes and feels like the ending was rushed to satisfy some sort of deadline. Nick Cage is comically unhinged, like over the top to the point of people laughing in the theater, rather than being actually scared.

This movie was hilarious and fun. Keep in mind many of these review bombers are homophobes who can't accept that Marvel/Disney includes characters that resemble how the world actually looks in 2022. Yes, there were plenty of jokes throughout and the movie doesn't take itself too seriously--which is a good thing. There are a lot of self-aware moments, and if you're a fan of Taika Waititi, his humor shines here all throughout.
