While it's the characters that make the movie memorable, it's their actions that make the movie a classic. Filled to the brim with eye-popping stunt and action sequences, the movie is a thrill a minute romp that rarely lets up.

Average example of MadMaxploitation.

A tongue-in-cheek sci-fi action pic which owes a considerable debt to the Mad Max movies, Cherry 2000's greatest asset is topbilled Melanie Griffith, who lifts the material whenever she's on screen.
50
Once Griffith and Andrews enter the lawless zone attempts at quirky humor fall flat and the film settles into a fairly conventional action yarn

Plus marks for the presence of the old-timers, but overall it's a walk on the mild side.

If you have a soft spot for B movies and a bit of cheesiness this is an entertaining movie. Be warned if you don't like this or it is not in the “So bad it is good” category for you this will be a mayor disappointment. Others rated this as garbage and it appears in some of the worst movies of all time lists. While I can see others dislike this with passion it is nowhere near real catastrophes like Highlander – The Source which is even worse than Highlander 2 or Avatar The last Airbender. It was set in the back then future of 2017 (Made 1988). The USA have been fractured and are a post apocalyptic wasteland but there were a few areas that were not affected and life is seemingly normal there. Technology has advanced a bit as humanlike androids exist. Also an aversion against sex has been developed by society (I cant remember if a disease was involved or if reasons were explained). In one of the normal areas the businessman Sam Treadwell lives happily with his fully functional android Cherry (Yes fully functional means what you think aka sex). For him she is his dream wife. However one day she has a water-damage that fries her circuits when they want to have sex on the really wet floor. When he wants to repair her he is informed that while her memories / personality is saved her line aka model is not produced anymore and not available. However there could be some remaining in an abandoned warehouse far out in the wastelands. Sam hired the female bounty hunter Edith Johnson for help. This is the set up and already you can see the cheesiness. It is an entertaining movie not the Godfather or Shakespearean work. It you expected a deep story or remarkable brilliance that you should ask yourself why chose a movie called Cherry 2000. For me it is funny, cheesy and entertaining. Maybe a guilty pleasure or in the so bad it is good realm. The actors are fine for me and deliver. The main cast with Pamela Gidley as Cherry 2000, David Andrews as Sam Treadwell and Melanie Griffith as Edith Johnson work well and made this entertaining. To be fair I don't remember much about the side characters except that I was satisfied. The sets and costumes look O.K. for the budget that cant compete with bigger movies. Overall the enjoyment depends like I said if you like B movies and cheesiness. I enjoyed it but must say forgot this movie existed to be fair.
