The PSP version of WRC has a different developer than the PS2-version - and it shows. New developer Traveller’s Tales has done good work in the past, but based on this the team lacks experience in the rally game genre. The cars sound lame, it’s hard to drive the Special Stages as it’s very unclear where you should be driving. Most of the time your car feels like it’s floating above the road. [Sept 2005, p 58]
WRC for the PSP is a disappointing title, it feels scaled down for the PSP and only features one main single player mode, there has been no thought put into the multiplayer mode and the song selection is poor, if you simply must own a rally title then Colin McRae Rally 2005 is a better title.

The real meat and potatoes of the game lies in the championship mode. Hardcore fans of the sport will be delighted to know that it is an exact reproduction of the real life version.

Great rally game that gets around the potential dullness of being alone on the track by adding ghosts of your competitors to give you something to race against. It actually works so well I'm amazed it hasn't been used more often in rallying games. One of my favourite racers on the PSP.

Very good rally simulator. Best on PlayStation Portable. Many locations and cars, good (For 2006) graphics and physic. Better then Colin McRae Rally 2005.

Gaming Target
Designed with both replayability and pick up & play in mind, WRC is both lengthy and challenging, but simple enough to play for 10 minutes a day on the train to work, between classes at college, or any other scenario where time is needing some killing.

Sadly, its multiplayer support is almost nonexistent, and a few gameplay quirks conspire to make the driving less fun than it could have been. Still, WRC is a good, solid first try at bringing the sport of rally racing to the PSP system, even if it doesn't quite nail every component.

There's nothing to really love, but nothing to really hate either. [Apr 2006, p.78]

Rallying is tight and awkward on the PSP's small screen, and though WRC has plenty going for it, it's just not as much fun as other PSP racing games. [Nov 2006, p.155]
