FH6 nudges the accelerator again with a fresh location and a handful of inessential additions such as homes to decorate. But the diminishing returns on show here suggest Playground will need to dig deeper into the engine to find a higher gear next time.
Forza Horizon 6 cannot be called a bad game. PlayGround Games has found the perfect formula for a service game, one that consistently attracts millions of racing fans with sheer numbers, offering them a comfortable experience with plenty of engaging activities. For the sake of this, they've had to sacrifice even the slightest hint of boldness. Still, the aging foundation is beginning to sag.

When Forza Horizon 6 manages to get out of its own way, its magic is that it was two compelling fantasies to draw on. Being a world-class race driver is a pleasure we can get elsewhere - although this makes it accessible to those who might fear Gran Turismo's sterner sim - but it can also satisfy the humbler dream of being on holiday in a fun new place. Whether Playground has captured the authentic Japanese experience, we can't say, but it's certainly got that last bit nailed. [Issue#425, p.102]

This game is overall good, but still contains the cloud save errors that have been a known issue in the series since Forza Horizon 4. A lockout bug still existing through three consecutive titles is unbelievable. The game would be a 9 without this infuriating bug.

I am Japanese. I love this game, which is full of respect for Japan. There is a strange joy in driving on familiar Tokyo highways and country roads.

Playground Games has proven once again that they are not only the kings of the racing genre, but that the core formula of the Forza Horizon series is so strong that they barely need to reinvent it. Forza Horizon 6 is the complete racing package, delivering everything fans could want and more. It's hard to imagine how Playground Games can improve on this formula going forward, but if their track record is anything to go by, they'll find a way.

Forza Horizon 6's Banksy-level vistas of Japan are breathtaking, and the improvements to the progression system have placed the title at the pinnacle of the racing genre once again.

An exceptional, breathtaking world that players will be kept busy in for years, Forza Horizon 6 is one of 2026's best games of the year and one of the best racing games ever created.

Forza Horizon 6 takes the racing series to Japan, delivering a massive, densely packed open world that feels far more natural and varied than its predecessor. A more engaging progression system and a stunning recreation of Japan makes this the best game in the series yet.

Forza Horizon 6 delivers what is easily the series' most complete experience to date. The Japanese map is amazing; a joy to explore - and the location's visuals are off the charts too, across the board. Whilst I'd have liked to see a bit more in terms of new races and event types, particularly in the Tokyo region, there's still so much fun to be had here that it's more of a nitpick than anything else. Forza Horizon fans are going to have so much fun with this sixth iteration, and that's not to mention how much the game will change and evolve over time as Playground Games keeps adding to it. Horizon Japan is officially here, and I feel like I'm going to be playing this game for years to come.

There’s no doubt that Forza Horizon 6 is one of the strongest and most polished entries in the series. Japan gives the game a fresh visual identity, the mountain roads are incredible to drive on, exploration remains addictive, and the driving still feels unmatched in the arcade racing genre. But at the same time, you can also feel that Playground Games is starting to play things a little too safe. The biggest disappointment is probably its version of Japan, especially Tokyo, which feels a bit too clean and restrained. After years of fans dreaming about a Forza Horizon set in Japan, many expected something more vibrant, crazier, and more immersive culturally. Instead, the world sometimes feels slightly too westernized to deliver the total change of scenery people hoped for.Still, it would be unfair to focus only on that. Forza Horizon 6 remains an incredibly fun open-world racer. The driving is exhilarating, the progression feels more structured, and the map constantly makes you want to get in a car and drive with no destination in mind. It may not be the revolution some expected, but it’s still an excellent Forza Horizon and easily one of the most accomplished games in the franchise.

Horizon 6 disappointed me. Me, who has played all six instalments in the series. I feel some of the progress Horizon 5 introduced is missing; I don't think Playground are willing enough to experiment with everything from progression to UI design; and I don't think Japan comes across well as a setting here. But conversely, this, along with the last handful of Horizon games, is one of the best arcade racers you can find, based on everything this game predictably executes so masterfully. I therefore take the liberty of recommending Horizon 6 solely on the basis that it works as well as it does, although I must once again recommend that Playground Games really take their time to be more ambitious in the future.

The game is very disappointing, compared to the 2nd part of the game, there are too many simplifications added to the game that even a 5 year old child could play. The search for cars is so simplified that you can find them in 30s without effort, it's not even interesting to play like that. The speed zones are illogically placed, the same with the drift zones, since when is drifting on dirt.. Not to mention how much the game freezes when doing different things. Cars appear out of thin air, change lanes while driving for no particular reason, which often makes it very difficult to reach the required speed. The cars have very little choice in tuning, knowing that the game takes place in Japan I expected much more. The game is very beautiful, but it has many disadvantages compared to the previous parts

I’m honestly disappointed with the car list in Forza Horizon 6. At this point, it feels like the developers are just recycling the same vehicles from previous games instead of bringing in fresh and modern models that people actually want to drive. How are we still missing cars like the updated Mercedes G-Wagon or the Range Rover Sport, yet we keep getting the 2013 and 2015 version of these cars we’ve already used for years? Why not give us more variety with modern SUV performance models and off-road trims? Cars like the Hyundai Palisade, Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, BMW XM, Mercedes GLE 63 Coupe, Toyota Hilux GR, or Lexus RX 350 F Sport would make the game feel far more current and **** lack of certain sedans is also crazy to me. No Toyota Crown Athlete? No Toyota Mark X? No Toyota Century (1st gen or 2nd) These are iconic cars in car culture and would fit perfectly in **** the biggest missed opportunity is the complete lack of modern Chinese cars. The automotive world has changed a lot, and Chinese manufacturers are now producing genuinely exciting vehicles. Why can’t we drive cars like the Xiaomi SU7, Zeekr 8X, BYD Leopard 8, or the Changan Hunter? Ignoring this entire side of the industry makes the game feel outdated.I know more cars will probably be added later, but many of the vehicles I mentioned were already released before the game even launched. That’s why this feels less like a limitation and more like laziness. For a game that’s supposed to celebrate car culture and automotive evolution, the car list just doesn’t feel ambitious enough anymore.
