Turbo Kid is a fun metroidvania game and a welcome continuation of the cult film. It ticks all the right boxes of metroidvania design and incorporates the bike in a clever way. Alas, the behaviour of the enemies are extremely derivative and its pixel art is not the best we've seen.

Turbo Kid blends nostalgia with fresh mechanics in this outstanding metroidvania, offering a post-apocalyptic world filled with engaging challenges and memorable characters. Its synthwave soundtrack and diverse gameplay, including bike riding and intense combat, make it a standout experience. However, its old-school save system may frustrate some players, but overall, Turbo Kid delivers a compelling adventure that captures the essence of the cult film it's based on.

It’s super fun, relaxing, at times stressful but at the end of the day super entertaining and rewarding. I give it a 9/10. The only real issue was that the game was so good that the story couldn’t keep me compelled enough to pay attention. But it barely caused any problems to my overall enjoyment!

Turbo Kid is a Metroidvania where you can summon a bike at the push of a button, and that is absolutely as cool as it sounds.

Turbo Kid is a fantastic metroidvania that gives the player a lot of freedom and choice. It presents a lot of great ideas, references and moments, and it has a lot of replay value that makes the experience totally worth it.

Turbo Kid could have played dirty and stuffed in an endless barrage of citations for their own sake without caring too much about the content, sure to win over a large audience of nostalgic gamers anyway. Instead, it has been created with a genuine love for the metroidvania genre, adding to the typical skills such as jumping, crouching and climbing, also a large set of stunts typical of the BMX world, with a level design that takes full advantage of them. The result is interesting and successfully distracts from a look that has been seen many times before and from a main quest that adds nothing new.

I give this a 9.5/10. Everything about is totally brilliant and individual, If there were a couple more bosses it would be a perfect game. I would say that the initial load time is a bit long, but then it uses an old/school manual save point mechanic which is instant, where turbo Kid sits on a sofa and reads a comic because apparently that makes sense. Maybe that’s the movie reference, I don’t know as I haven’t seen the film. Weird. Actually I give it a bit more for being weird so it’s a 9.75 from me. If you like metroids, get it now. If you like retro games, get it yesterday. Oh, and you get a bike that you can use and not use as you wish and can even do bike races. That’s beyond fun and cool. It’s a complete original and it’s weird.

Based on the Turbo Kid Movie which was an apocalyptic themed movie in the vein of Mad Max with a distinct and fully intentional quirky retro feel. It got a lot of love and attention from B-movie fans. The game is brilliant and carries over the fantastic retro vibes: the art and soundtrack is incredible! The gameplay is sublime. The controls take a little getting used to but once you do the game becomes incredibly fluid, smooth and enjoyable. You can summon a bike at the push of a button and navigating the game world with it is an absolute pleasure. If you are a fan of metroidvania games or Turbo Kid this game perfectly captures the world of Turbo Kid whilst also being a really great metroidvania. The retro feel is just the icing on the cake if like me you are in to that. Highly recommended. The developer Outerminds who also created PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist have a lot of potential.

SummaryA BMX-powered pixel-art Metroidvania gore-fest based on the film Turbo Kid. You play as a lone warrior on a quest to cross a Wasteland riddled with scoundrels and creeps who you'll have to go through - literally - in order to survive. Run, crawl, jump, hang, and, for the very first time in a Metroidvania (don't research this), bik... Read More
