It's a nice Zelda game, the gameplay is fun and the plot is cool, the usual. But I would say one of my biggest problems is how slow it can be at times, there are some pacing issues.

Aside from the motion controls, this game doesn't really deserve the hate it got for its controls; it's a great purchase option for Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch

If you can't handle the motion controls, it's a "you" problem. Your hand-eye-coordination needs some work. Git gud.

A fun game but not so fun or interesting of a story to keep me playing the whole game. The dungeons in this game might be among the best in the series but the linearity of the story and the antiquated systems of traversing the map made me give up.

The single, most inexorable annoyance of Skyward Sword is its over-reliance on motion controls. It may have been innovating at first, but when it’s constantly demanding the player to swing around his Wii remote in 12 different directions each time for the most basic tasks that could’ve easily been streamlined or substituted by analog controls, it no longer remains a novel concept, but rather a serious inconvenience, never mind the fact that it made every mini-game way more tedious than it should’ve been. Everything else about it is enjoyable to a fault. In typical Zelda fashion, it’s packed with creative ideas, interesting set pieces, and amazing puzzles. It’s a game with which you may have a bone or two to pick (fighting The Imprisoned three separate times), but when the credits finally roll, you can’t help but appreciate it for its goodness.

An amazing game, and by far the best story in the franchise with a very unique world. This game originally was my favorite probably purely based on nostalgia but since playing it several times again I’ve noticed the repetitiveness and clunky gameplay so many complain about but by no means has it affected how I feel about it. If you want a good soundtrack this is by far one of the best soundtracks as well. Overall such a beautiful game and story and it’s a must play

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (9.4/10) delivers an ambitious origin story for Hyrule with innovative motion-based combat and soaring sky exploration. Its dungeons are creative, puzzles engaging, and narrative heartfelt. While some mechanics feel polarizing, the art style, music, and story depth shine. A bold, memorable Zelda adventure that rewards patience and curiosity, adding a unique chapter to the franchise’s rich history.

Bruh its a great ass game and I feel like it has one of the best combats in zelda game i played the hd version so it wasn't as bad the story in this so peak and the dungeons are only behind to ocarina of time I just hate how there is almost nothing to do in the sky islands but this game is so long with so much to do I think its forgivable

The story is incredible and very engaging. The dungeon missions are interesting and well designed. The soundtrack is impeccable and one of the best parts of the game. Some missions in the forest are repetitive and boring, but not all of them. The desert missions are good and fun overall. The volcano area, however, is not very enjoyable. That mission where you have to collect items in the Spirit World is horrible and extremely time-consuming. On the positive side, the sky missions are fun, and the puzzles in the sky and in the forest are well made and satisfying to solve. If I had a Nintendo Switch, I would definitely play this game again without hesitation.

I honestly cannot understand how people can praise this game. I had to force myself to finish it, because I wanted to play through the entire zelda series, and this was BY FAR the worst experience of the entire journey. A long and repetitive grind, with no reward at the end of it. You have to revisit the same three maps over and over and it got boring so quickly that it felt like a job. At some point I set up a timer of an hour, after which I would close the game and dread the idea of having to repeat the process again the day after. The fighting, although responsive, feels uncoordinated; you can try to swing properly the sword, but after a few hours you will either skip every enemy or just swing your arm at random, because enemy take multiple hits to defeat and some of them can block. The items, aside from very few, feel useless 90% of the time. The trials are so boring and repetitive you will wish to have a skip button. The main antagonist is a joke. Truly a joke, a huge let down. The only redeeming qualities of this game are: Ghirahim. Koloktos's fight. Scaldera's fight.

Skyward Sword is Magical. This game makes me incredibly happy. One of the greatest soundtracks in video game history, a gorgeous art style, and the best narrative the series has to offer.

Skyward Sword Stands as the one of the best games of all time, the dungeons, the theming the music, everything just goes together so well and blends to be an amazing game, the dungeons are awesome, and the music is arguably some of the best video game music of all time. Skyward Sword deserves a 10/10

For me the best of the saga although I have to say that I have played 4 Zeldas and this was my second, many people will not agree with my opinion and maybe this Zelda is one of the most childish in characters and story but the gameplay with the Wii controls is brutal using the shield and sword as if it were you inside the game is incredible I became fond of certain characters and hated others but despite everything it seems to me to be the best

This was my introduction to the Legend of Zelda series. The graphics are a perfect compromise between Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker. However, the dungeons were not amongst my favourites. Yet with the Wii motion plus gameplay the combat remains unique to this day and i believe this is one of the more appealing games in the series because of this.

Skyward Sword is one of those Zelda games that sets a new standard for how the player plays the game, both literally and physically. Its pacing can be a bit bad at times having to redo the imprisoned fight multiple times, but, the dungeons and their set pieces blow the redone fights out of the water. The entire OST is also amazing throughout, really feels like an adventure is taking place, whether mysterious or a sense of danger is approaching. The other negative thing I'll add is, having to use Motion controls. Now granted it's part of the game's overall design philosophy which is understandable, but, sometimes it gets in the way of enjoying the game outright. Pros; Good storytelling Excellent OST Amazing Set Pieces ~ Cons: Redoing Fights Motion Controls I give Skyward Sword an 8/10

Skyward Sword is the pinnacle of failure for the Zelda franchise. Nintendo managed to take everything questionable from previous games and crank it up to the nth degree. This game is the embodiment of what happens when you try to shove 'innovation' down players' throats without any ****’s start with the motion controls. Oh, what a ‘brilliant’ idea—forcing players to flail their arms around like lunatics to perform basic actions. It’s exhausting, imprecise, and turns every battle into a nightmare. Want to cut a spider web or solve a puzzle? Get ready to fight the Wii Remote more than the enemies **** the world? It’s one of the most lifeless and soulless in the series. Skyloft is a joke as a central hub: empty, boring, and filled with NPCs who offer nothing but forgettable dialogue. And the areas below the clouds? They’re not a connected world but a series of linear corridors masquerading as ‘exploration.’ The sense of epic adventure that defines Zelda was completely thrown out the **** story is a drawn-out soap opera full of clichés. Fi, the ‘helper,’ is downright unbearable with her redundant explanations and useless alerts. She makes Navi seem like delightful company. The relationship between Link and Zelda tries to be emotional but fails thanks to a weak script and forced **** the pacing? A nightmare. You’re forced to revisit the same areas repeatedly, solve the same types of puzzles, and face recycled enemies. Everything is artificially stretched to turn a 10-hour game into a 40-hour marathon of pure frustration.Skyward Sword doesn’t just fail as a game—it destroys what makes Zelda special. It’s living proof that the series, at that point, was lost, more concerned with forcing gimmicks than delivering something truly memorable. It’s a black hole of creativity and fun, a low point so deep it almost **** the soul out of the franchise

This is my favorite of the original dungeon format Zelda games. Its the first Zelda game I ever 100%ed and there was never a dull moment. I was never bored, the bosses are great, and I'm a psychopath who likes motion controls. I do understand that others don't agree and I personally don't like the story which is what brings it down to an eight. (I don't really care for story though)

Some of the best dungeons and bosses in the whole series but falls short due to being painfully linear, aswell as motion controls being a pain and causing dread when considering a replay.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is, in my opinion, the worst Zelda game I have played so far. It's super linear, the gameplay gets sometime really boring and the world building is horrible, since you have to go to the same 3 places multiple times without anything changing much. Despite this, the story is pretty good and the finale is definitely the highlight of the game (Skyward Sword went from a bad 6 to a good 6 for me). Overall, Skyward Sword is fine. There are some serious issues that affect the experience, but it's still a good game. 6,6/10

It says something that this is the only Zelda I've played and haven't finished. I loved energy and dialogue in the beginning, but at some point this game felt like a slog and I couldn't finish it. Very high quality game nonetheless

An underrated Zelda game, and perhaps the last good one to ever be made. The new Zelda games Breath of the wild and Tears of the Kingdom don't compare and lack soul. This game followed the Zelda formula and had a decent story, music, and gameplay.

Skyward Sword makes me sad. This is my least favorite major Zelda game excluding the Gameboy/spinoffs. In fact, this is the only Zelda game that I actively dislike. The directional sword-fighting mechanics are gimmicky, and don't add nearly enough value to make up for the annoyance of its additional complexity. The UI is one of the very worst I've seen. The controls are a mess, and to simply look around with your character requires you to hold down a button before using the thumbstick. The gameplay itself is mired in a series of increasingly obnoxious and unintuitive puzzles that bring the game to a screeching halt. A lot of the puzzles are tied to the aforementioned directional sword-fighting. This game is chock full of gimmicky bossfights, obnoxious mini-games, and unfun mechanics. Flying, dousing, fetch quests tied to a day/night cycle, catching bugs, and many more. It's like they threw everything at the wall, and it's mostly tedious exercises in frustration. For example, to defeat eye sentries you have to move your sword around in clockwise circles so they get dizzy. How are you supposed to know this? Luck, I suppose, or looking up a guide like I did. The beauty of Zelda games has always been the simplicity and intuitive nature of the gameplay, which is an RPG distilled to its core elements, with ideally nothing needing an explanation. If I have to look up something, it has failed. There's also far too much talking for a Zelda game, and having to speed through badly-written dialog. Skyward Sword also introduces the unfortunate JRPG trope of overlong boring cutscenes. There are lots of little annoyance as well that aren't really worth going through, like automatically warping you out of a dungeon without asking if you're ready to leave. It all points to an amateurish team being in charge of this great series. I guessed correctly that Miyamoto wasn't involved with this project. This doesn't feel like a Zelda game. It's not because of a lack of care. a lot of effort went into making a game this bad. Less is more.

I don't actually know why the hate and the disparagement at this title. Have one of the best histories in all Zelda games. It is the game with more content before Breath of the Wild and Tears od the Kingdom. Have one of the best graphics and art, with a beautiful and colorful world. And the biggest and more complicated dungeons with a deep design with Twilight Princess. For me, it was my best experience in a Zelda game added to Twilight Princess. Skyward Sword is a very good game but so underrated.

I love this game because of flying around and the end boss battle. It was really hard and I needed like 5 attempts. And I love the way how the relationship between Zelda and Link is.

One of the greatest stories ever found in a video game. Gameplay is genuinely delightful. Have you ever wanted to wield a sword against monsters, well you can have that feeling in your living room. I spent day after day standing in front of the TV in swordsman stance swinging my wii remote and saving the world without tiring. Play this game. You won't regret it.

I don't care about the motion controls or Fi or anything petty like that. We can praise the game for its visuals, unique story, or amazing soundtrack, but at its core, Skyward Sword is a game that is tedious and hand-holdy. Zelda is a series founded on exploration, and I'm not just saying that because I've recently 100% completed Breath of the Wild. In fact Skyward Sword does everything right that Breath of the Wild may have missed. However, that comes at the cost of doing everything wrong that Breath of the Wild did right. Even the older and more linear games that people are so fond of still gave you a sense of adventure. And it's absolutely baffling that such a wonderful new open world in the sky is the most restrictive the game has ever been. The game's boss battles and side quests feel like padding. There should be no reason why I should be required to fight the same boss over and over! There is not enough variety in the game to warrant doing that! And because of the motion control gimmick thrown in there, the enemies now take really long to defeat, which feels like an artificial level of challenge. The game discourages you from using your abilities to its fullest and puts you into a box. This entire game is repetition, hand-holding, and padding, and the story isn't nearly strong enough to make up for that! To give credit to the game, the Dungeons are among the best designed in the series, and work well with the tools you acquire on your journey, but that same care wasn't delivered to the other 3/4ths of the game.

While motion controls may not be for everyone, Skyward Sword is arguably the best demonstration of what the Wii is capable of. Combat is overhauled to be the best it is in the series, with each encounter feeling exhilarating and unique due to not only the increased variety of techniques Link can perform but the added variety of enemies as well. Motion controls themselves are fluid and responsive, for both combat and for other uses such as aiming items such as the bow, allowing for added precision not found in other LoZ games. Dungeons and puzzles are consistently interesting and unique without overstaying their welcome, and the different overworlds the game offers are vibrant and compelling to explore, particularly thanks to the game's presentation. The water color style is breathtaking and feels like a perfect combination of WW and TP's art styles, and the orchestrated soundtrack made up of both old and new tunes is perhaps the best this series has to offer. While the story is pretty run of the mill for LoZ standards, the characterization is also the best its ever been in the series, from main characters like Zelda or Ghirahim to side characters like Groose to even the random townspeople in Skyloft. The game's main bane is its repetitiveness, as plenty of main story quests will have you backtracking to areas you've already explored which can lead to later parts of the game feeling monotonous. Furthermore, while the combat expansions are great, they also lead to combat taking longer to complete which may overstay its welcome, particularly across longer play sessions. Skyward Sword is a great game but also one to take your time with; trying to blast through the game will quickly reveal how repetitive the game can get and diminish the experience.
