The score I gave it is maybe lower than it could be; I think I'm just burnt out on the puzzle platformer genre.

Easily the best 3D platformer ever made. There's seemingly endless content densely packed across a wide variety of locations, with new mechanics constantly being introduced.

Underrated. Amazing environments. The towns and villages are unbelievably well-crafted. I do have to say, Lara Croft kinda **** as a person, but not every protagonist has to be a paragon of virtue.

"Quantity Over Quality" the video game. Geralt's voice makes me want to mute the game, so I guess that doesn't help. Eh, maybe I'll give it another try.

I'm sorry but I don't like endless chatter in games. "We could use that ladder" being barked out to me, while I'm positioning a ladder. Shut up, Joel, for one goshdang second. On the plus side, I find it pretty amusing when you're in stealth sections, and your partner runs around out of cover, directly in front of the goons, somehow remaining undetected. Where can I get that invisibility powerup? Because I hate stealth.

LittleBigPlanet, how I miss thee. This is pure joy captured in game form by the wonderful Media Molecule. Plus, it gives your noggin some exercise if you want to explore the power of their logic system in crafting mode.

An adrenaline rush in the form ****. Nintendo, pleeeaaassseee make a new F-Zero game, even if it's just a remake. Stop remaking Star Fox 64 over and over and over and over and over and over again.

If I had two words to describe this game, it would be "artificial difficulty". And yet, somehow, the flaws give it character and make it memorable. I don't think I can recommend this game to anyone. I guess I just enjoyed it on some sadomasochistic level.

On paper, this looked like a perfect game for me. Control was my introduction to Remedy, so I guess I was expecting the combat part of the game to be well executed. Unfortunately, I loathed every moment I had to engage in gunfire. The investigative part of the game felt like throwing spaghetti at the wall, as opposed to using logic. Yet, the storytelling aspects of the game are masterful, rescuing this game from total disappointment.

The environments in this game nailed the Star Wars atmosphere. Plus, it's just a fun game. The poor reviews this game received are a bit mystifying. I hear they patched in many improvements to boot. I really enjoyed my time getting lost in the Star Wars universe, filled with familiar aliens and tech.

As someone who loves turn-based RPGs with timing elements a la Paper Mario, the combat is pretty fun. Everything else **** below average. A lot of the dialogue is absolute cringe, paired with character animations that make everyone looking they're swaying on a boat. The overall story is like an idea that sounded good when you were drunk, but when you woke up the next day, you realized it was a bunch of rubbish.

Donkey Kong Bananza8
Jan 3, 2026
This is a fun 3D platformer on its own merits. However, I was surprised to learn this was developed by the same team that made Super Mario Odyssey (just to name their most recent project from the past), because this game feels like a massive step down in nearly every metric from Odyssey. I'm hoping Bananza was just a side project and the team's true focus was working on something more in line with the quality of their previous releases. Anyway, with that rant over, the game is definitely worth playing.

I generally have a distaste for rogue-likes, but this series is the exception. It's definitely the permanent upgrade pathways that make it feel like you're not wasting your time, although I'm sure this is a sin in the genre. The sequel is huge step up from the original in every way. I strongly recommend

Dead Cells3
Sep 20, 2023
I had no idea this was a rogue-like when I picked this up. It had been advertised as a "Metroidvania" by those who recommended it. On my very first run, still not knowing it was a rogue-like, I made it to the final boss of the game. (I'm not trying to brag about skill. I just need to state this for my next comments to make sense.) When I died to the final boss, I was expecting to respawn near the boss room. Instead, I was sent back to the start of the game, to my surprise and disgust. I instantly deleted Dead Cells for wasting my time. I just do not like rogue-likes. If that's a genre you enjoy, I'm sure your experience will be different.

The pacing in this game is so slooooow. Attempts to add realism to the game just make things even more of a slog. The environments and atmosphere are incredible, though. If there are mods to streamline the game, I'd probably like it. As it stands, I don't enjoy paying attention to wind patterns and how they carry my scent. I think I'd rather just clean my house.

I really wanted to like this game, but it was a buggy mess for me. Something broke every 15 minutes, forcing me to restart the game over and over. For example, fast travel would hardlock the game, so I was just unable to use a very fundamental feature. It's unfortunate because the game has so much potential. If the bugs were fixed, I'd add 3 points to the score.

Omitting Galaxy 2 is pure Nintendo hubris. Looking back at the previous all-star game, the 2D collection gave the games an exciting facelift and offered many fans their first chance to play a game (The Lost Levels) unavailable in their region. Instead of adding a game, Nintendo subtracted a game from this collection.
