Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition9
Apr 3, 2025
The story in this game is incredible. Dante is a very likeable character with his edgy/cheesy persona and so are the enemies and sidekick. I played this game on both easy and normal and its very difficult to string together good combos but I understand the replayability of the design In my opinion the stylised camera hasn't aged too well although fine. But the nonstop action from beginning to end and awesome cutscene make this an incredible game.

The Wonderful 1018
Mar 27, 2025
I really enjoyed this title. I know Platinum Games and Hideki Kamiya have had more popular and also more critically acclaimed titles. But this one is just fun. It has a silly premise where you control 101 characters at once which is donegreat. Furthermore, the touch controls on the Wii U Gamepad were executed great. In general all of the Wii U Gamepad gimmicks were well done. The story was engaging and silly as you recruit more and more heroes. And I'm personally a big fan of the art style and the pacing of this experience one of my personal favorite hidden gem character action games.

I liked this games story as well as the combat. I personally am not anti-QTE I think in dumb action games these can actually enhance the gameplay. The combat and bosses are fun and the story is memorable.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag8
Mar 27, 2025
The first Assassin's Creed game I beat. I loved the setting in this game and the story while less memorable as Assassin's Creed II was equally told with great pace. It is the open world element that keeps me entertained in this game. The setting of the Caribbean and access to sailing ships while still maintaining the core elements of stealth and parkour make this also a must play in the series.

I picked this game up awhile back during the 360 generation however I couldn't get into it at the time. However now in 2024 I finally had the desire to try it again after beating Black Flag. This is a wonderful game the story is told at an excellent pace and the gameplay is fast especially the parkour. The combat is okay. Stealth Kills are the most rewarding. But when not in stealth i thought the game suffered from an armless cheese where brawling with your fist helped you get out of most tough situations it just took awhile. The story is one of the best however, and this is a must play in the franchise.

Xenoblade Chronicles 38
Mar 27, 2025
I thought this game was fun. I breezed through the game in less than 10 days or so. The classes system was really well done and rewarding. The plot was pretty good but I would give the edge to the original for being more memorable. It's the gameplay in my opinion that helps make the 60 hour long campaign maintain it's addictive nature but the plot is well written as are all xenoblade titles.

I was there since the start! Back when this game was a japan exclusive I participated in the Operation Rainfall movement. While I'm not a completionist I did find the story engaging. Therefore the open world was immersive and fun but it's the story from start to finish that I thought was masterfully crafted, The gameplay couldve been paced better as this game took me nearly a decade to complete.

Red Dead Redemption9
Mar 27, 2025
While I'm not a big fan of the grand theft auto series usually, the other more story driven titles that Rockstar does like Red Dead Redemption or L.A. Noir make for more engaging experiences for me personally. I thought it was super cool to role play as a cowboy and the narrative is told so well from beginning to end. As far as open world games go this games setting is also highly engaging and atmospheric. I look forward to eventually trying the sequel.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild8
Mar 27, 2025
This is the kind of game for open world junkies. Personally I would've preferred more expansive and thorough dungeon designs. However, this game is incredible for those just looking to immerse themselves in the alternate world of Hyrule so I can easily recommend it to many gamers.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword8
Mar 27, 2025
This was my introduction to the Legend of Zelda series. The graphics are a perfect compromise between Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker. However, the dungeons were not amongst my favourites. Yet with the Wii motion plus gameplay the combat remains unique to this day and i believe this is one of the more appealing games in the series because of this.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD8

The cell shaded art style is great and makes the title stand out in the Legend of Zelda series even if it was not well received at launch for the Gamecube release. I did appreciate the differences between this Wii U title and the Gamecube such as making sailing more accessible. The experience just felt a little underwhelming when compared to the grand scope of other games in the series.

Mass Effect 210
Mar 27, 2025
Builds well upon the fundamentals of the first game of the series. Same dialogue decision trees, same Third Person Shooter slash RPG mechanics, same incredibly wide scope outer-space setting. However, the icing on the cake for me is how the story uses the style of the Seven Samurai film to portray Commander Shepard recruiting a galactic space force to fight off the bad guy aliens. The story is paced to a tee. It's an incredible experience that ive revisited countless times and will keep on doing in the future as the rpg mechanics and story beats allow for an umbrella of different paths and results through the series. A great blend of action and rpg that is still unique and pioneering to this day,

Mass Effect9

A revolutionary title that melded the styles of third person shooters and western role playing games in a gigantic outer-space extraterrestrial setting. The influence of this title resulted in many titles copying the third person slash rpg battle mechanics. The story is part one of a three game series where actions are weighed. Depending on your reputation in the game different playthroughs will result in different outcomes. The rpg mechanics are not skimped on with this third person shooter. Bioware really mastered their "Paragon/Renegade" formula of involved dialogue options and this game also features a romance option that is well done. A finely crafted experience that leads to the next title phenomenally. The combat and the story while great were certainly out performed by the following title in my opinion: Mass Effect 2

Another great Platinum games title. For the Wii this game stood out as a title that appealed to the hardcore demographic during it's time. However as far as action games this campaign is far too short and the gameplay also too repetitive. The graphics are unique still to this day and the games concept is incredible. However, even though the game was quite ambitious the execution falls a bit short for Platinum Games reputation.

An incredible story experience where successive playthroughs lead to an adapting new game plus story. The story in general was really well told and the graphics are **** is important to note this game includes a transgender party member who is super badass and contributes well to the experience. The combat was lacking. But the story was so good and unique it made playing through the campaign and restarting the save file a worthwhile experience.

I would say its an above average campaign but nothing more. As a big fan of Platinum Games I did find the unique combat fun. However the story was lacking and the final boss was not memorable. The combat lets you play a third person shooter at a very rapid pace. So it's a better experience than most games of the genre however I personally didn't find it memorable.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance8

Following up Bayonetta Platinum Games works on a game for Konami's Metal Gear series. Being that I'm not an advent stealth player i really appreciated my time in the Metal Gear Universe and didn't mind the optional stealth gameplay or lack thereof. I thought the hack and slash of the protagonists blade was a wonderful addition that makes this game feel really unique. I have not revisited this title but maybe fans of Metal Gear will get more out of the lore as long as they also appreciate the change in gameplay from the flagship series.

This game runs incredibly smooth especially on the xbox 360 during release. Hideki Kamiya creator of Devil May Cry improves his gameplay formula and makes it more accessible. I played through this game twice and its sequels however this is my favorite one. At the time it was revolutionary in the world of character action games. With a great cheesy tongue in cheek story about a witch that fights against angels and demons to save the world. Your typical Hideki Kamiya Genius. Platinum games would go on to work on many other great titles and franchises after this.

Incredible atmosphere, clever and funny writing, addictive gameplay. This is one of the Suda 51 games I plan on replaying. I thought the campaign was hilarious yet maintained an awesome dark atmosphere with the help of an incredible soundtrack. The gameplay is great if not technically much different from other third person shooters of the era. The achievement hunting makes successive playthroughs inviting. I did not like how the achievement for beating the campaign on normal didn't automatically count as beating easy. Furthermore, felt that the protagonist didn't control all to well felt a bit stiff. But these are minor gripes to an incredible game with an even better final boss.

The graphics in this game with the cell shaded style makes for one of the best looking games of the era. A fun campaign worthy of a playthrough. The gigolo side missions were a tad bit cringe for my liking. However, the hack and slash style and substance of Suda 51 is still there and well worth the experience. Still remember the final boss after all these years so I would give it the slight edge over Lollipop Chainsaw if I were to recommend a grasshopper manufacturer game.

Fun button masher with loads of goofy QTE's or quick time events. Awesome soundtrack lets you hack and slash zombies for a lot of enjoyment during the 6ish hour campaign. Was worth a single playthrough however I have not revisited. I liked the premise of the protagonist's boyfriend being decapitated yet attached - and talking - to her hip. Goofy nonsensical fun like many games of Suda 51 and grasshopper manufacturer's history. Not one of his best in this era but fun nonetheless.

Metroidvania style exploration with a robust action-rpg gameplay experience. Medieval setting but developed by a Japanese studio, therefore the game walks the fine line between jrpg and wrpg, The combat is likely one of the most satisfying I have ever experience. RPG mechanics allow for low level builds to make an incredibly hard game even harder for future runs. Solid speed running community. Launched a trilogy from the brink of lost hope. Item descriptions tell the story by connecting links meaning a lot of the story is theorised by YouTube experts. Overall amazing game and in my personal Top 3. Always down to rerun the game with self imposed to challenges to make it more difficult because between the atmosphere and the gameplay it's always worthwhile to revisit. Highly recommend!
