The experience that it offers is so different that I'm fine taking the plunge on it. Add to that the fun challenges in the Trial of the Sword and this pack immediately heads back in the right direction. [Issue #29, p. 18]

All in all, this initial DLC pack is worth picking up, especially if you’re still toying around with Breath of the Wild. Granted, the next story focused pack is probably the more hotly anticipated of the two, but the gameplay features, additional difficulty, and the Trial of the Sword challenge are nothing to scoff at here. Definitely pick this up, it’s well worth the asking price.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack, while not essential, tremendously capitalizes on the game’s fantastic mechanics.

Master mode is peak and a must for experienced players and trial of the sword was a great change. Another reason to replay a wonderful game

Trial of the Sword would have been fun and useful had I not already beat the game I feel as though this is more post game content and less DLC. Master Mode easily carries the bulk of this DLC. Even then that's not very much considering I'm not a big breath of the wild fan The concept of stronger enemies and enemies healing are great but it's just not worth it for me in this game. The trial of the sword is challenging but the reward at that point is rather worthless as I can imagine most have beat the game by that point.

This DLC brings up to this already prefect game something that I personally really appreciated : difficulty. With master mode or the trials of the sword, we encounter a new challenge to face, and it's damn hard, but it feels good to do. The lack of difficulty was the only thing I could blame about botw, and it's now fixed.

Provides a solid amount of goodies to keep Breath of the Wild fans occupied through the summer months.

The first of the DLCs of The Legend Of Zelda Breath of The Wild, has two interesting new modes to make the end-game more engaging and new gear to make it more enjoyable.

The Master Trials doesn’t make any epochal changes to the established Breath of the Wild formula, but by packing in one of the game’s best quests, some welcome new features, and a hard mode to be reckoned with, it more than paves the way way for the starrier story expansion to come.

While Breath of the Wild's first DLC pack contains some fantastic moments, on the whole it feels light and, frankly, not yet worth the cost.

Trials is a hodgepodge of stuff that should have been patched in and stuff worthy of extra development time.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: The Master Trials is a great DLC! The master sword trial is incredible! In the master mode, the master sword trial is like a nightmare... I love the riddles of the locations of the armors! You really need to open your map and look for it. This DLC is awesome! But I think the pack 2 of the DLC will be more awesome! Great!!!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - The Master Trials is not for everyone. There’s no new story content, and a lot of the new content is trivial. A lot of the content just supplements an already perfect game. The Trial of the Sword, arguably the biggest part of the expansion, is a great challenge that anyone looking for a tough new experience should definitely try.

To start off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is quite possibly one of my favorite games of all time and was from the very moment I played it. So with that being said I had very high hopes of this first dlc. There is a lot of things to like about this dlc and all the additions are smart and have great uses within the game but the one thing holding back this dlc from true greatness is that I can't shake the fact that most of the additions should have been in the game out the gate. In example the new ability to fast travel to custom point and the mask that helps find korok seeds. Having played the game for already upwards of 200 hours I just feel as though a majority of this stuff would've simply been more helpful if I had these tools during my 200 hours of play not after the fact. The hero's path is also a cool addition but honestly after I looked at it once or twice the luster of it was gone. The biggest saving grace of this dlc though is undoubtedly the master trials however. It's undoubtedly one of the best quests in the game with quite a bit of length to it and it features probably the most adrenaline packed fun the game has to offer. Also the masters sword having double power by the end of it all is a great reward. 60 damage isn't the highest dps weapon by any means but given the masters sword non-breakable nature it more than makes up for it. Overall my suggestion for this dlc is that if you haven't played the game at all then you should totally buy this dlc with it for the helpful tools that it allows you to have as you play through the game for the first time or if you really are just that huge of a BotW fan than I recommend it as well. Otherwise though if you have already dumped as many hours into the game as I have I would suggest simply waiting for the second dlc to come along with the new story content and enjoy the whole thing as one big expansion. 7/10

This DLC was disappointing. They took things that should've been in the base game and turned them into paid DLC. Not only that, but the sword trials are the worst in series history anyway. They were not fun at all. Master Mode is garbage that is not worth touching since the base game was already more tedious and annoying than all other 3D Zelda games and most 2D ones. I've beaten hero mode in past games, but I have no desire to touch Master Mode at all in Botw. In short, this DLC is just poor design.

SummaryThe Master Trials comes with a new Trial of the Sword challenge (previously referred to as the Cave of Trials) that begins with Link having no armor or weapons. There are 45 total rooms in Trial of the Sword, and if you beat them all, then the "true power of the Master Sword will awaken and always be in its glowing powered-up state." The... Read More
