With any luck Krome's overhaul will prove lucrative enough to warrant them continuing the brand, flying Spyro into next-gen skies and who knows, perhaps a veritable rebirth. [Oct. 2006, p.54]

Unfortunately, the entire affair is filled with repeated waves of what amount to the exact same enemies, and it doesn’t take long for boredom to set in.

A series of well-done flying sequences bridge the game's various stages, and the shifting of gears is very much welcome after an extended series of brawls.

A great game whit great **** have very good graphics to be a game from **** still playable even in 2026.

I used to love this game as a little kid. It was my first Spyro game and I adored it. I still like The Legend of Spyro as a whole but this game is the out liar. I don't enjoy this game much anymore growing up. And that's really disappointing to say. I'll always have fond memories of this game but it's just not the best and the worst of The Legend of Spyro games to me.

A lot of the game's potential falls flat in the face of occasional mediocrity and blandness, which is in turn offset by bright spots that sometimes pop up during the course of your adventure.

one of if not the best spyro stories out there, combat is actually fun albeit a bit unorthodox for a dragon. but actually my favorite game in the franchise! hoping one day for a high quality remake...

Underrated gem, and deserving of far better legacy, the combat, the breaths, the story, everything, all amazing, though not for everyone it is one of my top favorites of all time cant recommend enough

While it isn’t the perfect Spyro game, it still manages to be a decent and enjoyable action title. Sadly, repetitive gameplay and a short lifespan hurt a lot of its overall quality.

A reasonable update, but even with the changes there's nothing here you won't have seen somewhere before. This is a rather lazy prequel. [Christmas 2006, p.76]

If you loved the original games then that might carry you through to completion but for those who are new, prepare for a long slog.

A new beginning is a step in the right direction, but Spyro still has a long way to go before being "good" again. [Jan. 2007, p.89]

It has a fantastic score, an excellent cast and some genuinely good ideas, but its inability to find balance between narration and game, along with poor execution, means that this is one purple headed monster you won’t want to be playing with.

Um dos melhores jogos do Spyro que eu já joguei, jogabilidade MT boa, trilha sonora fantástica e gráficos lindos. Muito bom jogo

A good start of a decent series. It can never beat the originals, but I felt it was better than most of the other Spyro games that came out after Spyro 3. Some of the levels can kind of overstay their welcome, but it's fun overall.

I can see why people hate this game, but I like change if it's done correctly and well, this game is really good, instead of a collect-a-thon we have a Beat-em-up, Spyro like in Enter the Dragonfly has new breaths, Fire, Electricity, Ice and Earth, all 4 feel very useful in their own situations and neither outclass each other, there's also Convexity which is only used at the end boss, I also like how some enemies resist one element while vulnerable to another. The game looks really good and I enjoy the gameplay, I also like Cynder in this game a lot, she's badass when you see her fly around in the distance. The only downsides are... If you expect this to be like an old school Spyro game, it isn't and you properly won't like it. The game can become very linear. If you replay the game you cannot skip the tutorials for the new elements, which is very annoying. Very easy. The guardian dragons except Ignitus are pointless and add nothing besides teaching Spyro. Sparx... Overall it's a good game.

A New Beginning falls flat on its face, its ugly face. Pros: Graphics, visuals, and sound effects. Cons: Generic, formulaic, and the new design may repel familiar gamers even more than Enter the Dragonfly did.
SummaryThis completely new Spyro adventure, featuring gameplay focused heavily on dynamic action and fast-paced combat, uncovers the true origin of Spyro the Dragon as he evolves into a living, breathing weapon of explosive destruction. This epic story of Spyro's quest to discover his roots and realize his destiny is brought to life by leading ... Read More
