Mit The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales liefert Team Asano ein zweischneidiges Schwert ab. It is a HD-2D action RPG with satisfying combat, rewarding exploration, and beautiful visuals. Its Zelda-inspired gameplay and time-travel adventure make it easy to enjoy, even if the story plays it a bit safe.

Good game with fun Zelda style gameplay and beautiful artstyle. One dimensional, generic characters with no personality, boring story and unmemorable soundtrack hold it back from greatness.

what a great game, i think it may be my favorite game of the year right now, very close with resident evil, I have a few small gripes but overall i loved it, the ending came together in such a perfect way

The art style, music, and the final part of the story are great, but the game becomes extremely repetitive as you move through the same areas across different eras; you can tell it’s artificially padded. The final stretch to unlock the endings and the post-game content feels like a real drag, despite how good the story is. PS: It's a shame about the key-card format on Switch 2, because this game deserves to be played in handheld mode, and that's why I picked it up on PS5 to play with the Portal (while it's still possible). Because of this, it's a -0.5 on the final review score

Outstanding visual. One of the best HD-2D game in the market. One thing that I didn't like was story. It's too plain and too cliche...although there are more stories unlock at later part. Overall it's a good game, great visual, still enjoyable with some flaws.

È unngioco molto divertente, pieno di sorprese e di luoghi da scoprire. Alcune trame secondarie mi hanno commossa e l’end game è stato una vera sorpresa! Questo gioco mi ha divertito davvero tanto!

From the moment I started the game I can see just how great Square Enix is at this art style. Visuals look stunning and the soundtrack is perfect for an adventure like this. The music is honestly so good I've just had it running as I type this up which makes sense because its the same developers who made Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes. It's really nice to have the main protagonist actually have a voice in this style of game and from what I've heard so far the voice cast does a great job. I'm mixed on Elliot as a character because he is really the perfect hero for a game like this. I like him a lot because it's how I want to play this game but at times it seems like he lacks character depth or room for growth. Movement feels decent but combat feels a bit stiff at times. I really like using the magicite system to upgrade the different weapons you can obtain. You can also use whatever weapon you want to progress through the game and get a good variety pretty early on. Although I loved the environments and enemies, my main drawback is from repetition in the places you explore. Overall this is another fantastic entry from Square Enix and I'm really hoping they continue making more games just like this one.

Incredible game with a good story and a fun leveling system. The secrets and upgrades are impactful, and the narrative is charming. The gameplay is very balanced, even on very hard mode, and it features a great superboss.

A Great Start, Asanos Elliot does well to bring the feeling of classic Zelda back, and when you get to the true ending it really soars in the finale. The music, HD-2D style, combat and more continue to shine. Weapons syetms and magicite plus Fae abilities really make the combat an great time with the options and variety. Story is realtively solid just a feel good time that really hits when you get everything together at the truth, with each age having solid characters. Elliot himself is a solid go good and the others offer their own great support and parts to the story. The flaws of this game come down to enemy variety and map repetition. You will fight the the same enemies over and over and the map is the same FOUR TIMES, and you have to rexplore it again and again. the routing and enemy drop system makes things feel off. Drop rate is good but much of the time you will just ignore enemies to just get map flled or progress. Puzzles and dungeons are lighter but at least nice (eat your heart out TOTK/ BOTW with poor dungeons). Aestetic and much of the core is good with room to work off off this idea. The developers did a great job for a first swing at an action like setup versus asanos turn based systems. I think it suits my tastes to be in parallel with octopath as a great series with sequel potential. Nothing crazy special but a great time and worth a look.

The game only becomes truly fun once you've played through the whole thing; overall, the core ARPG experience is excellent.

The Adventures of Eliot is a great new HD-2D action adventure game. It has the vibe of old school Zelda games but made fresh. I highly recommend it

This is a near perfect zeldalike, they nail the wonder of exploration, the compelling progression of finding new tools and abilities, and the combat system has a surprising amount of depth with its “magecite” that allows you to customize all 7 of your weapons and experiment with unique builds. The story is slow at the start but that can be forgiven, in the end when the truth is revealed you will be invested in these characters and the payoff is huge. This was a surprising game, I thought it would be fun, but they made something bigger and better than your average zeldalike. There’s still room for improvement, I think the sequel should ditch the fairy companion, or at least reduce her dialogue even further, because she speaks far too often and the same lines repeat over and over.

This game can only be described as Square Enix's attempt to create an homage to Zelda: A Link to the Past, which they nail flawlessly and demonstrates the versatility of Octopath Traveler rendering pipeline and art style. The mechanics feel crisp and the visual style works very well. I don't have any criticisms per se, but the weaknesses are definitely the length of the game and depth of the story (which was not particularly strong in early Zelda games). Basically SE actually understands what their target audience wants in a game like this. If you like older Zelda games, highly recommend.

I felt like I went to a theater play produced and staged by little kids from elementary School. It's generic fairy tale stuff with plenty of clichés, cheesy deliveries and one-dimensional characters, that hilariously takes itself too seriously. The protagonist, Elliot, is probably the most bland lead of any game I've played and his fairy pal is only bearable playing with her voice ****'s hard to connect with a game that you don't care about its lore and characters. It breaks the immersive factor. Need to have masterclass game design to make up for it. Unfortunately what we have here missed the **** are some cool power ups and combat mechanics are solid, but the game don't make creative and deep use of them. Dungeons/bosses are kinda basic and forgettable. Also, there are 4 different maps spread in 4 different eras, but the only difference the foliage and buildings of the central village, everything else has the same layout. Get's boring and repetitive exploring the same stuff 4 times. Also nothing that is done in the past, changes something in the future. That's lazy work! Finally, i don't find the visuals that good looking(they are visually busy sometimes) and the soundtrack sounds like tacky Disney movie soundtrack or background tracks for amusement parks like Magic Kingdom.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is not a game defined by groundbreaking innovation. Many of its ideas will be familiar from other titles in the genre, and fans of classic adventures, in particular, will instantly recognize numerous sources of inspiration. Yet, Team Asano achieves something remarkable. Instead of constantly reinventing the wheel, the studio focuses on craftsmanship, precise world-building, and the meticulous refinement of proven concepts. The result is an adventure that captivates players not through spectacular surprises, but through the enduring joy of exploration.Rarely has the hunt for the next secret, ruin, or treasure felt so rewarding. Anyone who appreciates classic fantasy adventures, well-designed dungeons, and a lovingly crafted game world will find one of the strongest action RPGs of recent years here.

The HD2D games have so much potential, but this is basically an ARPG Octopath traveller with all the same warts. Visually pretty, mechanically serviceable, narratively bad, and the characters and voice direction are bad enough to warrant skipping the game if those are things you care a lot about. Elliot is a bland, one-note protagonist. The voice direction sounds somewhere between audiobook narration & highschool stage play. I really wish they’d put some effort into the dialogue scripts. If you’ve played the Octopath games you more or less know what you’re getting into in terms of vibes. They also reuse maps and enemies across timelines & for $60 I am just not impressed. People argue that Zelda never had good dialogue either, but this isn’t 1:1 Zelda. The major difference here is that TAoE frequently puts its weakest elements front & center.

I enjoyed this game a lot and it had a very lovely story. The side quests were very enjoyable as well.
