Deep, rich, with a great replayability, Sneaky Yak offers a fresh experience with a low price and Spellcaster University is definitively fun and a great surprise. Don't miss it.

Spellcaster University is a fun little experience where you can finally channel your inner Dumbledore. It has some design issues with its “too much rng, too little planning” gameplay loop, but it is an exceptionally fun game that makes it that much more worthwhile if you are an HP fan or just love some good fantasy managerial sim.

Spellcaster University is a perfect example of an independent project done right. There’s humour, there’s micromanagement galore, even the weird graphic design will grow on you almost instantaneously. I don’t think there are any better games about building a magical school.

A building game in nice graphics with numerous options, which is both created for lovers of Harry Potter and game management.

A cute and quirky management sim with lots of character. Lacks some polishing but is quite well done otherwise.

Despite some issues, Spellcaster University is a fun, casual and unique experience that is worth trying for fans of its many genres. However, I could not help but feel that the small studio spread itself thin by mashing together different mechanics. As Sneaky Yak Studio will continue the active development of Spellcaster University for the foreseeable future, they will hopefully solve some of the issues that bring down an otherwise good debut game.

Spellcaster University is repetitive and full of poor design choices. The gameplay needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, because in its current state the game still looks like something out of Early Access rather than a final release. [10/2021, p.44]
