All in all, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is an extremely solid assemblage of some of the Genesis' greatest hits, and with extras and achievements, hidden interviews and an entire museum of concept art thrown in for good measure, it's definitely worth a look from old school gamers looking to re-live the glory days when a hedgehog didn't need a lame Werehog gimmick to prove that he was the baddest mascot around.

While every game isn't a winner, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is the best you can do, outside of Japan anyway. At least until the next, even more Ultimate Collection.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is a slick package, a lot of unlockables, and 49 games; it can all be yours for $30. That's a steal, and I can't recommend picking this one up enough.

just ports. just ports, man, what am I expected to say? Why do we give this company a pass and shart on Bethesda for rereleasing Skyrim again?

A near perfect collection of Sega Genesis games. My only two complaints are no option to swap the border, and no lock on for Sonic & Knuckles like in the standalone version. It's so sad that this excellent collection got replaced by Sega Genesis classics.

This collection of 48 Sega classics is a must have for Genesis fans. It's an HD compilation that contains a nice variety. On this release, you have seven Sonic games, the Streets of Rage trilogy, three Golden Axe entries, Phantasy Star I - IV and the Vectorman titles. Other gems include Shinobi III, Comix Zone, Columns, Ristar, the Ecco installments and Altered Beast. Unlockables include ports of arcade and Master System games, interviews, artwork and trivia. Unfortunately, a few great titles didn't make the cut such as The Revenge of Shinobi, Gunstar Heroes and Toe Jam and Earl. But despite the omissions, this is a great package for fans of Sega's heyday. Overall, I would rate this with an 8.1 out of 10.

With the complete Phantasy Star collection, six Sonic the Hedgehog titles and a bunch of Streets of Rage titles, this Sega compilation is one of the most comprehensive yet. You would be a fool to pass up this $30 compilation disc!

Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for the Xbox 360 features close to 50 games and while not all of them are hits, this collection will not fail to keep you busy … deliciously busy.

Honestly the game is fantastic. Some of the best games of all time are on here. The game goes for 20$ or less and if you do the math... There are 48 games total including unlockables. That totals to around 41¢ a game! And some of these games are fantastic! Every game on here is great in my opinion. You even get arcade games like space harrier and master system games like phantasm star anybody will enjoy this collection. Buy it now.

While every game in the collection is not exactly game history master piece, there is a lot of great stuff to play with. Add as much nostalgia bonus to the score as you want. [Aug 2009]

Despite a disappointing lack of online multiplayer, Sega Ultimate Megadrive Collection is one of the best old school compilations that money can buy. It’s well presented, sports interesting behind-the-scenes unlockables, and all the games have been converted so that they play as good as we remember them (except for Alex Kidd, which has aged like a 19th century milkshake).

All things considered and all the highs and lows of the Sega Mega Drive experience, Ultimate Collection is a good buy for any gamer old or new.

This Game is pretty good! A great collection of old classics packaged with love! Too bad the new collection has less charm and less Sonic 3 and knuckles! My only complaint is that Sonic 3 and knuckles cannot be combined. But hey... I can live with that!

This is a true upgrade to the Virtual Console. You can get many games for cheap. Games like: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic 3-D Blast, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe and MORE!

The classic Sega Genesis games are ported on this amazing system. This was my first X360 game I had and still today I love playing the amazing classics.

The game is great, and a nice run back to the Genesis era! Play as Alex Kidd and fight your way to the castle, run as Sonic and stop Eggman’s crimes, be Axel, Blaze and the others and stop the street crimes, become VectorMan and save the world, and more!
